오늘날 현저한 CO2 레이저의 응용 추세에 발맞추어 보다 다양한 형태의 출력 제어 기술이 대두되고 있다. 본연구에서는multi-Pulse Superposing-Discharge 기술을 이용하여 다양한형태의 CO2 레이저의 펄스를 성형 하였다. 펄스 성형을 위한 방법으로 PIC one-chip microprocessor를 이용하여 삼중 PFN 모률의 SCR을 각각 고유의 지연시간을 가지도록 제어하였다. 실험에 사용된 삼중 PFN 모률의 전원 회로는 각각 캐패시터 인덕터,SCR,고압 펄스 트랜스 그리고 고압 트랜스 2차측에 브릿지 정류기로 구성 하였다. 고압 펼스 트랜스의 1차측을 제어하므로서 PFN 모률의 동작을 저 전압에서 수행 할 수 있다. 트랜스의 2차측에 연결된 전파 정류기는 펄스 에너지를 부하에 지속적으로 전달한다. 본 연구에서는 삼중 PFN 모률의 각각의 SCR을 다른 시간 가격을 두고 트리거 하므로서 다양한 Long pulse shaping을 실현하였다. 또한 약 250-1000μs 의 주기를 가지는 다양한 펄스형 레이저 빔을 얻었다.

Background/Aims: Quantitative HBsAg (qHBsAg) titers are emerging as useful tools for measuring viral load and predicting predicting virologic response (VR). This study aimed to determine whether serial monitoring of HBsAg levels could predict virologic response to entecavir(ETV) & clevudine(CLV) therapy in treatment-naive patients with CHB Methods: A total of 157 treatment-naive patients with CHB, who visited Chung-Ang University Hospital between January 2007 and December 2008, were enrolled in this study (100 males). 97 patients(69 males, mean age 48) were treated with ETV for average 53 months, and 60 patients (31 males, mean age 43) were treated with CLV for 26months average. HBsAg levels were measured at baseline, week 12, 24, and 48. All patients were assessed for virological response (HBV DNA<140 copies/mL). Serum HBV DNA was quantified using the real time PCR assay (Artus HBV LC PCR Kit, Roche Diagnostics, lower limit of quantification, 140 copies/mL). Results: In 97 ETV-treated patients, the rates of virological response were 56.7% (55/97) at 48months and 60 CLV-treated patients, 30% (18/60) at 24 months, respectively. Mean reduction of baseline HBV DNA was -5.3, and -4.9 log10 copies/mL. In 55 VR patients treated with ETV, 43(78.1%) patients showed early decline of HBsAg titer and 31(56.3%) patients had lower baseline HBsAg levels (< 3.7 log IU/mL). In 18 VR patients treated with CLV, 9(50%) patients showed early decline of HBsAg titer and 11(61.1%) patients had also lower baseline HBsAg levels (< 3.7 log IU/mL) . Conclusions: Early decline of HBsAg was useful for predicting VR, and baseline HBsAg could be indicative as well in CHB patients treated with ETV than patients treated with CLV.

The purpose of this research aims to reveal how radish kimchi (Jong-ga) differs in Jong-ga recipes and old cookbooks. To accomplish this, old cookbooks ("Soowoonjabbang", "Jusiksiui", "Eumsikbangmunnira", "Siuejunsuh", "Banchandeungsok", and "Buinpilji") were reviewed and 8 Jong-ga recipes (Seogye Park Se-dang from the Bannam Park clan Jong-ga, Myungsukgong from the Changnyeong Jo clan Jong-ga, Nampa Park Jae-gyu from the Milyang Park clan Jong-ga, Geunggudang Kim Joong-jeung from the Gwangsan Kim clan Jong-ga, Dongchundang Song Jun-gil from the Eunjin Song clan Jong-ga, Myeongjae Yun Jung from the Papyung Yun clan Jong-ga, Daeseunggong Ryu Cha-dal from the Munhwa Ryu clan Jong-ga, Inmukjae Son Sung-jeung from the Milseong Son clan Jong-ga) from five areas were reviewed. We classified the radish kimchi into five categories, radish kimchi, Dongchimi, kkakdugi, Seokbakji and Nabak kimchi and other kimchi. According to old cookbooks, most kimchi was made with radish, cabbage, cucumber, pear, yuju, fish meat, and salt. Modern Jong-ga is made of seasoned radish, sticky rice paste, seafood, sugar, powdered pepper, fish sauce and salt. This study helps to understand notable clans' cultures via their recipes for kimchi.

<P>We developed a chair-attached, nonintrusive photoplethysmogram (PPG) measuring system for everyday life, unconstrained monitoring using nonskin-contacting sensor-amplifier circuits capable of emitting suitable light intensity adaptable to clothing characteristics. Comparison between proposed and conventional systems showed reasonable correlation and root-mean-squared error levels, indicating its feasibility for unconstrained PPG monitoring.</P>
4-Hydroxynonenal Induces Endothelial Cell Apoptosis via ROS and Peroxynitrite Generation

지질과산화로부터 생성된 aldehyde 중 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE)는 산화적 손상과 관련된 다량의 arachidonic acids, linoleic acids 등으로부터 생성될 수 있다. 그러므로 HNE는 산화적 스트레스와 관련된 세포사에서 중요한 매개인자로 작용을 할 수가 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 HNE가 세포사를 유발할 것이라 가정하고, 먼저 흰쥐 전립선 유래 내피세포인 YPEN-1 세포에서 세포독성을 측정하였다. 세포생장 저해능력은 HNE를 5~15 μM 농도로 처리하여 형태적 변화와 MTT assay를 통하여 결과를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 HNE가 이 세포에서 핵형의 변화와 세포사를 유발시키는 것을 각각의 실험을 통해 확인이 되었다. 또한 이 사실을 단백질의 변화를 통하여 확인을 할 수가 있었다. HNE를 24시간 처리한 세포에서 poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 단백질 분절이 매개되었고 Bax의 발현량이 증가하였다. 또한 세포내의 활성 산소종들을 발생시켰다. 이에 생성된 활성 산소종과 peroxynitrite가 세포사와 관련이 있는가를 밝히기 위하여 이들의 포식자들인 N-acetylcysteine과 penicillamine을 본 연구에서 사용하였다. 이들 포식자들에 의해 HNE에 의해 유도되는 세포사가 억제가 되었기에 산화적 활성화가 HNE에 의해 유도된 세포사와 관련이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과들은 HNE가 내피세포에서 ROS와 peroxynitrite 생성을 통하여 세포사를 일으킨다는 사실을 뒷받침해 준다. The formation of reactive lipid aldehydes, 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE) is shown to be derived from fatty acid hydroperoxides through the oxidative process. Among its known effects in cytotoxicity, HNE has been implicated in apoptotic cell death. To delineate its putative role as a potential mediator, we investigated the mechanism by which HNE induces apoptosis of endothelial cells (ECs). The anti-proliferative effects of HNE were tested through MTT assay after exposure to various concentrations (5~15 μM) of HNE. We observed apoptotic bodies with propidium iodide staining, and measured the HNE induction of endothelial apoptosis by flow cytometry assay. We observed that cells exposed to HNE for 24 hr resulted in increased poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage and up-regulation of Bax. Data on the HNE action strongly indicated the involvement of reactive species, namely, intracellular ROS, nitrite, and peroxynitrite. To obtain evidence on the implication of ROS and peroxynitrite in HNE-induced apoptosis, a ROS scavenger, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), and a peroxynitrite scavenger, penicillamine, were tested. Results clearly indicate that the induction of apoptosis by HNE was effectively inhibited by NAC and penicillamine. Based on the present data, we conclude that the endothelial apoptosis induced by HNE involves both ROS generation and peroxynitrite activity. Our new data could lead to a redefinition of HNE action on apoptosis in ECs.

GOALS AND BACKGROUND: Little is still known regarding the clinical features and prognosis of gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma without Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. STUDY: From January 1996 to April 2006, a total of 185 patients with gastric MALT lymphoma were enrolled at Seoul National University Hospital. To assess the differences in clinical characteristics and long-term outcomes between H. pylori-negative (n=29, 15.7%) and H. pylori-positive (n=156, 84.3%) cases, we compared these 2 types of lymphoma. RESULTS: The overall median follow-up period was 39 months. There were no significant differences between the 2 groups in terms of age, macroscopic phenotype, or histologic grade. H. pylori-negative group showed male predominancy (72.4%) and higher percentage of proximal stomach location (62.1%). Although H. pylori-negative lymphomas were more frequently presented as advanced disease (stage IIE or IV, 37.9%), no significant differences in both the overall complete response and overall survival rates were observed between the 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that H. pylori-negative gastric MALT lymphoma shows a favorable long-term outcome, which is comparable to that of H. pylori-positive lymphoma.
