Sain, Mangal,Chung, Wan-Young,Lee, Hoon-Jae The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2011 Journal of information and communication convergen Vol.9 No.2

With the recent trends and the adaptation of further advancement in personal healthcare system leads to develop some application which can work independent and user can operate that application without much interference of physician or any specialist user. To meet these needs, this paper proposes and implements a progressive architecture for the personal healthcare information system. This new architecture will not only play the role of middleware but also provide a analysis tool to process that different sensor data which is collected from different sensors implemented on patient body and environment. After collecting that data, with the help of various developed applications this data can be convert into useful information which will be stored in application server for further use and research. These features can be enabled by simple and effortless interactions of normal users and act autonomously to support their activities. This proposed personal healthcare architecture will also provide analysis report to the doctors and patient or various users for further instructions. The analysis report consists of healthcare data analysis results and history of patients. We are considering healthcare data like ECG, which is an important aspect for basic healthcare need.

Synthesis of Highly Exfoliated PS/Na+-MMT Nanocomposites by Suspension Polymerization Using Na+-MMT Clay Platelets as Suspension Stabilizer

        Sunanda Sain,B. B. Khatua 한국고분자학회 2011 Macromolecular Research Vol.19 No.1

Synthesis of highly exfoliated polystyrene/Na^+-montmorillonite (PS/Na^+-MMT) nanocomposites using Na^+-MMT clay platelets as stabilizer during suspension polymerization of styrene monomer is discussed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the presence of a small amount of Na+-MMT during the suspension polymerization of styrene without any suspension stabilizer (PVA) resulted in the formation of spherical PS/Na^+-MMT nanocomposites beads with a wide distribution of sizes. The wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) study revealed near delamination/high degree of swelling of Na^+-MMT clay platelets in water. The exfoliated clay platelets in water media prior to the polymerization of styrene monomer played the role of a stabilizer by preventing the agglomeration of the monomer droplets. Moreover, polymerization of the styrene monomer with organoclay (o-MMT) in the absence of a PVA stabilizer formed clusters of PS/o-MMT nanocomposites. WAXD and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed a high level of delamination with minor intercalation of silicate layers in the PS/Na^+-MMT nanocomposites, whereas intercalated nanocomposites were produced from the styrene/o-MMT polymerization system. The thermal stability of PS was also increased significantly in the PS/Na+-MMT nanocomposite, compared to that of the PS/o-MMT nanocomposites.

      • Variational Bayesian Inference Based Image Inpainting using Gamma Distribution Prior

Rohit Sain,Vikas Mittal,Vrinda Gupta 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.8 No.12

Variational Bayesian (VB) inference is the latest iterative method for prediction of data in machine learning. It provides the solution for intractable integration in Bayesian methodology. In this paper, a simple VB linear regression is applied for prediction of the damaged pixels in an image. Bayesian linear regression model is used for prediction of the pixels. For this neighbor pixels are used as training data to generate the parameters of the prediction function. Now using this prediction function, damaged pixels are predicted and incorporated into the image. Proposed method is linear while image is a non-linear object, generally. Hence, for linearity, a small image window size is used to avoid the nonlinearities in image.

몽골어와 한국어의 단모음 비교 : 실험음성학적 연구

        성비락 국제한국어교육학회 2002 한국어 교육 Vol.13 No.2

Sainbilegt. D. 2002. Experimental Phonetic Comparison Analysis of Mongolian and Korean Vowels. Journal of Korean Language Education 13-2: 111∼130. The main part of this paper is consisted of two parts; one is the chapter of the experiment and the other is the chapter suggesting about the results of this two different language. For This, at first, I intend to compare the acoustic phonetic features of Mongolian vowels pronounced by Mongolian native speakers with those of Korean vowels which using an experimental phonetic method. Secondly, I find the causes of Mongolian learners' phonetic errors based on the comparison of analytic theory. Finally, I would like to correlate the results to the Korean phonetic education. The results of the analysis between Mongolian and Korean Vowels are as follows; At first, there is no difference in phonetic value between Mongolian [I] and Korean [I]; secondly, Korean [오], [우] and Mongolian [u], [u] are pronounced as a close on articulatory positions. Also Korean [어], [어:] prove that a similar positions Mongolian [o], [o] vowels, Finally, Korean [으] appears that it is not pair vowel of Mongolian, but in my opinion, it may be compared with the Mongolian back vowel [i] which is an allophone of front vowel [I]. Abiotic tooth enamel

        Yeom, Bongjun,Sain, Trisha,Lacevic, Naida,Bukharina, Daria,Cha, Sang-Ho,Waas, Anthony M.,Arruda, Ellen M.,Kotov, Nicholas A. Nature Publishing Group 2017 Nature Vol. No.

<P>Tooth enamel comprises parallel microscale and nanoscale ceramic columns or prisms interlaced with a soft protein matrix(1-3). This structural motif is unusually consistent across all species from all geological eras(4-6). Such invariability-especially when juxtaposed with the diversity of other tissues-suggests the existence of a functional basis. Here we performed ex vivo replication of enamel-inspired columnar nanocomposites by sequential growth of zinc oxide nanowire carpets followed by layer-by-layer deposition of a polymeric matrix around these. We show that the mechanical properties of these nanocomposites, including hardness, are comparable to those of enamel despite the nanocomposites having a smaller hard-phase content. Our abiotic enamels have viscoelastic figures of merit (VFOM) and weight-adjusted VFOM that are similar to, or higher than, those of natural tooth enamels-we achieve values that exceed the traditional materials limits of 0.6 and 0.8, respectively. VFOM values describe resistance to vibrational damage, and our columnar composites demonstrate that lightweight materials of unusually high resistance to structural damage from shocks, environmental vibrations and oscillatory stress can be made using biomimetic design. The previously inaccessible combinations of high stiffness, damping and light weight that we achieve in these layer-by-layer composites are attributed to efficient energy dissipation in the interfacial portion of the organic phase. The in vivo contribution of this interfacial portion to macroscale deformations along the tooth's normal is maximized when the architecture is columnar, suggesting an evolutionary advantage of the columnar motif in the enamel of living species. We expect our findings to apply to all columnar composites and to lead to the development of high-performance load-bearing materials.</P>

      • Interpretations of Risk-Sensitivity in Dynamic Optimization of Circuits and Systems

        Won, Chang Hee,Sain, Michael K.,Spencer Jr., B. F. 대한전자공학회 1996 APCCAS:Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits And Sys Vol.1 No.1

Classical dynamical optimization over linear-quadratic-Gaussian circuits and systems can be viewed as a special case of optimization in the risk-sensitive sense. Recently, this risk-sensitive idea has been extensively studied in the literature, especially for the dynamically constrained case. The meaning and the interpretation of risk sensitivity is nevertheless not completely clear in the existing literature. The purpose of this paper is to investigate this most interesting generalization in further detail. A brief background of risk-sensitivity and existing interpretations is given. Then the characteristics of risk-sensitivity are examined, by means of series expansion, entropy, utility functions, and cost distribution functions.

      • A new method of arthroscopic assisted management of stiff knee: a technical note

Hemant Bansal,Hira Lal Nag,Nishank Mehta,Arnab Sain 대한정형외과 스포츠의학회 2018 Arthroscopy and Orthopedic Sports Medicine Vol.5 No.2

Arthrofibrosis of the knee is a commonly encountered entity and often results from prolonged immobilization or delay in postoperative mobilization of knee. Arthroscopic arthrolysis has replaced open arthrolysis as the gold standard in the management of the stiff knee. Several authors have described their techniques and modifications for arthroscopic management of the stiff knee. Rare but devastating complications have also been reported, particularly when forceful manipulation of the knee is done during surgery. We describe a safe method of arthroscopic-assisted management of a stiff knee with our own modifications to avoid catastrophic complications like iatrogenic fracture, tendon rupture or avulsion while simultaneously achieving improved range of flexion.
