      • 동적 작업 환경 기반의 다수의 사용자 간 행위분석을 위한 관찰 시스템 구축 및 분석

        본 연구는 동적이고 복잡한 작업 환경에서의 기존의 사용자 관찰 방법론에 대한 개선안을 제시한다. 사용자의 행위를 보다 구체적이고 정확하게 관찰하기 위해 1) RFID 를 이용하여 object tracking 을 수행하는 WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) system 2) 압력센서의 변화를 통해 사용자의 동선을 파악하는 smart floor monitoring system 3) 공간상에서의 과업수행 과정과 모습 등을 촬영하기 위한 video system 을 구축하였다. 상기 세가지 시스템을 통해 얻은 데이터는 시간적으로 동기화 되어 분석에 사용된다. 또한 본 연구에서 제안하고자 하는 사용자 행위 관찰 시스템의 효용성 검증을 위해 실제 커피숍 환경을 구축하여 커피숍 환경에서의 시나리오를 기반으로 실험을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 사용자의 행동 패턴 및 과업수행 과정을 개선하는 종합적인 분석을 시행하였다. The aim of the study is to improve existing methodology for user observation to evaluate user performance in a dynamic and complex work environment. We developed a new user behavior monitoring system to observe more specifically and accurately user behavior. 1) WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) System to observe object tracking using RFID. 2) Smart floor monitoring system to understand user movement through a pressure sensor’s change. 3) Video system to observe task performance process and appearance. Data obtained this three system are temporally synchronized. Also, the system is installed in an observation room where a model take-out coffee shop was simulated for verifying the utility of the proposed observation system. The system would provide comprehensive analysis to improve user behavior pattern and task performance process.

      • Awareness Study on the Accessibility of Home Appliances for People with Disabilities

        Accessibility was examined and evaluated for the home appliances made in Korea. Even though the home appliances are essential to everyday life, people with disabilities have limited access to them due to lack of accessibility features in the interfaces and controls. The needs of the disabled people in using various types of home appliances were examined through a survey. A survey on awareness of universal design of home appliances and accessibility-related standards was also conducted with the engineers and product designers of many big-name electronics companies. We found out a serious lack of understanding in accessibility and of awareness in related standards among the engineers and designers. Some suggestions were made for developing programs to increase the awareness of accessibility and to provide electronics companies with appropriate standards in home appliances.

      • 고령자를 위한 병원 안내 시스템 설계 및 사용성 평가 : 사용자 중심의 화면 인터페이스 및 인터랙션 설계와 시나리오 기반의 사용성 평가

        본 연구에서는 고령자의 인지적인 어려움과 모바일 플랫폼의 한계를 고려하여 고령자들이 본인의 진료 절차에 대해 실시간 안내 서비스를 받을 수 있는 병원 안내 시스템을 설계하고, 그에 적합한 사용성 평가를 실시하고자 한다. 고령자에게 특화된 병원 안내 시스템을 설계하기 위해 안내 기능을 일정 안내와 경로 안내로 세분화하고, 각각의 기능에 따라 화면 인터페이스와 화면 전환을 위한 인터랙션을 설계하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하고자 하는 병원 안내 시스템의 효용성 및 사용성 검증을 위해 프로토타입을 제작하고, 이를 바탕으로 실 사용자를 대상으로 한 시나리오 기반의 사용성 평가를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 향후 고령자들을 대상으로 하는 모바일 서비스의 사용성 및 부가가치를 높이는데 활용될 수 있을 것이다. This study aim to design guidance system, which helps users to know both clinical process and where to go, and carry out proper usability test. This system gives information in real-time. Difficulties of cognition of elder people and limitation of mobile platform are fully considered in this system. We separated function of this system into two: navigating the ways and informing schedules. The interaction for changeover display and interface of display depending on its own function is also designed. We made prototype to verify usability and utility of this system. We also implemented usability test based on scenario that aimed to users. This can be used to enhance usability and added value of mobile service that is for elderly.

      • A Study of Icon Shape of Car AVN(Audio, Video, Navigation) for Elderly Users

        Today, there are an increased number of elderly users using Vehicle AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation). Therefore, the purpose of this research is to suggest appropriate icons on designed screen to increase the elderly user’s convenience with using an AVN. To elicit the icons appropriately for the elderly users, icons are organized into 3 different shapes: small, big, and lined icons. Also, icons and texts are marked together, and the sizes of the texts are equal. The two targeted groups are elderly users in 50’s and 60’s, and time, the number of mistakes, the number of failure and satisfactory measurement during searching task were measured. The two-way ANOVA is used for the study; statistical analysis of time, the number of mistakes and failure by age groups on Icon shapes are analyzed. After experiment, the surveys are individually conducted for the satisfactory measurement. The analysis result shows that 50’s group, compare to 60’s group, generally have faster time of searching task and less number of mistakes and failures. The bigger icons are more satisfied than the other. More researches on other factors are needed later in the future; these will be utilized to increase vehicle AVN’s product convenience and added value targeting the future elderly users.

      • A Comparative Study of Handheld Devices and Freehand Gestures according to the Smart TV controls

        The research tests the cognitive burden of consumers through the use of smart TV’s various contents and services with different operation systems such as free hand or equipment gestures (permissive button, non-permissive button). The purpose of this study was to use the Smart TV features selected and verify by experiment a user-centered approach. The experiment selected 20 functions and 20 test subjects to repeatedly perform the 3 previously mentioned operation systems gestures for each function. As a result, the operation of each specific function was obtained representing the 3 gestures. The feedback agreement from each gesture was measured. Also, by measuring the time, preference, performance, and difficulty of each function the statistical difference between the operation systems was significant. Generally the free hand gesture was more convenient and preferred to consumers than the equipment gesture. The results showed these functions: volume +/-, channel +/-, scroll and point move are suitable to be used with gesture operation systems. Whereas mute, home, menu, and like functions were somewhat unsuitable. Through the results of the research on usability of Smart TV operation system, gesture operation methods can improve the user experience in the future.
