Comparison on the genomic structure and phylogenetic relationship of the Hsp88 genes from P. tenuipes Jochoen-1, P. tenuipes, C. militaris and C. pruinosa was described. The Hsp88 genes from the three entomopathogenic strains, P. tenuipes Jocheon-1(strain), P. tenuipes(original species), and C. militaris contain the identical genomic structure, namely 5 introns and 6 exons with the length of 13, 62, 32, 1,438, 306, 288 nucleotides encoding 713 amino acid residues, whereas in case of C. pruinosa, it contains 4 introns and 5 exons with the length of 13, 62, 32, 1,744, 288 nucleotides encoding 713 amino acid residues. The genomic DNA length of the Hsp88 genes from P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 and P. tenuipes are both 2,600 nucleotides long in size. The Hsp88 genes from C. militaris and C. pruinosa are 2,582, 2,576 nucleotides long in size, respectively. Hsp88 genes of the P. tenuipes Jochoen-1, P. tenuipes, C. militaris and C. pruinosa also contain the conserved ATP-binding domain. Phylogenetic analysis of the Hsp genes of the four strains tested in this study showed that the fungal Hsp88 is divided into two separate clades, ascomycetes and deutromycete. Within the ascomycetes fungal clade, the P. tenuipes Jochoen-1 and P. tenuipes formed a subgroup, on the other hand, C. militaris and C. pruinosa formed another subgroup. Pair-wise comparison of P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 Hsp88 with those of P. tenuipes, C. militaris and C. pruinosa Hsp88s revealed significant identity in deduced amino acid sequence among these strains. The P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 Hsp88 showed 99% identity with the P. tenuipes, 97% identity with the C. militaris, and 98% identity with the C. pruinosa.

The full-length heat shock protein 88 (HSP88) complementary DNA (cDNA) of Paecilomycestenuipes Jocheon -1 was obtained by screening the Paecilomyces tenuipes (P. tenuipes )Jocheon-1 Uni-Zap cDNA library and performing 5` RACE polymerase chain reaction(PCR). The P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 HSP88 cDNA contained an open reading frame (ORF) of2, 139-basepair encoding 713 amino acid residues. The deduced amino acid sequence of theP. tenuipe s Jocheon-1 HSP88 cDNA showed 77% identity to Nectria haematococca HSP88and 45-76% identity to other fungal homologous HSP88s. Phylogenetic analysis and BLAST program analysis confirmed that the deduced amino acid sequences of the P. tenuipesJocheon-1 HSP88 gene belonged to the ascomycetes group within the fungal clade. The P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 HSP88 also contained the conserved ATPase domain at the N-terminalregion. The cDNA encoding P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 HSP88 was expressed as an 88 kilodalton(kDa) polypeptide in baculovirus-infected insect Sf9 cells. Under higher temperature conditionsfor the growth of the entomopathogenic fungus, mRNA expression of P. tenuipes Jocheon-1HSP88 was quantified by real time PCR (qPCR). The results showed that heat shock stressinduced a higher level of mRNA expression compared to normal growth conditions.

The objectives of this study were to characterize the food service managements in university food services. In a survey involving university food service centers throughout the country, the importance, performance scores and policies for food service management were investigated. Of the total 40 institutions surveyed, 23 were run directly by the institution, eight by contract, and nine by rental. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA using the SPSS progam. Management system was evaluated separately for organization, human resources, finance, nutrition education, purchasing, quality control, sanitation and safety, and marketing for their relative importance, degree of performance, and policy establishment. It was found that the relative importance scored higher than the degree of performance and policy establishment. When rhe relative importance for the direct, contract and rental operations was compared, the rental operation scored the highest. Performance score of direct was the highest in direct operation. The findings of this research suggest that the university food service should be creative through systematic management, and further research is needed to evaluate various variables that influence productivity, such as employee morale, pleasant working environment, customer satisfaction, and introduction of TQM for university food services.

A new dark pink colored standard rose (Rosa hybrida Hort.) cultivar, 'Global Pink' was developed by the cross between 'Nobless' and 'Belami' at the Jeollanamdo Agricultural Research and Extention Services (JARES) through seedling and line selection in 2003 and characteristic evaluations during 2004~2006. 'Global Pink' showed Red purple group color (RHS No. 65B), very weak fragrance, and standard flower with good harmony between ray florlet and flower center. Its yield was 134 stems/m2 averaged over three years (2004-2007). It showed 10 days vase life and was resistant to powdery mildew. This cultivar was registered as a commercial cultivar in 2007. It can be cultured in greenhouses in Korea and will be released to the farmers in 2009.

This study aims to get basic datea on the usual dietary forms of many korean families bringing up either elementary, or junior high or senior high students. Our interest is focused on which factor is decisive in shaping their diet, which way of cooking is preferred and how the korean traditional way of diet is preserved. 407 of housewives of suweon city answered the questions, and the result shows that more than half of them (54.1% decide the contents of their diet according to their husbands' taste 77.4 of them regard dinner as the most important meal. The number of side dishes are usually 3 or 4 (57.2%). In preparing their diet, 41% take account of `taste' first, but for many of college graduate housewives `nutrition' is the primary concern. As for main dish, cooked rice (55.3%), and soybean soup (66.1%) are preferred. Both meat and fish are commonly grilled. 83.1% of them enioy dining out once or twice a month, and when they they dine out, korean-style restaurant is preferred (43.7%). The most frequently used processed food is ham (19.2%), and secondly, ramyon (17.8%).

The objectives of this study were to analyze the factors that affect the productivity for university food services. In a survey involving four-year university dining centers throughout the country, and correlations among thriteen different variables that affect productivity were determined. Productivity index (PI) was determined by meals per hour, the average score for 38 institutions was found to be 14.2 meals/hour. For serving methods, the fixed ration had a higher PI than the self-serving. When two types of serving trays were considered, the PI of the compartmantalized trays was higher than that of the tray accompanying saparate small dishes. When single (S)-or multiple(M)-menu was compared with the cafeteria style, a higher PI was obtained by the S-or M-menu. Among the three operation systems, the PI was found to be the highest by direct operation (17.6 meals/hour), followed by contract operation (11.1 meals/hour) and rent operation (7.9 meals/hour). For the factors that affect the productivity of the university food services, the total number served (r=0.54, P<0.001) and the use of convenient food items (r=0.28, P<0.05) exhibited positive correlations, while food costs and labor costs showed negative correlations. This suggests that the productivity of university food service increases as the total number served and the use of convenient food item increased, but decreases as the food costs and labor costs per meal increased. A regression analysis showed that three variables - total number served, labor cost per meal, number of employees-influenced about 73% components of food service showed a negative correlation with PI and a positive correlation with the labor cost per meal.

A 60-year-old woman with end stage liver cirrhosis caused by genotype 2 hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection received an orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). The patient was negative for the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and positive for the anti-hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) prior to and one and a half months following the OLT. Due to reactivation of hepatitis C, treatment with interferon-alpha and Ribavirin started two months following the OLT and resulted in a sustained virological response. We performed a liver biopsy because a biochemical response was not achieved. Surprisingly, liver pathology showed HBsAg-positive hepatocytes with a lobular hepatitis feature, which had been negative in the liver biopsy specimen obtained one and a half months post- OLT. High titers of both HBsAg and HBeAg were detected, while anti-HBs antibodies were not found. Tests for IgM antihepatitis B core antibody and anti-delta virus antibodies were negative. The serum HBV DNA titer was over 1×107 copies/ mL. A sequencing analysis showed no mutation in the "a" determinant region, but revealed a mixture of wild and mutant strains at an overlapping region of the S and P genes (S codon 213 (Leu/Ile); P codons 221 (Phe/Tyr) and 222 (Ala/ Thr)). These findings suggest that de novo hepatitis B can develop in patients with HCV infection during the post-OLT period despite the presence of protective anti-HBs. (Gut Liver 2011;5:248-252)
