A bZIP transcription factor, LrbZIP1, is involved in Lilium regale Wilson defense responses against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lilii

        Nannan Zhang,Diqiu Liu,Wei Zheng,Hua He,Bo Ji,Qing Han,Feng Ge,Chaoyin Chen 한국유전학회 2014 Genes & Genomics Vol.36 No.6

The basic leucine zipper (bZIP) proteins areubiquitous in plants and play important roles in plantdefense responses. In this study, based on an expressedsequence tag from a suppression subtractive hybridizationcDNA library of Lilium regale Wilson during Fusariumoxysporum f. sp. lilii infection, a novel bZIP transcriptionfactor gene LrbZIP1 was isolated from L. regale root usingthe rapid amplification of cDNA ends method. The predictedprotein of LrbZIP1 with 142 amino acid residuescontains a basic domain signature and a leucine zippermotif. The quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (qRTPCR)analysis showed that the transcription level of Lrb-ZIP1 was higher in roots of L. regale than in young stemsand leaves. Moreover, the expression of LrbZIP1 was upregulatedin the incompatible interaction between L. regaleand F. oxysporum f. sp. lilii as well as after treatments withstress-related signaling molecules. To verify the function ofLrbZIP1, a constitutive expression vector of LrbZIP1 wasconstructed and transferred into tobacco (Nicotiana tabacumL. cv Xanthi). The results of Southern blotting andqRT-PCR analyses demonstrated that the LrbZIP1 wasintegrated into genome of the tobacco transformants andhighly expressed. Under normal conditions, the T1 transgenictobacco lines showed higher antioxidant enzymeactivities and transcription levels of several resistancerelatedgenes than the wild type. Moreover, the T1 transgenictobacco plants showed strong resistance to F. oxysporumf. sp. lilii infection.

White Matter Microstructural Similarity and Diversity of Functional Constipation and Constipation-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome

( Jiaofen Nan ),( Liangliang Zhang ),( Qiqiang Chen ),( Nannan Zong ),( Peiyong Zhang ),( Xing Ji ),( Shaohui Ma ),( Yuchen Zhang ),( Wei Huang ),( Zhongzhou Du ),( Yongquan Xia ),( Ming Zhang ) 대한소화기기능성질환·운동학회(구 대한소화관운동학회) 2018 Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (JNM Vol.24 No.1

Background/Aims The Rome III criteria separated chronic constipation into functional constipation (FC) and constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C), but some researchers questioned the partitioning and treated both as distinct parts of a continuum. The study aims to explore the similarity and diversity of brain white matter between FC and IBS-C. Methods The voxel-wise analysis of the diffusion parameters was used to quantify the white matter changes of female brains in 18 FC patients and 20 IBS-C patients compared with a comparison group with 19 healthy controls by tract-based spatial statistics. The correlations between diffusive parameters and clinical symptoms were evaluated using a Pearson’s correlation. Results In comparison to healthy controls, FC patients showed a decrease of fractional anisotropy (FA) and an increase of radial diffusivity (RD) in multiple major fibers encompassing the corpus callosum (CC, P = 0.001 at peak), external capsule (P = 0.002 at peak), corona radiata (CR, P = 0.001 at peak), and superior longitudinal fasciculus (SLF, P = 0.002 at peak). In contrast, IBS-C patients showed FA and RD aberrations in the CC (P = 0.048 at peak). Moreover, the direct comparison between FC and IBS-C showed only RD differences in the CR and SLF. In addition, FA and RD in the CC were significantly associated with abdominal pain for all patients, whereas FA in CR (P = 0.016) and SLF (P = 0.040) were significantly associated with the length of time per attempt and incomplete evacuation separately for FC patients. Conclusion These results may improve our understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying different types of constipation. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2018;24:107-118)

Study of the Electric Field Screening Effect for Field Emitter Arrays

        Nannan Li,Fei Yan,Shucai Pang,Lei Chen,Dazhi Jin,Wei Xiang,De Zhang,Jingyi Dai,Baoqing Zeng 한국물리학회 2015 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.66 No.8

Understanding the influence of the interaction of emitters on the field emission performance of a field emitter array is of great importance for the design of a multi-emitter device. In this work, a screening factor S is defined to quantify the effect of electric field screening due to the interaction of emitters in an array. A three-dimensional finite integration technique is used to study the electric field screening effect for Spindt-type field emitter arrays which have potential applications in flatscreen displays and high-power vacuum electronics. The dependences of the electric field screening on the tip-to-tip spacing, half-angle of the emitter, height of the emitter and radius of the tip’s curvature are analyzed. The effects of the variations in the size of the emitter’s geometry on the most efficient arrangement to achieve maximum emission efficiency in an array are discussed.

Bifurcation analysis of combustion instability in a Rijke burner with an improved third-order saturated flame model

Nannan Dang,Wei Wang,Jiazhong Zhang,Yan Liu 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.8

The bifurcation analysis of nonlinear combustion instability in a Rijke burner is studied numerically. First, a saturated flame model and a third-order saturated flame model are proposed, and the mode truncation effects are investigated by studying their influences on system eigenvalues. Then, bifurcation analysis on the flame location, average flame intensity, damping, and time delay in the flame model is conducted with the new flame models. Results show that the burner driven by the saturated model loses stability via supercritical Hopf bifurcations, whereas the system driven by the third-order saturated model shows the characteristic of subcritical Hopf bifurcations, accompanied by bistable regimes emerging in the bifurcation diagrams. Finally, the effects of velocity perturbations are analyzed further, and the results show that a given system may oscillates with different frequencies if the disturbance is imposed to different Galerkin modes. This study reveals that the process of the combustion system’s transition to instability depends strongly on the nonlinear term in the flame model.

Study of the Effective Field Emitting Angle for an Individual Carbon Nanotube

        Nannan Li,Zhe Wu,Jianlong Liu,Hai Zhang,Jing Guo,Baoqing Zeng 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.6

In this work, the effective field emitting angle θeff is introduced for a carbon nanotube (CNT)to relate the spatial variation of the current density along the tip’s surface to the emission current. The emission current can now be calculated by using I = 2π(1-cosθeff )r2J(0), where J(0) is theemission current density at the apex and r is the radius of curvature of the tips. Analytical resultsshow that θeff depends on the macroscopic field E0, the aspect ratio h/r and the normalized fielddistribution on the tip’s surface E(θ)/E(0). Simulation results show that E(θ)/E(0) converges withincreasing h/r and can be fitted by using a formula when h/r > 500. Finally, a fit function for θeff is obtained for h/r > 500 and E0 in the range of 1 - 25 V/µm.

Facile hydrothermal synthesis of ultrahigh-aspect-ratio V2O5 nanowires for high-performance supercapacitors

        Nannan Wang,Yifu Zhang,Tao Hu,Yunfeng Zhao,Changgong Meng 한국물리학회 2015 Current Applied Physics Vol.15 No.4

Ultrahigh-aspect-ratio V2O5 nanowires were successfully prepared using [VO(O2)2(OH2)]- as the starting material by a template-free hydrothermal route without the addition of organic surfactant or inorganic ions. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD). The results revealed that the peroxovanadium (V) complexes can be easily transformed to V2O5 nanowires by this hydrothermal route. The uniform nanowires were with width about 50 nm and length about dozens of micron. The BET analysis showed the V2O5 nanowires had a high specific surface area of 25.6 m2 g-1. The synthesized V2O5 nanowires performed a high capacitance of 351 F g-1 when used as supercapacitor electrode in 1 mol L-1 LiNO3.

STAR-24K: A Public Dataset for Space Common Target Detection

        Chaoyan Zhang,Baolong Guo,Nannan Liao,Qiuyun Zhong,Hengyan Liu,Cheng Li,Jianglei Gong 한국인터넷정보학회 2022 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.16 No.2

The target detection algorithm based on supervised learning is the current mainstream algorithm for target detection. A high-quality dataset is the prerequisite for the target detection algorithm to obtain good detection performance. The larger the number and quality of the dataset, the stronger the generalization ability of the model, that is, the dataset determines the upper limit of the model learning. The convolutional neural network optimizes the network parameters in a strong supervision method. The error is calculated by comparing the predicted frame with the manually labeled real frame, and then the error is passed into the network for continuous optimization. Strongly supervised learning mainly relies on a large number of images as models for continuous learning, so the number and quality of images directly affect the results of learning. This paper proposes a dataset STAR-24K (meaning a dataset for Space TArget Recognition with more than 24,000 images) for detecting common targets in space. Since there is currently no publicly available dataset for space target detection, we extracted some pictures from a series of channels such as pictures and videos released by the official websites of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and ESA (The European Space Agency) and expanded them to 24,451 pictures. We evaluate popular object detection algorithms to build a benchmark. Our STAR-24K dataset is publicly available at https://github.com/Zzz-zcy/STAR-24K.

Inhibition of mouse SP2/0 myeloma cell growth by the B7-H4 protein vaccine

( Nan Mu ),( Nannan Liu ),( Qiang Hao ),( Yujin Xu ),( Jialin Li ),( Weina Li ),( Shouzhen Wu ),( Cun Zhang ),( Haichuan Su ) 생화학분자생물학회(구 한국생화학분자생물학회) 2014 BMB Reports Vol.47 No.7

B7-H4 is a member of B7 family of co-inhibitory molecules and B7-H4 protein is found to be overexpressed in many human cancers and which is usually associated with poor survival. In this study, we developed a therapeutic vaccine made from a fusion protein composed of a tetanus toxoid (TT) T-helper cell epitope and human B7-H4IgV domain (TT-rhB7-H4IgV). We investigated the anti-tumor effect of the TT-rhB7-H4IgV vaccine in BALB/c mice and SP2/0 myeloma growth was significantly suppressed in mice. The TT-rhB7-H4IgV vaccine induced high-titer specific antibodies in mice. Further, the antibodies induced by TT-rhB7-H4IgV vaccine were capable of depleting SP2/0 cells through complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC) in vitro. On the other hand, the poor cellular immune response was irrelevant to the therapeutic efficacy. These results indicate that the recombinant TT-rhB7-H4IgV vaccine might be a useful candidate of immunotherapy for the treatment of some tumors associated with abnormal expression of B7-H4. Stress-strain model of weak PVC-FRP confined concrete column and strong RC ring beam joint under eccentric compression

        Feng Yu,Nannan Zhang,Yuan Fang,Jie Liu,Guosheng Xiang 국제구조공학회 2020 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.35 No.1

To investigate the stress-strain relation of PVC-FRP Confined Concrete (PFCC) column with RC ring beam joint subjected to eccentric compression, the experiment of 13 joint specimens, which were designed with principle of “strong joint and weak column”, were presented. Several variable parameters, such as reinforcement ratio, width and height of ring beam, FRP strips spacing and eccentricity, were considered. The specimens were eventually damaged by the crushing of concrete, the fracture of PVC tube and several FRP strips. With the FRP strips spacing or eccentricity increased, the ultimate carrying capacity of specimens declined. The strain of FRP strips and axial strain of PVC tube decreased as FRP strips spacing decreased. The decrease of eccentricity would slow down the development of strain of FRP strips and axial strain of PVC tube. The slope of stress-strain curve of PFCC column decreased as FRP strips spacing or eccentricity increased. The ultimate strain of PFCC column reduced as FRP strips spacing increased, while the effect of eccentricity on the ultimate strain of PFCC was not distinct. Considering the influence of eccentricity on the stress-strain relation, a modified stress-strain model for conveniently predicting the weak PFCC column and strong RC ring beam joint under eccentric compression was proposed and it was in good agreement with the experimental data.

Effects of ε-polylysine and rosemary extract on quality attributes and microbial communities in vacuum-packaged large yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) during ice storage

        Weiqing Lan,Yuqing Sun,Nannan Zhang,Jing Xie 한국식품과학회 2021 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.30 No.3

The effects of vacuum package combined with0.1% e-polylysine and 0.2% rosemary extract (V ? RP) onthe quality attributes and microbial communities of largeyellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) during ice storagewere investigated. The quality was evaluated by chemicalcharacteristics (total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N),K-value and biogenic amines (BAs)), microbiologicalindexes (Total viable counts (TVC), Shewanella bacteriacounts, Pseudomonas bacteria counts, Psychrophilic bacteriacounts (PBC)), changes in microbial compositionwere analyzed using high-throughput sequencing. Resultsshowed that the increase of TVB-N, K-value, microorganismsand BAs could be inhibited by V ? RP. Psychrobacterand Pseudomonas were detected in all samples. Shewanella increases rapidly in the middle of storage. Vagococcus and Shewanella were related to the decompositionof ATP, the formation of BAs, and TVB-N,respectively. In conclusion, V ? RP presented the optimaleffects, which could extend the shelf life of large yellowcroaker for another 9 days compared with the control.
