<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Many researchers have been interested in the nondestructive measurement methods for estimating components damage in order to assure the safe service of steel structures. It is recognized that the evaluating techniques based on magnetic measurement can offer a great potential because of high susceptibility to the change of several metallurgical factors. Magnetic property such as coercive force was measured. The coercive force at room temperature monotonously increased with the increase of frequency. The correlation between the magnetic properties of used material and that of un-used material was studied. The coercive force gradient at room temperature increased with the increase of aging. Hence the estimating method using magnetic properties allows one to evaluate the extent of material aging for reactor pressure vessel.</P>

Objectives This study intends to present the writing of standardized medical records based on Korean medicine on the basis of Geum-gwe-yo-ryak symptoms. Methods 1. Excluding the sentences unrelated to the Geum-gwe-yo-ryak symptoms, the symptoms in the rest of sentences were extracted. 2. Classifying the extracted symptoms as per the review of system, the similar symptoms were integrated. 3. Calculating the frequencies of each symptom, each strain rate was calculated. 4. The above results were compared with the results of existing similar study on Sang-han-ron(『傷寒論』) symptoms Results Conclusion 1. Resulting from the analysis on all sentences in Geum-gwe-yo-ryak, a total of 1486 different symptoms were extracted. 2. As results out of total, the symptom related to the temperature sensation accounted for 12.4%, that related to sweat did 3.8%, that related to thirst did 3.8%, that related to edema did 3.4%, that related to musculoskeletal system did 6.9%, that related to breathing did 8.6%, that related to chest and hypochondrium did 6.2%, that related to abdomen did 9.5%, that related to digestive system did 9.6%, that related to stool did 6.4%, that related to urination and urinary system did 5.7%, that related to mouth, eye, ear, nose, throat did 5.3%, that related to skin did 4.5%, that related to language, mind, sleep and emotion did 6.7%. 3. Compared with Sang-han-ron, Edema appear only in Geum-gwe-yo-ryak. Therefore, edema may be a characteristic symptoms of miscellaneous disease.

In this paper, we describe the short range propagation loss characteristic of 24㎓ frequency band used for automotive collision avoidance radar (ACAR). To investigate the radio propagation characteristic of ACAR signals, we used 24㎓ UMCW (Un-Modulated Continuous Wave) signals using by several polarized antenna combinations. To detect the accurate message data for safety guiding ACAR, we analyze and investigate the optimum receiving condition from the short range UMCW signal of the 24㎓ frequency. From the measurement analysis, it can be clearly seen that the short range UMCW signal can be encountered to multipath interference due to scattering rays from the ground plane and adjacent moving obstacles. In addition, it was also found that the received signal strength of circularly co-polarized antenna shows the most strong envelopes and best fading reduction effect.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Previously, we have purified a highly thermostable ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (EC 2.7.7.27; AGPase) from <I>Thermus caldophilus</I> GK-24. In the present paper, we further report the molecular cloning and characterization of the thermostable bacterial AGPase. Using a 0.6-kb DNA probe obtained by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with a primer set deduced from the <I>N</I>-terminal and internal amino acid sequence, the AGPase gene was cloned. The cloned AGPase gene had a 1245-bp open reading frame that encodes a protein of 414 amino acids. Then, the full-length AGPase gene was further cloned into the pHCE19T(II) vector and was expressed in <I>Escherichia coli</I> DH5α. Western analysis of the recombinant enzyme showed the same immunity as the wild-type enzyme with a molecular mass of ca. 46kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The kinetic parameters of the recombinant AGPase were basically similar to the wild type. The <I>N</I>-terminal region of <I>T. caldophilus</I> AGPase showed a partial similarity to that of <I>E. coli,</I> and R336 and P295 were identical to those of <I>E. coli</I> AGPase. In addition, sequence comparison revealed that R177 and P235 of <I>T. caldophilus</I> AGPase were aligned with K195 and K247 of <I>E. coli,</I> and K376 with R386, while K195 residue of <I>E. coli</I> was reported to be located in the glucose-1-phosphate (Glc-1-P) substrate binding region.</P>

<P>A series of aryl-substituted fullerene derivatives were prepared in which the aromatic moiety of [6,6]-phenyl C<SUB>61</SUB>-butyric acid methyl ester (PC<SUB>61</SUB>BM) was modified by replacing the monocyclic phenyl ring with bicyclic naphthalene (NC<SUB>61</SUB>BM), tricyclic anthracene (AC<SUB>61</SUB>BM), and tetracyclic pyrene (PyC<SUB>61</SUB>BM). The PC<SUB>61</SUB>BM derivatives were synthesized from C<SUB>60</SUB> using tosylhydrazone and were tested as electron acceptors in poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT)-based organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs). The lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy level of NC<SUB>61</SUB>BM (−3.68 eV) was found to be slightly higher than those of PC<SUB>61</SUB>BM (−3.70 eV), AC<SUB>61</SUB>BM (−3.75 eV), and PyC<SUB>61</SUB>BM (−3.72 eV). The electron mobility values obtained for the P3HT:PC<SUB>61</SUB>BM, P3HT:NC<SUB>61</SUB>BM, P3HT:AC<SUB>61</SUB>BM, and P3HT:PyC<SUB>61</SUB>BM blend films were 2.39 × 10<SUP>–4</SUP>, 2.27 × 10<SUP>–4</SUP>, 1.75 × 10<SUP>–4</SUP>, and 2.13 × 10<SUP>–4</SUP> cm<SUP>2</SUP> V<SUP>–1</SUP> s<SUP>–1</SUP>, respectively. P3HT-based bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells were fabricated using NC<SUB>61</SUB>BM, AC<SUB>61</SUB>BM, and PyC<SUB>61</SUB>BM as electron acceptors, and their performances were compared with that of the device fabricated using PC<SUB>61</SUB>BM. <P>Ligularia fischeri (LF) has been used as an edible herb and traditional medicine for the treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases. In the present study, we report the effects and molecular mechanism of the ethanolic extract of LF on cell proliferation, invasion and tube formation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). LF-mediated inhibition of cell proliferation was accompanied by reduced expression of cell cycle-related proteins such as cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) and cyclins, leading to pRb hypophosphorylation and G1 phase cell cycle arrest. We also show that LF treatment inhibited cell invasion and tube formation in HUVECs. These anti-angiogenic activities of LF were associated with the inactivation of mitogenic signaling pathways, induction of vascular endothelial (VE)-cadherin distribution at cell-cell contacts and inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression. Collectively, our findings demonstrate the pharmacological functions and molecular mechanisms of LF in regulating endothelial cell fates, and support further development as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment and prevention of angiogenesis-related disorders including cancer.</P>

<P>Chinese cabbage is one of the most important leafy vegetables widely used in East Asian cuisines. The glucosinolate (GSL) accumulation and transcript levels of 7 transcription factors (Dof1.1, IQD1-1, MYB28, MYB29, MYB34, MYB51, and MYB122, and their isoforms) involved in the biosynthesis of aliphatic and indolic glucosinolates (GSLs) were analyzed at different stages of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) seedlings under light and dark conditions using high performance liquid chromatography and quantitative real time PCR. During seedling development, transcription of almost all transcription factors under light conditions was higher expressed than under dark conditions. Five aliphatic GSLs (progoitrin, sinigrin, glucoalyssin, gluconapin, and glucobrassicanapin) and four indolic GSLs (4-hydroxyglucobrassicin, glucobrassicin, 4-methoxyglucobrassicin, and neoglucobrasscin) were detected. Total GSL contents under light conditions 6, 8, and 10 days after sowing (DAS) were 3.2-, 3.9-, and 6.9-fold higher, respectively than those of dark conditions. Interestingly, total GSL contents 2 {85.4 micromol/g dry weight (DW)} to 10 (7.74 micromol/g DW) DAS under dark conditions were gradually decreased. In this study, our results suggest that light affects the levels of GSL in Chinese cabbage seedlings. These results could be useful for obtaining cabbage varieties rich in GSLs.</P>
