• Bar-Coated Ultrathin Semiconductors from Polymer Blend for One-Step Organic Field-Effect Transistors

        Ge, Feng,Liu, Zhen,Lee, Seon Baek,Wang, Xiaohong,Zhang, Guobing,Lu, Hongbo,Cho, Kilwon,Qiu, Longzhen American Chemical Society 2018 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.10 No.25

One-step deposition of bi-functional semiconductor-dielectric layers for organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) is an effective way to simplify the device fabrication. However, the proposed method has rarely been reported in large-area flexible organic electronics. Herein, we demonstrate wafer-scale OFETs by bar coating the semiconducting and insulating polymer blend solution in one-step. The semiconducting polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) segregates on top of the blend film, whereas dielectric polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acts as the bottom layer, which is achieved by a vertical phase separation structure. The morphology of blend film can be controlled by varying the concentration of P3HT and PMMA solutions. The wafer-scale one-step OFETs, with a continuous ultrathin P3HT film of 2.7 nm, exhibit high electrical reproducibility and uniformity. The one-step OFETs extend to substrate-free arrays that can be attached everywhere on varying substrates. In addition, because of the well-ordered molecular arrangement, the moderate charge transport pathway is formed, which resulted in stable OFETs under various organic solvent vapors and lights of different wavelengths. The results demonstrate that the one-step OFETs have promising potential in the field of large-area organic wearable electronics.
[FIG OMISSION]

      • Integrated Protection Unit Design for Power Networks

        Zhan-feng Fan,Sheng-ming Ge,Z Q Bo,Lin Wang,Feng-quan Zhou,Xing Liu,Guo-bing Song 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.4

This paper presents an hardware design solution for integrated protection of distribution systems (Network Protection Unit) by combining transient polarity comparison technique, which is based on the detection and processing of fault generated transient current signals. The integrated protection relays installed at each substation of a distribution network are communicated with the Network Protection Unit through specially designed Packet Transport Network (PTN) for fast and reliable transmission of transient polarity current signals. The relay detects the faulted generated super-imposed current signals. The transient polarity identification algorithm is then applied to the super-imposed signals to identify the polarity of the signal detected. The Network Protection Unit can collect all the transient polarity current signals under its protection area. Then The direction of a fault is determined by comparison of the polarity of the signals derived from all the line sections connected to the substation. The actual faulted section is identified by the Network Protection Unit through comparing the directional information from various stations. Simulation results presented in the paper demonstrate the feasibility of the scheme.

      • Aphid response to future elevated CO2 environment

        Yucheng Sun,Feng Ge 한국응용곤충학회 2009 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2009 No.10

The performance of herbivores is directly determined by the quality of host plants which changed rapidly with abiotic environment. Elevated CO2-induced nitrogen decreases in plant foliage reduces the growth of chewing herbivorous insects. In contract, although aphids had species-specific response to elevated CO2, it was still considered that aphids’ population have been found to be the only feeding guild to respond positively to elevated CO2. Few studies of elevated CO2 effects on sap-feeding aphids can explain why aphids would make its success under elevated CO2 environment. Plant re-allocates the carbon and nitrogen in tissue under elevated CO2, and in turn alters structure of plant leaves, reduces the amino acid content of phloem sap and increased secondary metabolites of plant. However, it is difficult and unreasonable to predict the general response of aphids to elevated CO2 by using a single plant component. Instead, it is more likely that, in terms of interacting with host plant, aphids are trying to overcome the disadvantages of elevated CO2 and maximum their fitness under elevated CO2 environment. It may provide several cues to explain why individual species will achieve success under future elevated CO2. The present paper reviews recent studies of elevated CO2 effects on aphids and discusses the effects of elevated CO2 on aphid performance on crops using cotton and cereal aphids as examples. Further work examining induced defense of plant against aphids under elevated CO2 will contribute largely to current knowledge.

      • Performance Analysis of Packet Transport Network Communication for Integrated Wide-Area Protection

        Sheng-ming Ge,Z Q Bo,Lin Wang,Zhan-feng Fan,Xing Liu,Feng-quan Zhou 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.3

As a new protection, wide-area protection enables protective relaying, and automatic control based on electric power system network communications and comprehensive judgment of multi-point information, which plays an increasingly important role in the secure and stable operation of electric power system. Interaction of wide-area information relies on communication network featuring high reliability and low time delay. On the other hand, most service of power transformation station is gradually towards IP and data oriented, along with the development of smart grid. This paper aims to introduce the wide-area protection technology supported by Packet Transport Network (PTN) communication technology, with analyzing the QoS (Quality of Service) network assurance architecture of PTN network, which establishes three planes, including transport plane, management plane, and control plane, based on ASON (Automatically Switched Optical Network) technology. After demonstrating the QoS assurance system of PTN from traffic control and transmission route, this paper introduces PTN networking test. Based on detailed parameters in the test results, the transmission performance of PTN on time delay, protection, and time synchronization of various electric power communication services are analyzed, with showing that PTN can fully meet the requirements of electric power communication.

      • AntagomiR-27a Targets FOXO3a in Glioblastoma and Suppresses U87 Cell Growth in Vitro and in Vivo

        Ge, Yun-Fei,Sun, Jun,Jin, Chun-Jie,Cao, Bo-Qiang,Jiang, Zhi-Feng,Shao, Jun-Fei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Objective: To study the effect of the antagomiR-27a inhibitor on glioblastoma cells. Methods: The miR-27a expression level in specimens of human glioblastoma and normal human brain tissues excised during decompression for traumatic brain injury was assessed using qRT-PCR; The predicted target gene of miR-27a was screened out through bioinformatics databases, and the predicted gene was verified using genetic report assays; the effect of antagomiR-27a on the invasion and proliferation of glioma cells was analyzed using MTT assays and 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) labeling. A xenograft glioblastoma model in BALB-c nude mice was established to detect the effect of antagomiR-27a on tumour growth. Results: qRT-PCR results showed that miR-27a significantly increased in specimens from glioblastoma comparing with normal human brain tissues. Th miR-27a inhibitor significantly suppressed invasion and proliferation of glioblastoma cells. FOXO3a was verified as a new target of miR-27a by Western blotting and reporter analyzes. Tumor growth in vivo was suppressed by administration of the miR-27a inhibitor. Conclusion: MiR-27a may be up-regulated in human glioblastoma, and antagomiR-27a could inhibit the proliferation and invasion ability of glioblastoma cells.

      • Saponins from Rubus parvifolius L. Induce Apoptosis in Human Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cells through AMPK Activation and STAT3 Inhibition

Ge, Yu-Qing,Xu, Xiao-Feng,Yang, Bo,Chen, Zhe,Cheng, Ru-Bin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.13

Background: Saponins are a major active component for the traditional Chinese medicine, Rubus parvifolius L., which has shown clear antitumor activities. However, the specific effects and mechanisms of saponins of Rubus parvifolius L. (SRP) remain unclear with regard to human chronic myeloid leukemia cells. The aim of this study was to investigate inhibition of proliferation and apoptosis induction effects of SRP in K562 cells and further elucidate its regulatory mechanisms. Materials and Methods: K562 cells were treated with different concentrations of SRP and MTT assays were performed to determine cell viability. Apoptosis induction by SRP was determined with FACS and DAPI staining analysis. Western blotting was used to detect expression of apoptosis and survival related genes. Specific inhibitors were added to confirm roles of STAT3 and AMPK pathways in SRP induction of apoptosis. Results: Our results indicated that SRP exhibited obvious inhibitory effects on the growth of K562 cells, and significantly induced apoptosis. Cleavage of pro-apoptotic proteins was dramatically increased after SRP exposure. SRP treatment also increased the activities of AMPK and JNK pathways, and inhibited the phosphorylation expression level of STAT3 in K562 cells. Inhibition of the AMPK pathway blocked the activation of JNK by SRP, indicating that SRP regulated the expression of JNK dependent oon the AMPK pathway. Furthermore, inhibition of the latter significantly conferred resistance to SRP pro-apoptotic activity, suggesting involvement of the AMPK pathway in induction of apoptosis. Pretreatment with a STAT3 inhibitor also augmented SRP induced growth inhibition and cell apoptosis, further confirming roles of the STAT3 pathway after SRP treatment. Conclusions: Our results demonstrated that SRP induce cell apoptosis through AMPK activation and STAT3 inhibition in K562 cells. This suggests the possibility of further developing SRP as an alternative treatment option, or perhaps using it as adjuvant chemotherapeutic agent for chronic myeloid leukemia therapy.

Tradeoff between the Output Voltage Deviation and Recovery Time of Boost Converters

Ge, Junjie,Yuan, Liqiang,Zhao, Zhengming,Lu, Ting,He, Fanbo,Feng, Gaohui The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.2

The time-optimal control for boost converters can achieve the minimum recovery time. However, their output voltage deviation is quite large. Since the minimum output voltage deviation and minimum recovery time cannot be obtained at the same time, a novel energy control is proposed to achieve a superior tradeoff between them in this paper. The peak value of the inductor current can be decreased as well. Its control parameter is easy to choose. When compared with the conventional control methods, the proposed control shows a better dynamic performance. Experimental results, which are in agreement with the theoretical analysis, are provided to verify the proposed control method.
