내적 상실과 회복의 이중주: A. E. 하우스먼과 박용철의 생애와 시(론)의 상관성 연구
정선영 ( Jeong Seonyoung ) 한국현대영어영문학회 2020 현대영어영문학 Vol.64 No.2
The purpose of this study is to compare the literary world of a British poet Alfred Edward Housman(1859-1936) and a Korean poet Park Yong-cheol(1904-1938). This paper examines the influence and value of the two and I would like to confirm through a comparative study with Park Yong-cheol that the world of Hausman’s works and the theory of poetry, which is relatively less well known than contemporary poets, has influenced modern Korean literature since the 1930s. This paper was based on the fact that Housman, the only poet of the time to find research results in the English literary world and in Korea, and Park Yong-cheol, a critic, English translator, and literary activist, share something in poetry and the subject matter is in common. Beyond the spatial gap between the West and the East, the two lived in the same era, and expressed their passion for life in poetry under the themes of ‘Inner Loss’ and ‘Recovery’ and, eventually this paper would like to prove the results of this study that the two poets present their self-reliance and positive thoughts through their lives and works. Rewriting Genesis-Reading Barbara Kingsolver`s Flight Behavior in Ecocriticism
정선영 ( Seonyoung Jeong ) 한국현대영어영문학회 2015 현대영어영문학 Vol.59 No.3
Barbara Kingsolver has inquired into the various perspectives and problems of environment and society. Flight Behavior (2012) can be defined as a way of project and literary practice of Kingsolver``s ``Rewriting Genesis.`` The goal is the genesis of a new world through metamorphosis of the ecosystem. In her novel, the importance of the son Prestone stands out, showing his role not as simply a child but more like Adam in the Bible, or takes responsibility for creation of Heaven and Earth like Abraham. Based on the biological kinship, it has a rippling effect like Butterfly Effect to expand into a much greater system. The ecosystem that Kingsolver suggests is an ideal community of human and the nature which moves toward the ecological inhabitation and harmony, in that it is not a habitat for women only but a sustainable habitation for future generations. To induce a change, it is inevitable to transform or overturn it, as Dellarobia, the desperate wife and perfect female, did. Kingsolver wants us to show a possible way through writing a new genesis with help of our kinship community. (Jeonnam National University)
생태적 위기와 『거북 섬』: 개리 스나이더의 생태적 실천과 그 이상향
정선영 ( Jeong Seonyoung ) 아시아문화학술원 2017 인문사회 21 Vol.8 No.4
The ecological poet Gary Snyder is recognized as an activist for ecological awareness. This paper explores Snyder`s fundamental ideas regarding ecological restoration and harmony between humans and Nature, illustrating these by excerpts from his poetry in the anthology Turtle Island. These excerpts reflect Snyder`s belief that non-dominant co-habitation among humans and other living creatures might offer a solution to the current ecological crisis. The paper goes on to discuss the relationship between Nature and humans as reflected by literary work, Snyder may have made a substantially greater contribution to the battle for ecological reform by advocating an alternative lifestyle by which humans might live in harmony with Nature. The paper concludes with a suggestion that mere praise for Snyder`s literary work like Turtle Island and real life in Kitkitdizze practices may be insufficient in the battle for ecological survival; his ideas need to be put into practice if future generations are to enjoy a harmonious life.
Integrative understanding of immune-metabolic interaction
( Seonyoung Im ),( Hawon Kim ),( Myunghyun Jeong ),( Hyeon Yang ),( Jun Young Hong ) 생화학분자생물학회 2022 BMB Reports Vol.55 No.6
Recent studies have revealed that the immune system plays a critical role in various physiological processes beyond its classical pathogen control activity. Even under a sterile condition, various cells and tissues can utilize the immune system to meet a specific demand for proper physiological functions. Particularly, a strong link between immunity and metabolism has been identified. Studies have identified the reciprocal regulation between these two systems. For example, immune signals can regulate metabolism, and metabolism (cellular or systemic) can regulate immunity. In this review, we will summarize recent findings on this reciprocal regulation between immunity and metabolism, and discuss potential biological rules behind this interaction with integrative perspectives.
The effects of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on proteins secreted by HepG2 cells were studied using a proteomic approach. HepG2 cells were exposed to various concentrations of DEHP (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 250 μM) for 24 or 48 h. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) and comet assays were then conducted to determine the cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of DEHP, respectively. The MTT assay showed that 10 μM DEHP was the maximum concentration that did not cause cell death. In addition, the DNA damage in HepG2 cells exposed to DEHP was found to increase in a dose- and time-dependent fashion. Proteomic analysis using two different pI ranges (4–7 and 6–9) and large size 2-DE revealed the presence of 2776 protein spots. A total of 35 (19 up- and 16 down-regulated) proteins were identified as biomarkers of DEHP by ESI-MS/MS. Several differentiated protein groups were also found. Proteins involved in apoptosis, transportation, signaling, energy metabolism, and cell structure and motility were found to be up- or down-regulated. Among these, the identities of cystatin C, Rho GDP inhibitor, retinol binding protein 4, gelsolin, DEK protein, Raf kinase inhibitory protein, triose phosphate isomerase, cofilin-1, and haptoglobin-related protein were confirmed by Western blot assay. Therefore, these proteins could be used as potential biomarkers of DEHP and human disease associated with DEHP.

Long-term treatment of allogeneic adipose-derived stem cells in a dog with rheumatoid arthritis
서민경,박세일,Seonyoung Han,Ah-Young Kim,Eun-Joo Lee,Kyu-Shik Jeong,Il-Hwa Hong 대한수의학회 2022 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.23 No.4
Background: Although there are growing demands for stem cell-based therapy for companion animals in various diseases, a few clinical trials have been reported. Moreover, most of them are the results from only one or a few times of stem cell injection. Objectives: The aim of this study is to describe a long-term treatment with allogeneic adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) in a dog with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which is a rare canine disease. Methods: The dog with RA received intravascular injection of allogeneic ASCs derived from two healthy donors once a month for 11 months. To assess therapeutic effects of ASCs, orthopedic examination and clinical evaluation was performed. Cytokines of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6 in the plasma were measured using ELISA analysis. Results: Despite this repeated and long-term administration of allogeneic ASCs, there were no side effects such as immunorejection responses or cell toxicity. The orthopedic examination score for the dog decreased after ASCs treatment, and the clinical condition of the dog and owner’s satisfaction were very good Conclusions: Although ASCs has been suggested as one of the options for RA treatment because of its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive functions, it has never been used to treat RA in dogs. The present report describes a case of canine RA treated with allogeneic ASCs for long-term in which the dog showed clinical improvement without adverse effects.
