Success Factors Affecting Internationalization Process of Large Vietnamese Companies: A Conceptual Framework

Viet Quoc PHAM,Bao Khac Quoc NGUYEN,Thanh Quoc LE 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11

Internationalization of multinational companies in the globalized context is a popular topic in the academic world and it is also a strong concern of CEO/managers. However, this topic has not been well discussed in the academic community in Vietnam that can be contextualized in the typical transition economy. This paper is designed to explore critical success factors (CSF) of internationalization of large Vietnamese companies that have contributed major revenue from the international market. Through interviews with CEO/managers of successful companies geared toward world markets, the CSFs of internationalization have been identified and categorized into groups in which each CSF has interaction with each other, and together have combined impacts on the success of internationalization. The research results provide a conceptual framework to analyze factors affecting internationalization of large Vietnamese companies. Thank to this conceptual framework, further exploratory and/or confirmatory research can be developed to locate more success factors of internationalization. In addition, some particularly critical factors of internationalization success of Vietnamese companies are found to be useful to both CEO/ managers and policymakers. CEO/managers can benefit from the research results by concentrate their limited efforts/resources in managing these CSFs, and policymaker may design CSF-based policies to boost the internationalization of domestic companies.

Nano delivery systems and cancer immunotherapy

        Quoc‑Viet Le,최진주,오유경 한국약제학회 2018 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.48 No.5

Cancer immunotherapy takes advantage of immune system to fight against cancer. Current clinical immunotherapies are based on the administration of immune checkpoint inhibitors or immune modulators to reverse the immune suppression. Although robust and long-term tumor suppression is induced in “certain treated population”, single immunotherapy still suffers from limited efficacy in clinic. Combination with nanomedicine would be one of major strategies that can widen the effective patient populations and reduce side effects. The basis in combining nanomedicine and immunotherapy stems from the close relationship of tumor and immune system. Depending on the therapeutic cargo, nanocarriers can not only facilitate stronger innate or adaptive immunity but also reverse of immunosuppression. In the other hand, nanotechnology can potentiate the efficacy of immunotherapy by enhancing the delivery, retention and narrow the toxicity of immunomodulators. The strategies and rationales of nanocarrier design in the context of cancer immunotherapy are discussed in this review.

Critical Success Factors of Project Management : The Case of Construction Related Projects in Vietnam

Viet Quoc PHAM,Bao Khac Quoc NGUYEN,Binh Van TU,Huong Thi Thanh PHAM,Thanh Quoc LE 한국유통과학회 2019 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.6 No.2

The study aims to contribute to the improvement of project management in Vietnam. It focuses on developing new critical success factors (CSFs) which can be used to assess the success of project management in the country. This is a promising issue considering the rapid changes occurring within the business environment. The reason is because CSFs carry great consequences on project management issues, particularly in the context of Vietnam, which is currently experiencing many big scale projects involving both local and foreign investors. Two applications are utilised. One is to adapt the business model of Belassi and Tukel (1996) to observe the transitional and emerging economy of Vietnam. The other is to examine the data collected from a survey to examine the new CSFs which can then be used to assess the success of its projects and project management in Vietnam. The research results showed some remarkable differences between CSFs of Vietnam and foreign countries in both number of success factors and its impact levels which should be paid attention by foreign project managers/owners when doing investment and project management in Vietnam. The outcome generated can be useful to project owners/managers as well as policy makers in Vietnam’s business environment.

      • <i>In Situ</i> Nanoadjuvant-Assembled Tumor Vaccine for Preventing Long-Term Recurrence

        Le, Quoc-Viet,Suh, Juhan,Choi, Jin Joo,Park, Gyu Thae,Lee, Jung Weon,Shim, Gayong,Oh, Yu-Kyoung American Chemical Society 2019 ACS NANO Vol.13 No.7

<P>Although immune checkpoint inhibitors have emerged as a breakthrough in cancer therapy, a monotherapy approach is not sufficient. Here, we report an immune checkpoint inhibitor-modified nanoparticle for an <I>in situ</I>-assembled tumor vaccine that can activate immune systems in the tumor microenvironment and prevent the long-term recurrence of tumors. Adjuvant-loaded nanoparticles were prepared by entrapping imiquimod (IQ) in photoresponsive polydopamine nanoparticles (IQ/PNs). The surfaces of IQ/PNs were then modified with anti-PDL1 antibody (PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs) for <I>in situ</I> assembly with inactivated tumor cells and immune checkpoint blocking of PDL1 (programmed cell death 1 ligand 1). The presence of anti-PDL1 antibodies on IQ/PNs increased the binding of nanoparticles to CT26 cancer cells overexpressing PDL1. Subsequent near-infrared (NIR) irradiation induced a greater photothermal anticancer effect against cells treated with PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs than cells treated with plain PNs or unmodified IQ/PNs. To mimic the tumor microenvironment, we cocultured bone marrow-derived dendritic cells with CT26 cells treated with various nanoparticle formulations and NIR irradiated. This coculture study revealed that NIR-inactivated, PDL1Ab-IQ/PN-bound CT26 cells induced maturation of dendritic cells to the greatest extent. Following a single intravenous administration of different nanoparticle formulations in CT26 tumor-bearing mice, PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs showed greater tumor tissue accumulation than unmodified nanoparticles. Subsequent NIR irradiation of mice treated with PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs resulted in tumor ablation. In addition to primary tumor ablation, PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs completely prevented the growth of a secondarily challenged CT26 tumor at a distant site, producing 100% survival for up to 150 days. A long-term protection study revealed that treatment with PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs followed by NIR irradiation inhibited the growth of distant, secondarily challenged CT26 tumors 150 days after the first tumor inoculation. Moreover, increased infiltration of T cells was observed in tumor tissues treated with PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs and NIR-irradiated, and T cells isolated from splenocytes of mice in which tumor recurrence was prevented showed active killing of CT26 cells. These results suggest that PDL1Ab-IQ/PNs in conjunction with NIR irradiation induce a potent, <I>in situ</I>-assembled, all-in-one tumor vaccine with adjuvant-containing nanoparticle-bound, inactivated tumor cells. Such <I>in situ</I> nanoadjuvant-assembled tumor vaccines can be further developed for long-term prevention of tumor recurrence without the need for chemotherapy.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin Resistance Syndrome among Infertile Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Cross-Sectional Study from Central Vietnam

Minh Tam Le,Vu Quoc Huy Nguyen,Quang Vinh Truong,Dinh Duong Le,Viet Nguyen Sa Le,Ngoc Thanh Cao 대한내분비학회 2018 Endocrinology and metabolism Vol.33 No.4

Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrinopathies among reproductive-age women. Its metabolic features often overlap with those associated with metabolic syndrome (MS) and insulin resistance syndrome (IRS). Theobjective of this study was to determine the prevalence and predictors of MS and IRS in infertile Vietnamese women with PCOS. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary fertility centre at Hue University Hospital from June 2016 to November 2017. A total of 441 infertile women diagnosed with PCOS based on the revised 2003 Rotterdam consensus criteria were enrolled. MS and IRS were defined based on the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute/American Heart Association Adult Treatment Panel III 2005 and American College of Endocrinology IRS 2003 criteria, respectively. Complete clinical and biochemicalmeasurements of 318 women were available for analysis. Independent predictors of MS and IRS were identified using multivariatelogistic regression. Results: The overall prevalence of MS and IRS in women with PCOS was 10.4% and 27.0%, respectively. We identified older age(>30 years) and obesity as independent predictors of MS and IRS. Elevated anti-Müllerian hormone levels increased the risk of IRS,but not that of MS. Conclusion: MS and IRS are prevalent disorders among infertile Vietnamese women with PCOS. PCOS is not solely a reproductiveproblem. Screening and early intervention for MS and/or IRS based on anthropometric, metabolic, and reproductive hormone riskfactors should be an integral part of fertility care.

      • Coaxial Fiber Supercapacitor Using All-Carbon Material Electrodes

        Le, Viet Thong,Kim, Heetae,Ghosh, Arunabha,Kim, Jaesu,Chang, Jian,Vu, Quoc An,Pham, Duy Tho,Lee, Ju-Hyuck,Kim, Sang-Woo,Lee, Young Hee American Chemical Society 2013 ACS NANO Vol.7 No.7

<P>We report a coaxial fiber supercapacitor, which consists of carbon microfiber bundles coated with multiwalled carbon nanotubes as a core electrode and carbon nanofiber paper as an outer electrode. The ratio of electrode volumes was determined by a half-cell test of each electrode. The capacitance reached 6.3 mF cm–1 (86.8 mF cm–2) at a core electrode diameter of 230 μm and the measured energy density was 0.7 μWh cm–1 (9.8 μWh cm–2) at a power density of 13.7 μW cm–1 (189.4 μW cm–2), which were much higher than the previous reports. The change in the cyclic voltammetry characteristics was negligible at 180° bending, with excellent cycling performance. The high capacitance, high energy density, and power density of the coaxial fiber supercapacitor are attributed to not only high effective surface area due to its coaxial structure and bundle of the core electrode, but also all-carbon materials electrodes which have high conductivity. Our coaxial fiber supercapacitor can promote the development of textile electronics in near future.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2013/ancac3.2013.7.issue-7/nn4016345/production/images/medium/nn-2013-016345_0008.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn4016345'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Adaptive hierarchical sliding mode control using an artificial neural network for a ballbot system with uncertainties

Hai Le Xuan,Quoc-Dong Hoang,Soon Geul Lee,Dat Pham Xuan,Hoang Tran Viet,Minh Pham Van,Hung Pham Van,Hung Pham Viet,PHAM DUC TUAN,Duc Anh Nguyen 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.2

Ballbots, which have been studied for over ten years, are under-actuated mobile robots that operate using the inverted pendulum paradigm. Controlling a ballbot poses a number of challenges, including maintaining the stable upright posture from the ground in all directions and making sure it follows the desired trajectory. External factors such as a minor change in contact surface properties or fabrication errors can affect the system's stabilization and transfer capabilities. In this study, an adaptive hierarchical sliding mode control algorithm based on an artificial neural network is developed to make the ballbot robust to external factors. The use of the proposed controller ensures system stability despite uncertainties including friction, accidental centrifugal forces and gravity that occur when the ballbot follows the reference trajectory. The system stability is guaranteed on the basis of Lyapunov theory. Control efficiency and robot stability under system uncertainties are demonstrated by numerical simulation.
