        일제말기(日帝末期)의 대일협력(對日協力)에 대한 심리적 갈등 양상 -채만식(蔡萬植)의 『민족의 죄인』을 중심으로-

        채만식의 『민족의 죄인』은 식민지 시대 작가 자신의 훼절(毁節)에 대한 소회(所懷)를 드러내고 있는 작품이다. 주인공 ‘나’는 식민지 시대의 후반부를 관통하는 중일전쟁(지나사변)과 태평양전쟁(대동아전쟁) 사이에 끼여 있는 존재다. 해방조국에서, 작가를 방불(彷佛)하는 주인공 ‘나’는 자신의 훼절에 대한 반성과 울분과 불쾌감 등으로 심리적 착종(錯綜) 상태에 있다. 『민족의 죄인』에 대한 연구는 주로 이 작품을 통해 작가 채만식이 자기 합리화를 도모하고 있는가? 에 초점이 모아지고 있다. 필자는 기존 연구의 성과 위에서 이 작품에 접근하는 새로운 관점을 제시해 보았다. 즉, 주인공 ‘나’가 조우(遭遇)하는 ‘윤’, ‘김’, ‘안해’, ‘조카’ 등 네 명의 인물을 작품 속 실재적 개인을 넘어, ‘나’의 복합심리가 투영된 상징적 존재로 보았다. ‘윤’은 ‘나’의 자학적(自虐的) 자아로 볼 수 있다. 작가 채만식의 성격적 요인의 하나인 청결벽(淸潔癖), 결벽증(潔癖症)과 연관시켜 보았을 때, ‘나’의 울분과 불쾌감은 자학으로까지 발전할 여지가 충분히 있다고 판단한다. ‘김’은 ‘나’의 변명적 자아로 볼 수 있다. ‘윤’과의 논쟁에서 ‘윤’의 상대적 깨끗함을 부잣집 아들로 태어났기 때문에 얻을 수 있는 행운 정도로 폄하(貶下)한다. 명백한 상황논리다. ‘김’의 관점에서 친일은 신념의 문제가 아니고 상황의 문제로 변질된다. ‘안해’는 ‘나’의 반성적 자아로 볼 수 있다. 그녀는 ‘나’에게 죄인임을 받아들이고 2세에 대한 지도와 교육에 매진할 것을 충고한다. 그것만이 민족 앞에 지은 죄를 갚는 유일한 길임을 역설한다. 작가 채만식은 반성에 이른 ‘나’의 면모를 ‘조카’와의 대화 속에서 드러낸다. 독자들은 그를 통해 ‘나’의 반성의 깊이를 확인 할 수 있다. 이런 의미에서 ‘조카’는 부정적이거나 가볍게만 볼 수 없는 존재다. ‘나’를 ‘윤’, ‘김’, ‘안해’, ‘조카’로 분리해 보았을 때, 작가 채만식은 자신을 심리적 갈등에 휩싸인 채 해방기에 던져진 불우한 존재로 객관화시키고 있다. Chae, Mansik's A sinner of the nation reveals the writer's falsification on colonial period. Protagonist is interrupted being who penetrate Sino-Japanese war and Pacific war on second half of colonial period. From the liberated motherland, protagonist who reminiscent of writer is in psychological difficult due to reflection and dullness and discomfort for his own falsification. The study on the A sinner of the nation mainly focus on self-rationalization through this work. I have presented a new approach to this work based on the results of previous research. I don't see four characters Yoon, Kim, wife and nephew whom protagonist met, as actual individuals in the work. I saw as a symbolic entity projected by the protagonist's complex psychology. Yoon can be regarded as a self-abase ego of the protagonist. When I relate to the clumsiness that personality factor of the Chae Mansik, the disgusting and discomfort of the protagonist are enough to develop into self-abuse. Kim can be seen as the apologetic ego of protagonist. In the controversy between Yoon and Kim, Kim underlines the relative cleanliness of Yoon as the luck of the rich. This is an obvious situation logic. In Kim's view, pro-japanese is not a matter of belief but a problem of the situation. Wife can be seen as a reflective ego of the protagonist. She accepts the protagonist as a sinner and advises him to lead and educate child. This is the only way to pay off the sins committed against the nation. Chae, Mansik reveals the protagonist's face in the conversation with his nephew. Readers can see the depth of the protagonist's reflection. In this sense, nephew is neither negative or light. When I separated the protagonist into Yoon, Kim, wife and nephew, Chae, Mansik is objectifying himself as an unfortunate being thrown into the liberation period.

        Novel Discovery of LINE-1 in a Korean Individual by a Target Enrichment Method

        Long interspersed element-1 (LINE-1 or L1) is an autonomous retrotransposon, which is capable of inserting into a new region of genome. Previous studies have reported that these elements lead to genomic variations and altered functions by affecting gene expression and genetic networks. Mounting evidence strongly indicates that genetic diseases or various cancers can occur as a result of retrotransposition events that involve L1s. Therefore, the development of methodologies to study the structural variations and interpersonal insertion polymorphisms by L1 element-associated changes in an individual genome is invaluable. In this study, we applied a systematic approach to identify human-specific L1s (i.e., L1Hs) through the bioinformatics analysis of high-throughput next-generation sequencing data. We identified 525 candidates that could be inferred to carry non-reference L1Hs in a Korean individual genome (KPGP9). Among them, we randomly selected 40 candidates and validated that approximately 92.5% of non-reference L1Hs were inserted into a KPGP9 genome. In addition, unlike conventional methods, our relatively simple and expedited approach was highly reproducible in confirming the L1 insertions. Taken together, our findings strongly support that the identification of non-reference L1Hs by our novel target enrichment method demonstrates its future application to genomic variation studies on the risk of cancer and genetic disorders.

      • Graphene Size Control via a Mechanochemical Method and Electroresponsive Properties

        <P>Highly dispersible graphene oxide (GO) sheets of uniform submicrometer size were successfully fabricated from pristine graphite using a simple mechanochemical process. The GO flake morphology was transformed into a spherical form, and the density was decreased slightly via the ball-milling process. Ball-milled GO can be used as an electrorheological (ER) material because of its small particle size, low conductivity, and outstanding dispersibility in silicone oil. We found that the 2-h ball-milled GO-based ER fluid had the best ER performance (shear stress of 78.5 Pa and 630% ER efficiency), which was double that of the nonmilled GO-based ER fluid. The response time to form a fibrillar structure along the applied electric field direction and the recovery time to the starting level decreased with increasing ball-milling time. Additionally, the retarded settling velocity of isolated GO sheets and the electrostatic repulsion between oxygen functional groups on the GO sheets combined to improve the antisedimentation property.       • Identical twin with discordant classification of pituitary adenoma, and different GNAS gene sequence

        The majority of pituitary adenomas are sporadic tumors with recognized genetic mutations seldom being found. And familial pituitary tumors account for about 5%, carrying germline mutations in predisposition genes, including MEN1, PRKAR1A, and AIP. But, about 85% of familial pituitary adenoma kindred have unknown genetic cause. Meanwhile, the concordant occurrence of pituitary adenoma in identical twins is extremely rare. This case which report different subtypes of pituitary adenoma occurred in identical twins could contribute to elucidate the tumorogenesis of pituitary adenoma. A 26-year-old woman visited hospital with amenorrhea for 1.5 years. Her initial serum prolactin level was 141.0 ng/mL. Sella magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a 0.6 cm sized right pituitary adenoma. After transsphenoidal surgery, serum prolactin level normalized and her menstruation returned regularly. Her twin sister had acromegalic features, such as enlarged face, hands and feet. Basal serum insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) levelwas 770.9 ng/mL. Sella MRI showed a 1.5 cm sized left pituitary adenoma.. Serum growth hormone (GH) level was not suppressed by 75g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). After tumor removal, serum GH level was suppressed by OGTT. Their pathologic results consisted with prolactinoma andgrowth hormone secreting tumor, respectively. In evaluating family history, their father’s brother had pituitary adenoma. Short tandem repeat (STR)analysis results consisted with identical twins. Because of their family history and early onset of pituitary adenoma, genetic test was done for determining familial pituitary adenoma. And, genetic alterations in sporadic pituitary tumor also evaluated, because different subtypes of pituitary tumor was occurred in identical twins. We found GNAS gene mutation only in acromegaly patient. But the primary oncogenic potential of GNAS mutations remains a matter of debate. Thus, a better understanding of the causative genes and the pathogenic mechanisms of pituitary tumorogenesis is needed to improve the diagnosis and management of pituitary tumor patients.

      • A Self-Reducible and Alcohol-Soluble Copper-Based Metal–Organic Decomposition Ink for Printed Electronics

        <P>We report a novel method for the synthesis of a self-reducible (thermally reducible without a reducing atmosphere) and alcohol-soluble copper-based metal–organic decomposition (MOD) ink for printed electronics. Alcohol-solvent-based conductive inks are necessary for commercial printing processes such as reverse offset printing. We selected copper(II) formate as a precursor and alkanolamine (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) as a ligand to make an alcohol-solvent-based conductive ink and to assist in the reduction reaction of copper(II) formate. In addition, a co-complexing agent (octylamine) and a sintering helper (hexanoic acid) were introduced to improve the metallic copper film. The specific resistivity of copper-based MOD ink (Cuf-AMP-OH ink) after heat treatment at 350 °C is 9.46 μΩ·cm, which is 5.5 times higher than the specific resistivity of bulk copper.         V-t Characteristics of a Mini-Cable Model Wound with PPLP for Superconducting Cables

        A distribution-level high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable connecting the Shingal and Heungdeok substations in South Korea was commercialized in 2019. This project successfully installed a 23 kV HTS cable between the secondary buses of two 154 kV substations. Furthermore, a triaxial HTS cable connecting the Munsan and Seonyu substations is scheduled for commercialization in 2024. An HTS cable wound with polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP) as an insulation medium operates in liquid nitrogen (LN2) because of its superior dielectric characteristics under cryogenic conditions. Generally, an HTS cable is known for its high efficiency and extended lifespan compared with conventional power cables because it experiences no thermal degradation owing to Joule heat generation. However, the dielectric characteristics of HTS cables may deteriorate over time because of their long-term operation in high-voltage environments. We conducted dielectric experiments on two types of PPLP with varying polypropylene (PP) ratios and pressures and examined their V-t characteristics using a mini-cable model.
