A Mild Strategy to Strengthen Three Dimensional Graphene Aerogel for Supporting Sulfur as a Free‐standing Cathode in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

        Yinglin Yan,Haichao Qin,Yiqi Wei,Rong Yang,Yunhua Xu,Liping Chen,Qiaole Li,Mangmang Shi 대한화학회 2018 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.39 No.5

Recently, three dimensional graphene aerogel (3DGA) supported sulfur microparticles was used as a cathode material for lithium?sulfur batteries, which was considered as one of the most promising next generation rechargeable batteries due to its ultra?high theoretical specific capacity (1675 mAh/g). However, the mechanical strength of 3DGA remains an issue for further application. Herein, a strengthened 3DGA (S3DGA) was achieved by soaking in a low concentration ammonia solution at a relative low temperature. Then the S3DGA loaded sulfur (S3DGA?S) was cut into a round piece and directly used as a cathode without additional binders or conductive additives in Li?S batteries. The mechanical strength, microstructure, and electrochemical properties were investigated by compare with a 3DGA prepared without strengthen. The S3DGA?S presented good mechanical strength, excellent capacity retention, and lower electrochemical impedance.

Preparation of Fe2O3 microtubules and the effect of a surfactant on their properties

Qiaoling LI,Cunrui Zhang 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2010 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.11 No.3

Fe2O3 microtubules were synthesised by a sol-gel method using a cotton template. The surfactant was added in the formation process of the sol to change the morphology of the microtubules and improve their properties. The phase, morphology, particle diameter, and magnetic properties of the samples were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and by using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), respectively. The external diameters of Fe2O3 microtubules ranged between 8 μm and 13 μm, and the wall thicknesses ranged between 0.5 μm and 2 μm. The type of calcination method plays a significant role in developing the Fe2O3 phase and the variation in the magnetic properties in the sol-gel template complexing method. γ-Fe2O3 was synthesized by a self-propagation method. However, α-Fe2O3 was synthesized after calcination at 400 oC for 2 h. The effect of different types of surfactant on the magnetic properties of the Fe2O3 microtubules was different. However, the coercivity decreased with the addition of a surfactant.

Investigation of the interstitial oxygen behaviors in vanadium alloy: A first-principles study

        Xingming Zhang,Yifan Li,Qiaoling He,Ruilian Li,Lei Deng,Liang Wang,Xunlin Liu,Jianfeng Tang,Huiqiu Deng,Wang-Yu Hu 한국물리학회 2018 Current Applied Physics Vol.18 No.2

This study aims at characterizing the interstitial Oxygen (O) behaviors in the Vanadium (V) Alloy by means of the first-principles calculations. For this, the interations between vacancy (Vac) and O interstitil atom are studied in detail to obtain the binding energies and stable structures of the complexes. It can be seen that monovacancy binding with two O atoms occupied the opposing octahedral stie are particularly stable, and is liable to form VacO2 cluster in the V alloys. According to the mass action analysis, the predicted temperature dependence of the concentration for VacOn complexes are presented. Apart from monovacancy, we also consider the trapping behavior of vacancy cluster on the O atoms. The results also prove that one vacancy can trap two O atoms in the V alloys. Based the diffusion theory, we obtain the diffusion coefficients as a function of temperature with or without the vacancy effect in the V alloys. The predicted O diffusion coefficients in defect-free V alloys from our first-principles calculations are in excellent ageement with the experimental data, meanings that the vacancy-limited mechanism does not play the key role for O diffusion in V alloys. Regarding the interactions between vacancy, solutes and O atom, combining with the diffusion barriers of O affected by vacancy and solute, we infer the formation mechanism of the precipitates in the V alloys.

Sequential anti-inflammatory and osteogenic effects of a dual drug delivery scaffold loaded with parthenolide and naringin in periodontitis

        Rui Chen,Mengting Wang,Qiaoling Qi,Yanli Tang,Zhenzhao Guo,Shuai Wu,Qiyan Li 대한치주과학회 2023 Journal of Periodontal & Implant Science Vol.53 No.1

Purpose: Our pilot study showed that a 3-dimensional dual drug delivery scaffold (DDDS) loaded with Chinese herbs significantly increased the regenerated bone volume fraction. This study aimed to confirm the synergistic anti-inflammatory and osteogenic preclinical effects of this system. Methods: The targets and pathways of parthenolide and naringin were predicted. Three cell models were used to assess the anti-inflammatory effects of parthenolide and the osteogenic effects of naringin. First, the distance between the cementoenamel junction and alveolar bone crest (CEJ-ABC) and the bone mineral density (BMD) of surgical defects were measured in a rat model of periodontitis with periodontal fenestration defects. Additionally, the mRNA expression levels of matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were measured. Furthermore, the number of inflammatory cells and osteoclasts, as well as the protein expression levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and levels of ALP were determined. Results: Target prediction suggested prostaglandin peroxidase synthase (PTGS2) as a potential target of parthenolide, while cytochrome P450 family 19 subfamily A1 (CYP19A1) and taste 2 receptor member 31 (TAS2R31) were potential targets of naringin. Parthenolide mainly targeted inflammation-related pathways, while naringin participated in steroid hormone synthesis and taste transduction. In vitro experiments revealed significant antiinflammatory effects of parthenolide on RAW264.7 cells, and significant osteogenic effects of naringin on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and MC3T3-E1 cells. DDDS loaded with parthenolide and naringin decreased the CEJ-ABC distance and increased BMD and ALP levels in a time-dependent manner. Inflammation was significantly alleviated after 14 days of DDDS treatment. Additionally, after 56 days, the DDDS group exhibited the highest BMD and ALP levels. Conclusions: DDDS loaded with parthenolide and naringin in a rat model achieved significant synergistic anti-inflammatory and osteogenic effects, providing powerful preclinical evidence.

Activation of PXR inhibits LPS-induced NF-κB activation by increasing IκBα expression in HepG2 cells

        Nanhui Ye,Hang Wang,Qiaoling Li,Chaotong Lin,Huahua Feng,Suying Lin,Jing Hong,Chunn Meng 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2018 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.14 No.1

A limited number of xenobiotic-induced inflammatory episodes occur in the human liver and small intestine under normal physiological conditions, although many xenobiotic agents are metabolized in these organs every day. In this study, we found that rifampicin-activated pregnane X receptor (PXR) plays an important role in the suppression of lipopolysaccharide-activated nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) activity by increasing the expression of the inhibitor of κBα (IκBα) in HepG2 cells. Rifampicin did not increase the expression of IκBα in PXR knockdown HepG2 cells. Furthermore, we found that the activation of PXR could inhibit the lipopolysaccharide-stimulated nuclear translocation of NF-κB p50/p65 using electrophoretic mobility shift assay, immunoprecipitation assays, and microscopy. High levels of IκBα directly interacted with NF-κB and prevented its nuclear translocation, thus inhibiting its binding to consensus DNA sequences in nuclei. Xenobiotic-activated tissue-specific PXR might exert anti-inflammatory actions by antagonizing the xenobiotic-induced transcriptional activity of NFκB in the liver and small intestine. The results also showed that activation of PXR arrested the HepG2 cell cycle in the G0/G1 phase and exhibited cancer prevention potential by inhibiting inflammatory reactions in cells.

A short-type peptidoglycan recognition protein from Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée) exhibits antibacterial activity, and regulates the expression of antimicrobial peptides

        Qiao Peitong,Mei Xianghan,Li Ruixiang,Zhao Qiaoling,Xia Dingguo,Qiu Zhiyong,Shen Dongxu 한국응용곤충학회 2022 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.25 No.4

Peptidoglycan recognition proteins (PGRPs) discriminate and bind peptidoglycans by acting as pattern recog nition receptors (PRRs) in insects, and function pivotal roles in innate immune response. In the present study, we cloned a full-length PGRP gene designed as OfPGRP8 from the Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée). Its mRNA exhibited the highest abundance in fat body, and its expression level upregulated dramatically after bacterial challenges. Purified recombinant OfPGRP8 exhibited intensive binding capacity to peptidoglycans from Staphylococcus aureus and Micrococcus luteus. Additionally, recombinant OfPGRP8 could inhibit the growth of S. aureus, M. luteus. However, recombinant OfPGRP8 could not cause agglutination of S. aureus, M. luteus or Escherichia coli. Furthermore, we also demonstrated that OfPGRP8 may be involved in modulating the signaling pathway of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) synthesis. In sum, our results provided evidence that OfPGRP8 dis criminates peptidoglycans from microbes and acts as a PRR to initiate downstream immune signaling pathways.

Mobility Analysis of a 3-PUU Flexure-based Manipulator based on Screw Theory and Compliance Matrix Method

Shunli Xiao,Yangmin Li,Qiaoling Meng 한국정밀공학회 2013 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

This paper presents the mobility analysis of a 3-PUU flexure-based compliant parallel XYZ pure translational positioning stage. A 3-PUU positioning stage is constructed with a symmetric structure by employing three parallel PUU legs, a moving platform, and a fixed platform. Screw theory and compliance matrix method are utilized to analyze the three pure translational degrees of freedom (DOF) mechanism. The procedure is based on the screw theory deducted analytic equations that incorporate both the instaneous mobility at the initial position and the mobility during the whole working space. The kinematical and the dynamical modeling of this system are built by resorting to compliance characteristics analysis based on compliance matrix method. The analytical results also clarify effectively that the 3-PUU parallel positioning stage is with a pure translational mobility. Independent finite element simulation confirms that the motion of the stage is a pure translational positioning stage.

Fluorescent Sizing Agents Based on Aggregation-Induced Emission Effect for Accurate Evaluation of Permeability and Coating Property

        Enqi Jin,Zhengke Wang,Manli Li,Qiaoling Hu,BEN ZHONG TANG,Jiugang Yuan 한국섬유공학회 2021 Fibers and polymers Vol.22 No.5

Warp sizing is the most important process of weaving preparation in the textile industry. Permeating and coating ofsizing paste into/on warp yarns directly determine the quality of sized yarns. However, there are many significant drawbacks, such as low accuracy and narrow variety adaptability for sizing agents and warp yarns, in the traditional determinationmethod of permeation and coating property of sizing paste. Focusing on the problem, this investigation introducedaggregation-induced emission (AIE) fluorogen to prepare a fluorescent sizing agent. The interface of sizing agent in textilecould be accurately visualized by AIE fluorogen. The three indexes to indicate the permeability and coating property ofsizing paste, i.e. permeation percentage, coating percentage and integrity percentage of sizing film, have been determinedaccurately and conveniently. This investigation efficiently solves the difficult problem of evaluating permeation and coatingproperty of sizing paste and has a significant guiding function on accurate determination of the quality of sized yarns.
