Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of oriental medical treatments on acute allergic contact dermatitis with multiple nummular eczema. Methods : We treated a 34-years-old woman patient with acute allergic contact dermatitis on face and multiple nummular eczema on both arm, right ankle and left inguinal region by Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 42 days in hospital, we measured the decrease of exudation and pruritis as well as recovery of skin damages. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusion : The symptoms of ACD and nummular eczema were significantly improved except scars. Exudation and pruritis were disappeared and skin damages were almost recovered until discharge from hospital. After 20 days we could confirm the symptoms were clearly disappeared. Thus Korean medical treatments are effective on ACD and nummular eczema.

N/A Leptospirosis is an acute septicemic and systemic disease caused by any one of a large number of serotype of Leptospira interrogans. We report here 7 cases of Leptospirosis including 6 cases with acute respiratory failure in which 3 cases were complicated by ARDS. Leptospirosis, a typically biphasic illness, is known to show various clinical manifestations according to serotype and geographic area. In Korea, the most characteristic clinical finding is pulmonary manifestations such as dyspnea, and hemoptysis. Leptospirosis also revealed clinical course that begins as a nonspecific febrile illness and have a tendency to progress to severe respiratory distress. Even though occurrence of ARDS in Leptospirosis is rare, Leptospirosis may be added to the growing number of diseases causing ARDS.

Objectives: This experimental study was carried out to evaluate the immune modulating and anti-tumor activity of Ampelopsis Radix extracts (ARE). Materials and Methods: To elucidate the effects of ARE on the macrophage and NK cell activity, we analyzed NO production, NK cytotoxicity and gene expressions of cytokine related with macrophage and NK cell activity. Results: ARE activated and promoted macrophages to product NO in part. And, ARE has significant properties to activate macrophages and NK cells by promoting related cytokines like IL-1, IL-12, IFN-$\gamma$, iNOS and TNF-$\alpha$ gene expressions. We also observed that ARE promoted protein expression of IFN-$\gamma$, and TNF-$\alpha$ in mice splenocytes. Conclusions: ARE is an effective herbal drug for immune modulating and anti-cancer by promoting activity of macrophages and NK cells.

The explosive growth of next-generation sequencing data has resulted in ultra-large-scale datasets and ensuing computational problems. In Korea, the amount of genomic data has been increasing rapidly in the recent years. Leveraging these big data requires researchers to use large-scale computational resources and analysis pipelines. A promising solution for addressing this computational challenge is cloud computing, where CPUs, memory, storage, and programs are accessible in the form of virtual machines. Here, we present a cloud computing-based system, Bio-Express, that provides user-friendly, cost-effective analysis of massive genomic datasets. Bio-Express is loaded with predefined multi-omics data analysis pipelines, which are divided into genome, transcriptome, epigenome, and metagenome pipelines. Users can employ predefined pipelines or create a new pipeline for analyzing their own omics data. We also developed several web-based services for facilitating downstream analysis of genome data.
