Objective: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a significant respiratory disorder in premature infants, and its prevalence remains high at 35% to 40% of very low gestational age (<28 weeks gestation). The aim of this study is to analyze the respiratory outcomes of BPD in neonatal intensive care unit as well as respiratory outcomes over a corrected age of 18 to 24 months using 3 different definitions of BPD (National Institutes of Health [NIH] 2001, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development [NICHD] 2018 and Jensen 2019). Methods: We conducted a study on infants under 32 weeks of gestation between 2012 and 2021 at Ajou university hospital. First, we compared the incidence of BPD, mortality, and length of hospital stays. To evaluate long-term respiratory outcomes, the number of re-admissions and prescriptions due to respiratory problems were analyzed. Results: NIH 2001 showed an incidence of 281 (40.0%), NICHD 2018 showed 139 (19.7%), and Jensen 2019 showed 137 (19.5%). In grade III of Jensen 2019, it demonstrated the highest severity with mortality rate of 29.4% and an average length of hospital stay of 42.5 weeks. Also, it was confirmed that the period of use of invasive ventilator was the longest at 87.8±60.3 days. In the analysis of re-admission and prescription counts, grade III showed statistically significant higher occurrences in both NICHD 2018 and Jensen 2019 than NIH 2001. Conclusion: The latest definitions of BPD have demonstrated to better represent both short-term and long-term respiratory severity in premature infants less than 32 weeks.

Nemaline myopathy is a genetically heterogeneous neuromuscular disorder and one of the most common congenital myopathies. The clinical manifestations usually vary depending on the age of onset. Neonatal nemaline myopathy has the worst prognosis, primarily due to respiratory failure. Several genes associated with nemaline myopathy have been identified, including NEB, ACTA1, TPM3, TPM2, TNNT1, CFL2, KBTBD13, KLHL40, KLHL41, LMOD3, and KBTBD13. Here, we report a neonatal Korean female patient with nemaline myopathy carrying compound heterozygous mutations in the gene KLHL40 as revealed using next generation sequencing (NGS). The patient presented with postnatal cyanosis, respiratory failure, dysphagia, and hypotonia just after birth. To identify the genetic cause underlying the neonatal myopathy, NGS-based gene panel sequencing was performed. Compound heterozygous pathogenic variants were detected in KLHL40: c.[1405G>T];[1582G>A] (p. [Gly469cys];[Glu528Lys]). NGS allows quick and accurate diagnosis at a lower cost compared to traditional serial single gene sequencing, which is greatly advantageous in genetically heterogeneous disorders such as myopathies. Rapid diagnosis will facilitate efficient and timely genetic counseling, prediction of disease prognosis, and establishment of treatments.
신규 항진균물질 AF-011A의 생물학적 활성 및 구조분석

토양에서 분리한 Pseudomonas cepacia AF6008로부터 항진균물질 AF-011A를 분리, 정제하여 생물학적 활성을 조사한 결과 in vitro에서는 기조의 항진균물질들보다 매우 우수한 활성을 보였으나, 감염동물시험에서는 Amphotericin-B보다 역가가 열세한 상황으로 반전되었다. 그 이유는 혈청단백질과 AF-011A의 상관관계에 의한 것으로 추측된다. 반면, 농약활성은 역가 측면이나 광범위성 측면에서 매우 우수한 결과가 얻어졌다. NMR을 이용한 AF-011A의 구조분석으로 조성물이 모두 확인되었으며 1차구조를 규명하였다. AF-011A is a novel antifungal cyclic glyco-peptide isolated from Pseudomonas cepacia AF6008. AF-011A is a mixture of AF-011A_1 and AF-011A_2. Each compound contains glycine(1), serine(2), asparagines(1), 2,4-diaminobutyric acid(1). β-hydroxytyrosine(1), xylose(1) and a methylene chain amino acid(1). Additionally, A_1 contains one β-hydroxyasparagine that is replaced with an asparagines in A_2. AF-011A showed high in vitro antifungal activity against various animal and plant pathogenic fungi and caused no irritation on the skin of rabbits.

In order to find a potent anti-methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) antibiotic, actinomycetes isolated from the samples collected in Korean marine silt were screened. From the culture broth of the isolated Streptamyces strain AM045, a substance showing excellent biological activity against MRSA was found, isolated and named AM3. The compound showed strong activities against MRSA, S. epideridis, E. faecium and E. faecalis, which were better than those of vancomycin and teicoplanin. Unfortunately, AM3 was identified as Actinomycin V. However, this paper reports the three dimensional study of AM3 based on high resolution nmr and Computer Aided Molecular Modeling(CAMM), and the fact that the structure of the pentapeptide lactone ring with oxo-proline in chloroform solution does not have $quot;C conformation$quot; any more.

This study focuses on the research for the future housing preferences of the baby boomers in Korea. The baby boomer generation in Korea means people who were born from 1955 to 1963. When they will be old in around 2020 it is expected that we will face serious social and economic problems. Though they will be directly affected due to aging they are not ready for this. This study is analyzed for the baby boomer generation in Busan living in their current housing status, housing preferences and future housing preferences and these clustering characteristics by groups are identified. As a result of dividing into groups they are classified into four categories: Location preferences, Social preferences, Economic preferences and Physical preferences. Therefore, the following conclusions were derived. First, their housing will be provided depending on the nature of different forms of housing they want according to preferred residential communities of affinity. In other words when formulating housing policy, locations, economics and physics will be well equipped. Second, Baby boomers in Busan tend to prefer detached house strongly and it is thought that they need the favorite housing land supply with location and affordability. Third, the favorite residential area tends to reduce rather than current residential area generally. In general, since people prefer the current 20 pyeonghyeongdae (more than 66 ㎡ ~ 99 ㎡ or less) and 30 pyeonghyeongdae (100 ㎡ ~ 132 ㎡ or less) a lot, in preparation for this the supply of housing will be necessary. Finally, even though most baby boomers prefer detached house and apartments, due to several constraints urban life, housing, welfare homes for the elderly, detached house , condominium, townhouse, and a variety of phenomena are shown realistically.
