        목재가 선적된 선창에서 발생한 산소결핍에 의한 질식사

        Oxygen deficiency has been frequent in a clouted space. Wood consumes oxygen and discharges carbon dioxide Instead of photosynthesis in closed space without light, so do some microorganisms on the surface. We experienced a case that a healthy Insect-proofer fell down and died of asphyxia on stair-board at 7 m below the hatch of the cargo-hold shipping wood Analysis of gases in cargo-hold revealed O2; 12.3%, CO; 105 ppm, CH4; 2.7%, and H2S; 1.9% at 1 m below the hatch, and then O2; 6.1%, CO; 220 ppm, CH4; 2.9%, and H2S, 2.3 ppm at 2.5 m below the hatch. Autopsy findings were unremarkable. We justiced the cause of death asphyxia due to oxygen deficiency. As seen in this case, the serious oxygen deficiency was accounted for oxygen consumption by wood and microorganisms.

        To investigate the prognostic factors for the survival of transplanted kidney in patients with end-stage renal failure, 59 cases of renal transplantation from September 1986 to Feburary 1997 in Chungnam National University Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. The results were as follows: 1)The mean age of recipients was 33.8 years and that of doners was 38.9 years. The male to female ratio of recipients was 2.5:1, and that of donors was 1.03:1 2) Living related donore(LRD) were 79.6% and living non-related donors were 20.3%. The HLA-identical donors(ID) in LRD were 18.7% and HLA-haploidentical donors(HID) were 61.0%. In living non-related donors(LNRD), mean matched HLA-AB antigens were 1.56 and mean matched HLA-DR antigens were 0.56. 3) The average 5-year patient survival fate was 94%, and average 5-year graft survival rate was 70%. The 5-year graft survival fate of HLA-ID was 100%, and those HLA-HID and LNR were 70% and 36% respectively. 4) Total 33 episodes of acute rejection were found in 45.8% of transplanted patients. The number of acute rejection episode did not show significant difference between LRD and LNRD(P > 0.05). There was no significant difference in MLC between two groups(p > 0.05). 5) In comparison between the 18 patients who lost their graft function in 5 years and 17 patients who are maintaining graft function for more than 5 years, MLC was significantly lower in patients with functioning graft than of patients with non-functioning graft (p < 0.05). The number of rejection episode was also lower in patients with functioning graft than that of the patients with non-functioning graft(p < 0.05). However, there were no significant difference in recepient and donor age and history of pre-transplantation donor specific transfusion between two groups. With the results above, we can speculate that adequate donor selection according to good matched HLA typing and low MLC is very important for graft survival in renal transplantation. Prevention and treatment of acute rejection in renal transplantation is also na important factor for graft survival.

      • 釜山市 아파트 居住地域의 形成過程과 地域類型 硏究

        The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of formation and locational characteristics of apartment residential area in Pusan. As attempts to understand the process of residential differentiation in intra-urban area, analysis was proceeded from a point of view of the housing supply. Materials for the supply aspect were acquired through the statistical data of public housing. Through the time-series and mapping analysis of the amount of apartment building using the number of households, process of formation of apartment residential area was identified. For the identification of geographical pattern of apartment area, cluster analysis was proceeded. Data were transformed by administrative units (Dong), and eight variables, which were judged to be suitable for the regionalization, were used. The major findings of this study can by summarized as follows ; The construction of apartments in Pusan was initiative in the downtown area in 1941, and grew rapidly in the mid 1970's. This was due to the housing problem caused by population growth in th period of economic development. During the first and second stages (1941∼1973) apartments were of small scale and low level because of lack of capital and limitation of construction technology. In this period only the Shiyoung apartment which was provided for the low class was built in large scale. Apartment built in this stages was distributed near the downtown area or along to the east coastal area. During the third and fourth stages (1974∼1986), apartments of large scale, high level, high quality were built. In this period apartments were built by private construction companies reflecting social and economical situations for the housing markets and by government's investment to solve the housing problem. In this stages speculative investment ran into the housing market. In the third stage (1974∼1982), the construction of apartments expanded throughout the whole city, and large scale apartments are distributed significantly in the outswall area. During the fourth stage(1983∼1986), spatial differentiation became evident in the form of concentric patterns around the CBD and sub-CBD as the centers. The Fifth period(1987∼1989), the supply of housing decreases due to an overall economic recession, the real-estate stability policy of the government, and the shortage of building lot in Pusan. But in this stage through the housing application system was construction of apartment led by government. During this stage, the construction occurred in near the central places rather than in the outwall areas. By cluster analysis, five genenic regions were derived and the characteristics of each regions were very different. The apartment in Pusan are distributed not concentric patterns but along the main streets because of landform environment. This is also parallel to area which have good traffic conditions close to the central place or work place (accessibility) or outwalls which are comfortable to live in (amenity). These results of this study show that the differentiation of the residential area in Pusan related to the housing supply. The housing supply is closely related to such factors as the economic conditions, government policies, decision of construction companies, the accessibility to the central place and the living condition of neighboring areas.

        Relationship between geometric errors which are due to X,Y,Z axis motion in milling machine and workpiece error is analyzed and the Simulation program that can forecast volumetric error in the working space of machine tool is developed. If the simulation program in this study is utilized, the volumetric error can be compensated in working space of machine tool because volumetric error can be forecasted in advance of machining by this simulation program. It is considered that the simulation program developed in this study can be applied to numerical control to improve workpiece accuracy.

        무수프탈산을 취급하는 근로자들의 알레르기 질환 유병 실태

        Phthalic anhydride(PA) is widely used in the production of alkyd and unsaturated polyester resins. It has been reported that some workers exposed to PA have developed dermatitis, rhinitis and asthma. The authors intended to investigate the prevalence of PA induced allergic diseases and to develop preventive measures of occupational diseases. Forty-five male workers from PA production and handling were selected as an exposure group. Forty-four male workers not handling PA at tie same factory were chosen as a reference group. A symptom questionnaire, doctor's examination, eosinophil count, serum-total IgE and PA-specific IgE were done on the subjects. There were no significant differences in age, educational level. tenure or smoking habits between groups. Most clinical symptoms were significantly more frequent among the exposure group than the reference group: sneezing(62.2%), rhinorrhea(57.8%), nasal stuffiness(53.3%), coughing(44.4%) and nasal itching(35.6%) were the major symptoms among the exposure group(p<0.01, p<0.05). There were no significant differences in eosinophil count and serum-total IgE between groups but the mean level in PA-specific IgE, in the exposure group, was statistically significantly higher than the reference group(p<0.01). Abnormal rates of eosinophil count, serum-total IgE and PA-specific IgE were not significantly different from each other. The prevalence rate was 68.9%(31 cases) for allergic rhinitis in the exposure group, statistically significantly higher than the reference group(p<0.01). The prevalence rate was 6.7%(3 cases) for bronchial asthma and contact dermatitis in the exposure group, not more statistically significant than the reference group. In the exposure group, the prevalence rate for age, educational level, tenure, smoking habits and use of protective devices are not statistically significant. In PA specific IgE, sensitivity is 10.8%, specificity is 100.0%, positive predictability is 100.0% and negative predictability is 61.2% when criteria point is 3.5 KU/ιor above. As a result, it was recognized that the exposure group had a high prevalence of PA induced allergic rhinitis. Also, in diagnosis of PA induced allergic diseases, medical histories and specific symptoms were the most important where as eosinophil count, serum-total IgE are the only indirect informations. PA-specific IgE has been needed to evaluate the meanings more.

      • 담낭염 및 담석의 임상적 연구

        A retrospective clinical analysis was performed on 152 patients with cholelithiasis who were admitted and treated surgically at the Department of Surgery of Chungnam National University Hospital from January 1995 through December 1996. The results were as follows. 1. The peak incidence of cholelithiasis was 6th decade (27.6%), followed by 7th decade, and the ratio of male to female was 1:1.3. 2. The duration of symptoms was within 1 month in 44.7% of patients. 3. The most common symptom and sign were RUQ abdominal pain (89.5%) and RUQ abdominal tenderness (58.6%). 4. The positive laboratory findings were eleveated ALT (42.8%), elevated AST (38.2%) and leukocytosis (38.8%). 5. The major associated conditions in cholelithiasis were cholecystitis (59.7%), cholangitis (15. 1%) and pancreatitis (9.2%). 6. The location of stones was most prevalent in the gallbladder (86.1%), followed by in the common bile duct (26.9%), and in the intrahepatic duct (12.5%). 7. The most common operative procedure was cholecystectomy (63.2%), followed by cholecystectomy and T-tube drainage (15.8%). 8. Bile was cultured in 44 cases, and the most frequent microorganism was E. coli (40.9%). 9. The postoperative complication rate was 34 of 152 (22.4%), among which residual stone and wound infection were most frequent. 10. The operative mortality was 0.7% and the cause of death was sepsis.

      • Hg₁-xMnxTe산화막의 홀효과에 관한 연구

        HClO₄(pH:2) 수용액에서 양극산화 방법으로 HgMnTe(HMT)의 표면에 산화막을 형성 시켰다. 산화막의 두께는 SEM으로 측정하였으며 10㎛였다. 전류-전압 특성곡선을 얻어 산화 피크 전압으로부터 HTeO₂?, TeO?, HHgO₂? 막이 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다. 산화시키지 않은 HMT와 HClO₄수용액에서 산화시킨 HMT에 대해 Hall전압 및 자기저항을 각각 측정하였다. 홀전압과 자기저항은 HMT보다 HMT산화막에서 더 컸으며 이것은 HHgO₂? 공격자가 홀의 역할을 하고, TeO₄? 산화막은 전하의 포획도를 낮게하기 때문으로 생각할 수 있다. Anodic oxidation processes on HgMnTe surface has been studied in standard aqueous HClO₄(pH:2) solution. The 10㎛ thickness of the anodic oxide layers was measured by SEM. The Composition of the anodic oxide layers are evaluated from current-voltage(I-V) characteristic of HgMnTe Oxidation. The layers are composed of mixed oxide. ??, TeO₄, and?? in HClO₄solution. Transport properties have been investigated in HMT oxide layer made in HClO₄solution and virgin HMT samples at 300K. Hall voltage and magnetoresistance are greater in oxide layer HMT than virgin HMT. As a result, we know that the vacancy of ??in an anodic oxide layer acts as hole and the resulting oxide ?? layer exhibit a reduced degree of charge trapping and increase magnetoresistance.

        Panax ginseng Protects Against Global Ischemia Injury in Rat Hippocampus

        Based on the use of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer (Family Araliaceae) for the treatment of stroke in traditional Korean medicine, the present study was carried out to evaluate neuroprotective effects of P. ginseng after transient global cerebral ischemia using the four-vessel occlusion rat model. Nissl staining, lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde [MDA] formation), and activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) of rat brain were assessed. Ethanolic P. ginseng extract (200 mg/kg, i.p.) significantly protected CA1 neurons against 10 minutes of transient forebrain ischemia as demonstrated by measuring the density of neuronal cells. P. ginseng also significantly decreased the level of MDA and increased the expression of GPx and SOD. These results suggest that P. ginseng might be neuroprotective against cerebral ischemia-induced injury in rat brain by decreasing lipid peroxides and increasing the expression of GPx and SOD.

      • Synthesis and characterization of 9,10-diphenylanthracene-based blue light emitting materials

        <P>A new series of conjugated polymers having diphenylanthracene vinylene biphenylene and diphenylanthracene vinylene terphenylene in the main chain and fluorene pendant group, were synthesized by nickel catalized Yamamoto coupling and palladium catalized Suzuki coupling. The obtained polymers showed good solubility in the common organic solvent and number average molecular weights of 14,000–9500 with a polydispersity indexes ranging from 1.7 to 2.1. Both polymers possess excellent thermal stability with glass transition temperatures of 123–127 °C and the onset decomposition temperatures of 420–400 °C. The obtained polymers showed blue emission (λ<SUB>max</SUB> = 461 for PFPA and λ<SUB>max</SUB> = 455 nm for PFPAME) in PL spectra, specially, PFPAME containing diphenylanthracene vinylene terphenylenevinylene showed the consistent emission in the solution and film. The double-layered device with an ITO/PEDOT/PFPAME/LiF/Al structure has a turn-on voltage of about 5.8 V, maximum brightness of 152 cd/m<SUP>2</SUP> and an electroluminescent efficiency of 0.143 lm/W, and stable blue EL emission that is not altered by increased voltage. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
