Energy-Per-Bit Minimized Radio Resource Allocation in Heterogeneous Networks

<P>In this paper, we present an energy-per-bit minimized radio resource allocation scheme in heterogeneous networks equipped with multi-homing capability, simultaneously connecting to different wireless interfaces. Specifically, we formulate an optimization problem related to minimization of energy-per-bit which takes a form of nonlinear fractional programming. Then we derive a parametric optimization problem out of that fractional programming and solve the original problem by using a double-loop iteration method. In each iteration, we derive the optimal resource allocation policy by applying Lagrangian duality and an efficient dual update method. In addition, we present suboptimal resource allocation algorithms using the properties of the optimal resource allocation policy. Numerical results reveal that the optimal allocation algorithm improves energy efficiency significantly over the existing resource allocation algorithms designed for homogeneous networks and its performance is superior to suboptimal algorithms in reducing energy consumption as well as in enhancing network energy efficiency.</P>
A highly annotated whole-genome sequence of a Korean individual

Recent advances in sequencing technologies have initiated an era of personal genome sequences. To date, human genome sequences have been reported for individuals with ancestry in three distinct geographical regions: a Yoruba African, two individuals of northwest European origin, and a person from China. Here we provide a highly annotated, whole-genome sequence for a Korean individual, known as AK1. The genome of AK1 was determined by an exacting, combined approach that included whole-genome shotgun sequencing (27.8× coverage), targeted bacterial artificial chromosome sequencing, and high-resolution comparative genomic hybridization using custom microarrays featuring more than 24 million probes. Alignment to the NCBI reference, a composite of several ethnic clades, disclosed nearly 3.45 million single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), including 10,162 non-synonymous SNPs, and 170,202 deletion or insertion polymorphisms (indels). SNP and indel densities were strongly correlated genome-wide. Applying very conservative criteria yielded highly reliable copy number variants for clinical considerations. Potential medical phenotypes were annotated for non-synonymous SNPs, coding domain indels, and structural variants. The integration of several human whole-genome sequences derived from several ethnic groups will assist in understanding genetic ancestry, migration patterns and population bottlenecks.
도심 자율 주행을 위한 차선 수준 측위 기법 및 조향 제어

This paper describes a lane-level localization based on map-matching method and path tracking steering controller for automated driving to urban environment. Lane-level localization corrects the vehicle position with centimeter-level accuracy. Suppose to have a satisfactory level of position accuracy, a sensor fusion is essential with a low-cost GPS. A new sensor fusion approach for the lane level localization of a vehicle uses an around view monitoring (AVM) module and vehicle sensors. The proposed localization algorithm is composed of lane detection, position correction and localization filter. For line detection, a commercialized AVM module is used. Since this module can provides an image around the vehicle, vehicle position can be corrected by the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm. This algorithm estimates the rigid transformation between the lane map and lanes obtained by AVM in real-time. Corrected position is combined with the information from vehicle sensors based on the extended Kalman filter(EKF). An adaptive steering controller that has been already covered in other research is implemented to the test vehicle. The performance of the proposed localization algorithm is verified via vehicle tests on a proving ground. Test results show that the proposed method can achieve localization accuracy at the centimeter-level. The proposed algorithm will be useful in the implementation of automated driving control.

<P>Practical applicationsRamulus mori, a branch of Morus alba L., has been used as a traditional herb tea in Asia and is approved as a food source in South Korea, indicating it is safe. An ethanolic extract of R. mori containing oxyresveratrol (ERM) significantly suppresses lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and inhibits adipogenesis. ERM shows a strong antioxidative activity. Adipogenesis is the process of adipocyte differentiation, which leads to lipid accumulation in obesity. Obesity is one of metabolic disorders and a major risk factor for various chronic diseases. Additionally, antioxidants can protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Therefore, ERM could be developed as a health functional food to prevent obesity and many diseases caused by oxidative damage.</P>

가상 데스크탑은 서버상에 서버 가상화 기술을 사용하여 다수의 가상 머신을 실행하고,이를 네트워크로 연결된 클라이언트에서 사용하는 기술이다. 이러한,가상 데스크탑이 대중화됨에 따라 다양한 형태의 클라이언트들이 시장에 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 ARM 임베디드 시스템 기반의 가상 데스크탑 클라이언트를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 클라이언트는 임베디드 시스템 기반으로 소형화 및 저전력을 기본 특징으로 하며,하드웨어,운영체제,가상 데스크탑 소프트웨어 모듈로 구성된다. 가상 데스크탑 소프트웨어 모듈은 사용자 인증을 통하여 가상 데스크탑 서버에 접속하고, 가상 데스크탑 뷰어를 통하여 서버의 가상 데스크탑을 사용한다. 본 클라이언트는 실제 가상 데스크탑 서버에 접속하여 동작 실험을 하였으며,동영상 서비스까지 수행하는데 성능상에 문제가 없음을 확인하였다.
