GLOBAL CONVERGENCE OF A MODIFIED BFGS-TYPE METHOD FOR UNCONSTRAINED NON-CONVEX MINIMIZATION
Guo, Qiang,Liu, Jian-Guo 한국전산응용수학회 2007 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.24 No.1
To the unconstrained programme of non-convex function, this article give a modified BFGS algorithm associated with the general line search model. The idea of the algorithm is to modify the approximate Hessian matrix for obtaining the descent direction and guaranteeing the efficacious of the new quasi-Newton iteration equation $B_{k+1}s_k=y^*_k,\;where\;y^*_k$ is the sum of $y_k\;and\;A_ks_k,\;and\;A_k$ is some matrix. The global convergence properties of the algorithm associating with the general form of line search is proved.
A MODIFIED BFGS BUNDLE ALGORITHM BASED ON APPROXIMATE SUBGRADIENTS
Guo, Qiang,Liu, Jian-Guo The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.5
In this paper, an implementable BFGS bundle algorithm for solving a nonsmooth convex optimization problem is presented. The typical method minimizes an approximate Moreau-Yosida regularization using a BFGS algorithm with inexact function and the approximate gradient values which are generated by a finite inner bundle algorithm. The approximate subgradient of the objective function is used in the algorithm, which can make the algorithm easier to implement. The convergence property of the algorithm is proved under some additional assumptions.

GLOBAL CONVERGENCE PROPERTIES OF THE MODIFIED BFGS METHOD ASSOCIATING WITH GENERAL LINE SEARCH MODEL
Liu, Jian-Guo,Guo, Qiang 한국전산응용수학회 2004 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.16 No.1
To the unconstrained programme of non-convex function, this article give a modified BFGS algorithm. The idea of the algorithm is to modify the approximate Hessian matrix for obtaining the descent direction and guaranteeing the efficacious of the quasi-Newton iteration pattern. We prove the global convergence properties of the algorithm associating with the general form of line search, and prove the quadratic convergence rate of the algorithm under some conditions.
GLOBAL CONVERGENCE PROPERTIES OF TWO MODIFIED BFGS-TYPE METHODS
Guo, Qiang,Liu, Jian-Guo 한국전산응용수학회 2007 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.23 No.1
This article studies a modified BFGS algorithm for solving smooth unconstrained strongly convex minimization problem. The modified BFGS method is based on the new quasi-Newton equation $B_k+1{^s}_k=yk\;where\;y_k^*=yk+A_ks_k\;and\;A_k$ is a matrix. Wei, Li and Qi [WLQ] have proven that the average performance of two of those algorithms is better than that of the classical one. In this paper, we prove the global convergence of these algorithms associated to a general line search rule.

The zirconia, alumina, and zirconia-alumina (xZr-Al) supported PtSnIn catalysts were prepared andcomparatively studied for propane dehydrogenation reaction. The structure–function relationships ofthe resultant catalysts are well elucidated upon several state-of-art physico-chemical characterizations. The results show that xZr-Al used as support for trimetallic PtSnIn catalysts exhibits the significantcatalytic performances. The PtSnIn/08Zr-Al catalyst has the highest Pt dispersion accompanied with thesmallest average Pt particles, and it presents the initial propane conversion and propylene selectivityabove 55.0% and 98.0% respectively. The initial propane conversions afterfive reaction–regenerationcycles are all above 55.0% and only decrease little ( 3%).
Study of Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of Spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.2Ti0.3O4 by Different Methods
Guo-Qiang Liu 대한금속·재료학회 2010 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.16 No.5
Two spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.2Ti0.3O4 samples were successfully synthesized by the sol–gel method using chemicals LiAc·2H2O, Mn(Ac)2·2H2O, Ni(Ac)2·4H2O and Ti(OCH3)4 as reactants. When reactants are calcined in air,a sample of LiNi0.5Mn1.2Ti0.3O4 (1), which contains Mn 3+and Mn 4+ions, is obtained. The sample of LiNi0.5Mn1.2Ti0.3O4 (2), which contains only Mn 4+ions, is obtained when reactants are calcined in an oxygen atmosphere. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), galvanostatic charge-discharge test and cyclic voltammogram test were employed to investigate the two samples. XRD results show that there is a small shift towards a larger diffraction angle for peaks of the LiNi0.5Mn1.2Ti0.3O4 (2) sample. SEM indicates that the two samples exhibit polyhedral shapes. The cyclic voltammogram test demonstrates that reduction-oxidation reactions take place at different voltages for the two samples. The prepared sample of LiNi0.5Mn1.2Ti0.3O4with Mn 3+ions exhibits excellent cycle performance at different current rates. Its discharge capacity is 133.9mAh/g at 0.1C.

Objective: To investigate whether the expression of serum soluble neural cell adhesion molecule (sNCAM) is associated with hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in hepatocelular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Materials and Methods: The Oncomine Cancer Microarray database was used to determine the clinical relevance of NCAM expression in different kinds of human cancers. Sera from 75 HCC cases enrolled in this study were assessed for expression of sNCAM by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Dependent on the Oncomine Cancer Microarray database analysis, NCAM was down regulated in 10 different kinds of cancer, like bladder cancer, brain and central nervous system cancer, while up-regulated in lung cancer, uterine corpus leiomyoma and sarcoma, compared to normal groups. Puzzlingly, NCAM expression demonstrated no significant difference between normal and HCC groups. However, we found by quantitative ELISA that the level of sNCAM in sera from HCC patients with HE ($347.4{\pm}151.9ng/ml$) was significantly more up-regulated than that in HCC patients without HE ($260.3{\pm}104.2ng/ml$), the p-value being 0.008. sNCAM may be an important risk factor of HE in HCC patients, the correlation coefficients was 0.278 (P<0.05) on rank correlation analysis. Conclusions: This study highlights that up-regulated level of serum sNCAM is associated with HE in HCC patients and suggests that the high expression can be used as an indicator.
