        Anti-infective Knitted Surgical Mesh for Stress Urinary Incontinence Applications: Synthesis, Characterization, and Investigation of Its In Vitro Biocompatibility

        Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is an important problem that results in urinary incontinence when the urethra fails to function properly and is very common, especially in women. Mid-urethral sling (MUS) surgery is recognized as an effective and FDA-approved surgical treatment. In the MUS technique, a porous mesh sling based on polypropylene (PP), a non-absorbable synthetic polymer, is usually used. However, mesh-induced infections after MUS significantly threaten patient comfort and health. The aim of this study was to synthesize biocompatible MUS mesh with antimicrobial properties for the treatment of SUI. For this purpose, medical grade knitted PP mesh was coated with different levels of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in low pressure plasma environment. The synthesized AgNPs coated PP (AgNPS-c-PP) meshes were characterized by SEM, EDS, XRF, FTIR, XRD, DSC and TGA. In addition, the antimicrobial activity as well as in vitro biocompatibility of AgNPs-c-PP meshes were investigated by cytotoxicity and hemolysis tests. The characterization results confirmed that the PP mesh was coated with AgNPs. Antibacterial studies revealed that PP meshes coated with 1.0 mM, 5.0 mM and 10.0 mM AgNO3 solutions were effective against S. aureus and E. coli species. MTT cytotoxicity assay confirmed that AgNPs-c-PP meshes at 1.0 mM and 5.0 mM were non-toxic at the highest concentration applied on L929 fibroblast cells. The hemolytic index of all synthesized AgNPs-c-PP meshes was determined to be between 0 and 2. Thus, AgNPs-c-PP meshes synthesized by the method in this study show great promise as an effective antibacterial and biocompatible material in various surgical applications including MUS.

        This study is aimed to make a proposal for the improved curriculum of the home econ-omics education of Korean high school, based on the contrastive study on educational objective and contents, general course objective and contents, specific course objectives and contents, specific couse organization and time allotment in Korean and Japanese high schools. The general and specific course organization in each country has its own characteristics. Korea has both required and elective subjects, but with less number of units, and the organization of the course is more general and extensive, while Japan has only required courses with more number of units and less number of subjects. What is significant in Japanese case is its course organization which presents more realistic and concrete materials. And this fact suggests us to consider the possibility to select more concrete materials and make systematic organization, aimed at reducing the volume to be taught by integrating similar subjects, but improving the quality of the education toward the educational objective of teaching students with more specialized skills and techniques.

      • 아파트에 關한 意識과 時間管理에 關한 硏究 : 全州市內 아파트에 居周하는 主婦들을 대상으로

        The purpose of this study is to investigate opinions about apartment and time spent on household tasks of homemakers living in apartment.For this purpose, the writer studied a total of 300 families living in 8 apartment in Jeonju, Jeonrabugdo, selected at random, and adapted carefully 280 samples for the subject of this study. 1.By and large, they satisfied wish living in their apartment and the motives of it is convinience. 2.42.5% of the respondents, about a half of the total, wanted to keep on living in apartment, and about 50% of them regarded the reasonable area for 5 families as 21~30 prongs and appropriate period to live in the same apartment as 5 years 3.Three variables were found to be most correlated with their homemaking hours and leasure time: the number of children (the more children, the greater time spent on household work), the employment of the homemakers (if she is a wage-earner, fewer hours go into work at home), the age of the youngest child (the younger the child, the more work for the family).But income of the family had no relation with time spent on household tasks. 4.This data show that the average amount of time spent on household work is 7.6 hours, leasure time 6.8, sleeping hours 7.2 per a day. 5.The average amount of time spent on house-care ranged for 1.3 hours (in case of less than 15 pyong)to 1.9 hoers (in case of 31 pyong)daily and there were 30 minutes gap between them.

        이순석(李順石)의 공예와 디자인교육에 관한 연구

        Lee, Soon-Suk was a founder of the education of modern craft in Korea. He studied `Doan' at the Tokyo Art College in Japan since 1926. He as the first professor since 1946, established a curriculum and system of a department of `Doan' of Seoul National University. Further, he connected the education of `Doan' of Japan, which succeeded to the trend of the art and craft movement and the decorative art such as `art nouveau' in the western countries, to the education of `Doan' in university of Korea. In 1950', when he started the education of applied art, craft and design were not divided. And the education of applied art had a two dimensional and pictorial form with an artistic inclination. The object of the education of Lee, Sun-Suk was to connect the beauty of traditional craft with new ideas and senses. The content of his education was based on the mode picture, which omits and simplifies traditional materials or natural objects, landscapes. Since 1960', the concepts of craft and design were divided and known to Korean society and Lee, Sun-Suk too received the contemporary trend from a tour of inspection abroad. Therefore, the education of craft art was deviated from the influence of Japan and began to change centering around America. The government began to understand the importance of design and in connection with it, Lee, Sun-Suk founded Korean Design Center and opened Commerce and Industry Art Exhibition. Lee, Sun-Suk developed modern education of the craft and found the importance of the tradition and made every effort to connect it to new idea.

      • 초등학교 식물교육에 대한 효율적인 방안연구

        The base data for making the school garden of elementary school, we analyse them through the actual conditions of plant with indicated within the whole text of elementary school(146 books), the actual conditions of planting of Pusan-city 32 elementary schools selected by the Education Office and spool paper. The results obtained are as follows ; 1. Plant Actual Conditions Indicated within Text 1) The total of plant shown in the whole grade of elementary school (146 books) was 231 species, that is to say, 49 species in herbaceous plants, 59 species in woody plant, 31 species in vegetables, 17species in grains, 15 species in fruit, 7 species in medicinal plant, 6 species industrial crop, 26 species in wild plants, 18 species in aquatic plants, and the other were 3 species respectively. 2) The number of species of plant shown on the grade was in 4th grade(137 species, 6th grade(136 species), 5th grads(117 species), 3th grade (88 species), 1th grade(72 species) and 2th grade(68 species). The number of species shown on each textbook was 120 species in subject of speaking, hearing, reading, writing, and 116 species in the guide of practial exercise 2. Acture Conditions of planting of 32 elementary schools 1) The species of plant set 32 schools are 331 species, and the average number of plant per school is 64 species. The most number of school is 152 species in school No. of 9 and the least number of school was 14 species in school No. of 4. The species of plant related to the text per school, was 33 species in average. 2) 231 species in the textbook, the native plant is 38 species, and the native plant in the school garden showed 22 species in average. 3) Quantity of total plant is average 1488 treess in "A" grade, 1951 trees in "B" grade, 1087 trees in "C" grade and 1607 treess in "D" grade, and therefore the plant is set in other of "D" grade, "B" grade, "A" glade, and "C" grade. 4) The average number of plant showed 90 species in "A" grade, 62 species in "B" grade, 59 species in "C" grade, "D" grade, and 90 species In "A" grade the average number of species of plant concerned to the text book is 46 species in "A" grade, 33 species "B" grade, 31 species in "C" grade and 24 species in "D" grade, and of number of species of plant set in the school, the species of native plant is 28 species in "A" grade, 21 species in "B" grade, 20 species in "C" grade, and 17 species in "D" grade, and then 90 species in "A" grade of species of plant concerned to the text, the species of native plant is 13 species in "A" grade, 11 species in "B" grade, 12 species in "C" glade and 10 species "D" grade. Therefore, it can be known and found that the central schoo1 ("A"grade) has performed the control and management of school garden well.

      • 독일 근대 건축에 나타난 사회주의적인 성격

        The german architects held an anarchical and utopian socialistic ideology from the first World War to the 1930's when the culture was controlled by the National Socialist. The architecture at that time was influenced by the trend of Avant-Gard under the slogan of the combination of art and industry. The politically and economically suffering circumstances caused by the first World War brought about the appearance of the unrealistic and illusional expressionism- architectures. The expressionism-architectures tried to express the noble spirits of the human and took geometrical dorms or organic sculpture forms in which the dynamical features of the futurism were shown. The economically recovered situation in 1924's made it possible to build the housing complex on a large scale and accordingly the distinctive and simple forms of new architectures appeared. The new architecture were standardized by the development of the geometrical form of the art trend abd Bauhaus and they were designs which enabled the massive production through the combination of the design and the techniques. The economical and rational new architecture disregarded the personal speciality and individuality and implied the socialistic ideology suggesting the society of horizontal class. The german architectural form reflected the political and economical situations at that time and the ideal socialist ideology as well as the art trend of Avant-garde which the architects held.

      • Pope의 풍자론 : An Epistle to Dr. Arbuthnot

        AbstractPope tried to teach the right use of wealth by his satire, Epistle to Burlington. But the English people blamed Pope as the malicious satirist who slandered his friend, Duke of Chandos according to the intentions of Pope's enemies. Here Pope reconizes the problem of general satire and decides to write personal satire. This essay is designed to examine this change in Pope's satiric theory.An Epislte to Dr. arbuthnot is read as more than apologia pro satura sua. It deals with what kind of satire ought to be written. Arbuthnot urges Pope to write general satire for fear of his friend's safety. But Pope defends personal against general satire favoured by critical orothodoxy of the age, because he believes that personal satire can reform people effectively with more chastisement. Pope is convinced that the task of satire could only be achieved by an identification of the villains.Here we can see Pope's satiric theory is changed from comic satire to punitive satire. In his early satire, The Rape of the Lock, Pope puts emphasis on the comic spirit; in the 1730s he regards the essence of satire as attack and comes to believe that satire should inflict openly the pain of punishment. Pope intends this kind of quasi-judicial punishment in the pain and public exposure of the Sporus portrait.After declaring to write aggressive satire, Pope moves on to the political satire which strives to topple Walpole's government.
