Oxidation Catalysis over Crystalline Mo3VOx Catalysts for Selective oxidation of Ethane and Acrolein
( Satoshi Ishikawa ),( Wataru Ueda ) 한국공업화학회 2020 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2020 No.-
It has been well known that Mo-V based mixed oxide catalysts are extremely active for selective oxidation of ethane and acrolein. However, only a little has been known for their catalysis. In the presentation, details of the oxidation catalysis over the Mo-V based mixed oxide catalysts are investigated using the crystalline Mo3VOx (MoVO) catalysts as the examples. The catalytic activities for these reactions were originated from the heptagonal channel site in the crystal structure, while the acrolein was converted over the heptagonal channel exposed on the catalyst surface and the ethane oxidation took place inside the channel. The work presented here provides fundamental information about the oxidation catalysis for these reactions based on the crystal structure-catalytic activity relationship and offers the way for the rational catalyst design for creating the evolutional oxidation catalysts.

Background Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) is a rare causative pathogen ofbrain abscess that is often found in immunocompromised patients. Although patients with supratentorial listerial abscesses showed a longer survival with surgical drainage, the standardtherapy for patients with subtentorial lesions has not been established. Case Report We report herein a patient with supra- and subtentorial brain abscesses causedby L. monocytogenes infection. These abscesses did not respond to antibiotics, and his symptoms gradually worsened. Drainage was not indicated for subtentorial lesions, and the patientwas additionally treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which dramatically reduced the volume of abscesses and improved the symptoms. Conclusions This is the first report of drastic therapy for a patient with listerial brain abscesses involving combined antibiotics and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The findings suggestthat hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a good option for treating patients with deep-seated listerialabscesses and for who surgical drainage is not indicated.

Background: Foot ulcers are costly complication among diabetes patients. These patients have an increased risk of amputation and increased mortality rate. Early recognition of the high-risk foot and sufficient care will save legs and improve patients` quality of life. Figures of incidence of foot ulcers varies and there are only limited information in relation the change of incidence over time. The aim of this study was to estimate 5-year risk for diabetic foot ulcer (DFU), lower extremity amputation (LEA) and all cause of death. Methods: Retrospective cohort study including all subjects with diabetes enrolled in our diabetic outpatient clinic from beginning 2008 until middle 2014. Data were collected from clinical records. Results: 528 subjects with mean age of 61.3 (±13.8), 57.4% were male. The mean of HbA1c in diabetic patients at baseline were 8.1% +/- 1.9%. Cumulative incidence was 1.3% for DFU, 0.18% for LEA and 4.7% for all-cause of death. The prevalence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions, pneumonia were 2.3%, 1.9%, 2.3%, respectively. Cause of deaths was cancer (64%), pneumonia (20%), cardiovascular death (4%). Conclusions: Several factors may explain the incidence in diabetes-related LEAs. Diabetes prevention strategies and controlling risk factors are important in people with type 1 and 2 diabetes.

Purpose: Single-agent interferon (IFN) is no longer regarded as a standard option for first-line systemic treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in Western countries. However, some patients with favorable-risk RCC may still achieve complete and long-lasting remission in response to IFN treatment. The present study compared favorable-risk Japanese patients with metastatic RCC Japanese patients who had been treated with IFN or tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy as a first-line systemic therapy. Materials and Methods: From 1995 to 2014, a total of 48 patients with favorable risk as defined by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center criteria who did not receive adjuvant systemic therapy were retrospectively enrolled in this study. We assessed the tumor response rate, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS). Results: The objective response rate for first-line therapy was 29% in the IFN group and 47% in the TKI group, but this difference did not reach the level of statistical significance. Median OS for IFN and TKI was 71 and 47 months, respectively (p=0.014). Median first-line PFS for IFN and TKI was 20 and 16 months, respectively (no significant difference). First-line IFN therapy did not prove inferior to TKI therapy in terms of OS according to metastatic sites. Conclusions: IFN is associated with a survival benefit in Japanese patients with favorable-risk metastatic RCC in the era of targeted therapy. Further prospective study is needed.

Fruiting bodies were degraded themselves by the several glycoside hydrolases after spore releasing from mature fruiting bodies or harvesting. The enzymes involved in autolysis such as glucanase and chitinase have been studied. However, there are almost no information about the relationship between several glycoside hydrolases and autolysis. In this study, we studied to obtain the enzymatic properties of trehalase, and also to get the new information on the relationship between trehalase and autolysis. Crude enzymes were prepared from each fruiting body of Pleurotus sp. (from the immature stage to the autolysis stage) and the trehalase activities were measured at each growth stage. Trehalase activities sharply increased in autolysis stage. Trehalase was partially purified from fruiting bodies of the autolysis stage using various column chromatography and its properties were examined. The optimum temperature was 50 °C and the optimum pH was 4.5. In order to elucidate the localization of trehalase, fruit bodies of the autolysis stage were divided into the stipes and the pileuses, and the each trehalase activity was measured. High trehalase activities were found in the pileuses. Furthermore, in order to elucidate trehalase activities in autolysis more detail, the each fruiting body of autolysis progressing stages was finely divided into the stipes and the pileuses, and their activities were measured. The activities in the outer part of the pileuses were highest at the initial stage of autolysis and the activities shifted from the outer side to the inner side of the pileuses according to the progress of autolysis.

A mid-infrared free electron laser (MIR-FEL) (5 - 20 μm) facility (KU-FEL: Kyoto University Free Electron Laser) was constructed to aid in various energy science researchers at the Institute of Advanced Energy, Kyoto University. In May 2008, the first power saturation at 13.2 μm was achieved. A pilot application to evaluate selective phonon excitation processes in solid materials by irradiating with MIR-FEL was implemented, and a preliminary experiment without FEL irradiation was conducted. N-doped silicon carbide (SiC) was selected as a sample material due to its unique electrical property where the lattice vibration and electronic structure are coupled. Two peaks at 1.8 - 2.4 eV and 2.4 - 2.8 eV, which showed strong temperature dependences in both their intensities and peak energy, were observed. These tendencies could be explained by a donor-acceptor pair luminescence (DAP) model with impurity and defects in the SiC sample. The results imply that we can verify the selective phonon excitation by investigating the change of PL spectrum introduced by MIR-FEL irradiation.
