The Effect of Inclusion Level of Soybean Oil and Palm Oil on Their Digestible and Metabolizable Energy Content Determined with the Difference and Regression Method When Fed to Growing Pigs

        Su, Yongbo,She, Yue,Huang, Qiang,Shi, Chuanxin,Li, Zhongchao,Huang, Chengfei,Piao, Xiangshu,Li, Defa Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2015 Animal Bioscience Vol.28 No.12

This experiment was conducted to determine the effects of inclusion level of soybean oil (SO) and palm oil (PO) on their digestible and metabolism energy (DE and ME) contents when fed to growing pigs by difference and regression method. Sixty-six crossbred growing barrows (Duroc${\times}$Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire and weighing $38.1{\pm}2.4kg$) were randomly allotted to a $2{\times}5$ factorial arrangement involving 2 lipid sources (SO and PO), and 5 levels of lipid (2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%) as well as a basal diet composed of corn and soybean meal. The barrows were housed in individual metabolism crates to facilitate separate collection of feces and urine, and were fed the assigned test diets at 4% of initial body weight per day. A 5-d total collection of feces and urine followed a 7-d diet adaptation period. The results showed that the DE and ME contents of SO and PO determined by the difference method were not affected by inclusion level. The DE and ME determined by the regression method for SO were greater compared with the corresponding respective values for PO (DE: 37.07, ME: 36.79 MJ/kg for SO; DE: 34.11, ME: 33.84 MJ/kg for PO, respectively). These values were close to the DE and ME values determined by the difference method at the 10% inclusion level (DE: 37.31, ME: 36.83 MJ/kg for SO; DE: 34.62, ME: 33.47 MJ/kg for PO, respectively). A similar response for the apparent total tract digestibility of acid-hydrolyzed ether extract (AEE) in lipids was observed. The true total tract digestibility of AEE in SO was significantly (p<0.05) greater than that for PO (97.5% and 91.1%, respectively). In conclusion, the DE and ME contents of lipid was not affected by its inclusion level. The difference method can substitute the regression method to determine the DE and ME contents in lipids when the inclusion level is 10%.

Kinetic Evaluation of Products Inhibition to Succinic Acid Producers Escherichia coli NZN111, AFP111, BL21, and Actinobacillus succinogenes 130ZT

        Qiang Li,Dan Wang,Yong Wu,Maohua Yang,Wangliang Li,Jianmin Xing,Zhiguo Su 한국미생물학회 2010 The journal of microbiology Vol.48 No.3

Succinic acid is one of the platform compounds and its production via natural feedstocks has drawn worldwide concerns. To evaluate the inhibitory effects of fermentation products on the growth of Actinobacillus succinogenes 130ZT and Escherichia coli NZN111, AFP111, BL21, fermentations with addition of individual products in medium were carried out. The cell growth was inhibited when the concentrations of formate, acetate, lactate, and succinate were at range of 8.8-17.6 g/L, 10-40 g/L, 9-18 g/L, and 10-80 g/L, respectively. For these two species of bacteria, E. coli was more resistant to acid products than A. succinogenes, while both endured succinate rather than by-products. As a result of end product inhibition, succinate production yield by A. succinogenes decreased from 1.11 to 0.49 g/g glucose. Logistic and Monod mathematical models were presented to simulate the inhibition kinetics. The Logistic model was found more suitable for describing the overall synergistic inhibitory effects.

On time reversal-based signal enhancement for active lamb wave-based damage identification

Qiang Wang,Shenfang Yuan,Ming Hong,Zhongqing Su 국제구조공학회 2015 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.15 No.6

Lamb waves have been a promising candidate for quantitative damage identification for various engineering structures, taking advantage of their superb capabilities of traveling for long distances with fast propagation and low attenuation. However, the application of Lamb waves in damage identification so far has been hampered by the fact that the characteristic signals associated with defects are generally weaker compared with those arising from boundary reflections, mode conversions and environmental noises, making it a tough task to achieve satisfactory damage identification from the time series. With awareness of this challenge, this paper proposes a time reversal-based technique to enhance the strength of damage-scattered signals, which has been previously applied to bulk wave-based damage detection successfully. The investigation includes (i) an analysis of Lamb wave propagation in a plate, generated by PZT patches mounted on the structure; (ii) an introduction of the time reversal theory dedicated for waveform reconstruction with a narrow-band input; (iii) a process of enhancing damage-scattered signals based on time reversal focalization; and (iv) the experimental investigation of the proposed approach to enhance the damage identification on a composite plate. The results have demonstrated that signals scattered by delamination in the composite plate can be enhanced remarkably with the assistance of the proposed process, benefiting from which the damage in the plate is identified with ease and high precision.

Automatic localization of the rotor-stator rubbing fault based on acoustic emission method and higher-order statistics

        Qiang Pan,Rui Zhou,Juying Su,Tian He,Zebang Zhang 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.2

Localization to the rotor-stator rubbing fault of rotating machinery such as aero-engines has been attracting plenty of attentions in fault diagnosis field. Present study attempts to effectively and accurately localize such rubbing sources based on modal AE method automatically. In order to explore the propagation characteristic of rubbing signals, theoretical analysis and finite element simulation on a stator case are conducted. And the dependence of accuracy of time difference of arrival (TDOA) method on the propagation characteristic is investigated. Based on the analysis result, a higher-order statistics (HOS) algorithm is introduced into acoustic emission (AE) to automatically identify the arrival time of rubbing signals and localize the rubbing source via automatic threshold selection. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed AE method to recognize the rubbing fault, a series of rubbing tests are carried out. It is demonstrated by the experimental results that the accuracy of the proposed method is improved compared with conventional TDOA methods since more than half of the sources localized at the rubbing region can be identified in almost all cases and the identification accuracy is up to 80 % at threshold of 85 % of amplitude.

An Effective Method for Extraction of Glutaryl-7-aminocephalosporanic Acid Acylase from Recombinant E. coli Cells

        Xiao-qiang Ma,Er-zheng Su,Sen-wen Deng,Dong-zhi Wei 한국생물공학회 2015 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.20 No.4

In this study, several chemical treatment techniques commonly used for protein extraction were investigated for recovering glutaryl-7-aminocephalosporanic acid acylase (GLA) from recombinant E. coli cells. The best results were obtained by the combined use of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and KCl. Subsequently, various extraction conditions, such as cation salt, concentrations of CTAB and KCl, extraction temperature, extraction time, and biomass, were optimized to further enhance the release yield and specific activity of GLA. Our results showed that 110% of GLA was released after treatment with 0.5% CTAB (w/v, %) and 0.3 M KCl at 10°C for 12 h, and its specific activity in this extracting solution was approximately 1.5 times higher as compared to that obtained by sonication. This extraction method could avoid the inactivation of GLA caused by drastic mechanical methods, and also enhance its specific activity for industrial extraction.

A Hybrid Static Compensator for Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation and Harmonic Suppression

        Jia-Qiang Yang,Lei Yang,Zi-peng Su 전력전자학회 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.3

This paper presents a combined system of a small-capacity inverter and multigroup delta-connected thyristor switched capacitors (TSCs). The system is referred to as a hybrid static compensator (HSC) and has the functions of dynamic reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression. In the proposed topology, the load reactive power is mainly compensated by the TSCs. Meanwhile the inverter is meant to cooperate with TSCs to achieve continuous reactive power compensation, and to filter the harmonics generated by nonlinear loads and the TSCs. First, the structure and mathematical model of the HSC are discussed Then the control method of the HSC is presented. An improved reduced order generalized integrator (ROGI)-based selective current control method is adopted in the inverter to achieve high-performance reactive and harmonic current compensation. Meanwhile, a switch control strategy is proposed to implement precise and fast switching of the TSCs and to avoid changing the time delay needed by the conventional switch strategy. Experiments are implemented on a 20 KVA HSC prototype and the obtained results verify the validity of the proposed HSC system.

Preconditioning of canine adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells with deferoxamine potentiates anti-inflammatory effects by directing/reprogramming M2 macrophage polarization

        Park, Su-Min,Li, Qiang,Ryu, Min-Ok,Nam, Aryung,An, Ju-Hyun,Yang, Ji-In,Kim, Sang-Min,Song, Woo-Jin,Youn, Hwa-Young Elsevier 2020 Veterinary immunology and immunopathology Vol. No.

Abstract

Preconditioning with hypoxia or hypoxia-mimetic agents has been tried with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to improve the secretion of anti-inflammatory factors. These preconditioning procedures upregulate hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) 1-alpha leading to the transcription of HIF-dependent tissue protective and anti-inflammatory genes. Due to the limited number of studies exploring the activity of deferoxamine (DFO)—a hypoxia-mimetic agent—in MSCs, we aimed to determine whether DFO can enhance the secretion of anti-inflammatory substances in canine adipose tissue-derived (cAT)-MSCs. Furthermore, we investigated whether this activity of DFO could affect macrophage polarization and activate anti-inflammatory reactions. cAT-MSCs preconditioned with DFO exhibited enhanced secretion of anti-inflammatory factors such as prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor-α-stimulated gene-6. To evaluate the interaction between DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs and macrophages, RAW 264.7 cells were co-cultured with cAT-MSCs using the Transwell system, and changes in the expression of factors related to macrophage polarization were analyzed using the quantitative real-time PCR and western blot assays. When RAW 264.7 cells were co-cultured with DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs, the expression of M1 and M2 markers decreased and increased, respectively, compared to co-culturing with non-preconditioned cAT-MSCs. Thus, cAT-MSCs preconditioned with DFO can more effectively direct and reprogram macrophage polarization into the M2 phase, an anti-inflammatory state.

Highlights

Deferoxamine enhances the secretion of anti-inflammatory substances in cAT-MSCs.

DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs exhibit enhanced prostaglandin E2 and TSG-6 secretion.

DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs reprogram macrophage polarization into the M2 phase.

Preconditioning of cAT-MSCs with DFO may be applicable clinically.

Behavior and simplified analysis of steel-concrete composite beams subjected to localized blast loading

        Guo-Qiang Li,Su-Wen Chen,Tao-Chun Yang 국제구조공학회 2009 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.32 No.2

Finite element simulations are increasingly used in structural analysis and design, especially in cases where complex structural and loading conditions are involved. Due to considerable progresses in computer technology as well as nonlinear finite-element analysis techniques in past years, it has become possible to pursue an accurate analysis of the complex blast-induced structural effects by means of numerical simulations. This paper aims to develop a better understanding of the behavior of steel-concrete composite beams (SCCB) under localized blast loading through a numerical parametric study. A finite element model is set up to simulate the blast-resistant features of SCCB using the transient dynamic analysis software LS-DYNA. It is demonstrated that there are three dominant failure modes for SCCB subjected to localized blast loading. The effect of loading position on the behavior of SCCB is also investigated. Finally, a simplified model is proposed for assessing the overall response of SCCB subjected to localized blast loading.
