One of the problems relating to frost formation in the field of aviation is the effects of Cold Soaked Frost. It is hazardous problem for which various solutions are the responsibility of several aviation administrations. Owing to the lack of computational research on frost formation such as on a wing surface, an advanced model for predicting frost thickness under a various range of flow conditions was developed and validated in this study. In evaluating the growth rate of the solid layer, the relation between the partial vapor pressure and the saturation pressure was used to determine the supersaturation degree. Frost thickness was assumed on the basis that the mass transfer effects associated with the diffusivity of the vapor are related mainly to the growth rate of crystallization. We performed a favorable regression procedure to find constant values for the correlation of the growth rate. The proposed frost thickness model was validated through the comparison of the simulation results with various experimental data for the case of a flat plate. The results obtained using the proposed model agree satisfactorily with the experimental data.

Objective This study aimed to examine the association between normal-but-low folate levels and cognitive function in the elderly population using a prospective cohort study. Methods We analyzed 3,910 participants whose serum folate levels were within the normal reference range (1.5–16.9 ng/mL) at baseline evaluation in the population-based prospective cohort study named the “Korean Longitudinal Study on Cognitive Aging and Dementia.” The association between baseline folate quartile categories and baseline cognitive disorders [mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia] was examined using binary logistic regression analysis adjusting for confounding variables. The risks of incident MCI and dementia associated with the decline of serum folate level during a 4-year follow-up period were examined using multinomial logistic regression analysis. Results The lowest quartile group of serum folate (≥1.5, ≤5.9 ng/mL) showed a higher risk of cognitive disorders than did the highest quartile group at baseline evaluation (odds ratio 1.314, p=0.012). Over the 4 years of follow-up, the risk of incident dementia was 2.364 times higher among subjects whose serum folate levels declined from the 2nd–4th quartile group to the 1st quartile than among those for whom it did not (p=0.031). Conclusion Normal-but-low serum folate levels were associated with the risk of cognitive disorders in the elderly population, and a decline to normal-but-low serum folate levels was associated with incident dementia. Maintaining serum folate concentration above 5.9 ng/mL may be beneficial for cognitive status.

This study was performed to find out the significant metaphtonymies of FEAR in English with quantitative analysis as a Corpus-based study. To identify the significant metaphtonymies of FEAR from the synchronic view, the data was extracted from COCA and analyzed in the light of Metaphtonymy with the statistics such as the relative frequency (FPR) and the standard error (SE). By analyzing metaphtonymies, it is natural that metaphtonymies are divided into metaphor from metonymy and metonymy within metaphor as per two types of source data. With the comparison between FPR and SE in each metaphtonymy, the general metaphtonymy of FEAR with significant value can be drawn out.

Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RF) is a disorder characterized by the presence of a retroperitoneal mass and concurrent systemic inflammation. Some cases of RF are recognized as belonging to the spectrum of immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD). Glucocorticoids are highly effective for treatment of retroperitoneal fibrosis, although the optimal dose and duration of therapy have not been established. An initial dose of prednisone (40-60 mg) daily is usually administered with a tapering scheme. We report on a 55-year-old man diagnosed with IgG4-related RF and successfully treated with a 3-day course of daily 250 mg (4 mg/kg) intravenous methylprednisolone, which resulted in the prompt resolution of urinary obstruction and systemic symptoms.
