        An unprecedented magnitude of disaster, Tsunami, washed away Southeast Asia, on December 26, 2004. and more than 200,000 peoples were killed by the disaster. Staffs of our hospital visited Indonesia for voluntary medical supports from January 12, to January 21, 2005. We summarize here our 10 days' experiences in Indonesia.

      • P3HT 유기물을 활성층으로 이용한 박막 트랜지스터 제작

        구동회로가 유기물로 구성된다면 단순하고 저렴한 제작공정의 장점으로 인해 두루마리 디스플레이, RFID 카드에 사용될 수 있다. 본 연구는 이를 위해 고분자 유기물인 P3HT(poly-3-hexylthiophene)를 산화막이 성장된 Si 기판위에 스핀코팅하여 활성층으로 사용한 박막 트랜지스터를 제작하고 소자 구조에 따른 특성을 측정하였다. 트랜지스터는 하부 게이트 전극으로 Si 기판을, 몰리브덴 소스와 드레인이 유기물 활성층 하부 또는 그 상부에 위치하는 구조를 채택하였다. 제작된 박막 트랜지스터는 정상전도 p-채널 MOSFET 동작특성을 보이며 V_(GS) = -60 V, V_(DS) = -100 V에서 측정한 드레인 전류는 하부, 상부 접촉 구조에서 각각 I_(DS) = 8 pA/㎛, 4.7 pA/㎛ 이었으며 점멸비 (I_(on/off))는 10^(2)과 10을 나타내었다. 또한, 계산된 전계 효과 이동도는 두 구조에서 동일한 값으로써 약 1×10^(-6) ㎠/V-s 을 보이고 있었다. 상부구조의 장점은 트랜지스터의 특성은 박막의 품질이 향상되고 낮은 접촉저항을 나타내는 금속을 선택함으로써 들어날 것으로 기대된다. If the driving circuits were formed by organic materials, these can be applicable to flexible displays and RFID cards due to the simple fabrication methods and inexpensive costs of production, In this article, we report on the characteristics of organic thin-film transistors using P3HT(poly-3-hexylthiophene) polymer as an active layer material by spin-coating on a Si wafer. The transistor is composed of a Si back-gate, 150 nm thick thermal oxide, and Mo source/drain contacts formed either below (bottom-contact) or above (top-contact) the active channel. Fabricated devices have exhibited the normally-on p-channel MOSFET characteristics with the drain currents of 8 pA/㎛ and 4.7 pA/㎛, and with I_(on/off) ratios of 10^(2) and 10, from bottom- and top-contact structure, respectively, measured at V_(GS) = -60 V and V_(DS) = -100 V. And, the calculated mobility shows about 1×10^(-6) ㎠/V-s same in both structures. We expect that the advantages of top-contact structure could be revealed by employing low contact resistance metal and improvement of the film quality.

      • 放送 送信·中繼所 遠隔制御設備 技術基準 硏究

        본 연구에서는 방송 송신소에 설치되는 원격제어시스템이 갖추어야 할 기술기준을 제시하였다. 기존의 서비스망을 이용하여 통신을 하는 경우에는 단말장치의 기술기준에 따라야 하고, 무선인 경우에는 전파관리에 관한 법규를 따라야 한다. 대부분의 원격제어시스템이 컴퓨터를 사용하고 있으므로 기능이 다양하고 확장이 용이하다. 원격제어시스템 설치에 대한 규제사항을 최소로 하고, 안전조건과 호환성을 갖기 위한 접속조건을 강조하였다. In this paper, we suggest technical standards for remote control systems to be installed in the broadcasting studios. The remote control systems should follow the technical standards for the terminal equipments when communicating with remote terminals through the dedicated lines or PSTN, and follow the law of radio wave management for radio wave communication. Most remote control systems using the computers have versatile functions and are easy to be expanded. Limitations for the remote control system installation are minimized, and both safety and compatibility are stressed in this work.

        신체활동이 게임중독수준에 따른 고등학생의 스트레스호르몬에 미치는 영향

        This study aims to find the effect of game addiction on stress hormone of high schoolers. We classified juniors (2nd grade) of H highschool in W city according to the level of game addiction into the groups of general users (12 persons), potential risk (12 persons), and high risk (12 Persons). We made them exercise three times in a week - for 12 weeks with 50 - 60% of intensity, and analyzed cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine which are stress hormones. Regarding the levels of game addiction, we made a teenagers" internet game addiction index checklist by Korea Agency of Digital Opportunity and Promotion (2010). The subjects kept their stomachs empty while having their bloods taken before and after the exercise. Based on collected data, was technical statistics were calculated through a SPSS(18.0) program. To verify the difference among three groups, paired sample t-tests and one way AVOVA were performed. If a statistic significance were found at a=.05 level, Tukey was performed. As a result, all three groups showed decreased cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine after the twelve weeks of exercise. The result of cortisol was significant at the group of general users, and there were no significant difference among the groups. The change of epinephrine was not significant for all three groups while the change was significant after the exercise. Norepinephrine was significantly decreased for all three groups as well as the result among the groups after the exercise. Therefore, it was found that exercise of 50 - 60% of intensity does not have an effect according to the levels of game addiction, but it has a positive effect on reducing stress hormone. There should be studies on the effect of exercise on teenagers who are addicted to game with many different views through the diversity of forms and period of exercise.

        Efficacy and safety of limited endoscopic sphincterotomy before self-expandable metal stent insertion for malignant biliary obstruction

        <P><B>AIM</B></P><P>To evaluate the safety and efficacy of limited endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) before placement of self-expandable metal stent (SEMS).</P><P><B>METHODS</B></P><P>This was a retrospective analysis of 244 consecutive patients with unresectable malignant biliary obstruction, who underwent placement of SEMSs following limited ES from December 2008 to February 2015. The diagnosis of malignant biliary obstruction and assessment of patient eligibility for the study was established by a combination of clinical findings, laboratory investigations, imaging and pathological results. All patients were monitored in the hospital for at least 24 h following endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography (ERCP). The incidence of immediate or early post-ERCP complications such as post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) and bleeding related to limited ES were considered as primary outcomes. Also, characteristics and complications according to the cancer type were classified.</P><P><B>RESULTS</B></P><P>Among the 244 patients included, the underlying diagnosis was cholangiocarcinoma in 118 patients, pancreatic cancer in 79, and non-pancreatic or non-biliary malignancies in the remaining 47 patients. Early post-ERCP complications occurred in 9 patients (3.7%), with PEP in 7 patients (2.9%; mild, 6; moderate, 1) and mild bleeding in 2 patients (0.8%). There was no significant association between the incidence of post-ERCP complications and the type of malignancy (cholangiocarcinoma <I>vs</I> pancreatic cancer <I>vs</I> others, <I>P</I> = 0.696) or the type of SEMS used (uncovered <I>vs</I> covered, <I>P</I> = 1.000). Patients who had more than one SEMS placed at the first instance were at a significantly higher risk of post-ERCP complications (one SEMS <I>vs</I> two SEMS, <I>P</I> = 0.031). No other factors were predictive of post-ERCP complications.</P><P><B>CONCLUSION</B></P><P>Limited ES is feasible and safe, and effectively facilitates the placement of SEMS, without any significant risk of PEP or severe bleeding.</P>

      • Characteristics of overlooked synchronous gastric epithelial neoplasia after endoscopic submucosal dissection

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Since endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been accepted as the treatment of choice for early gastric cancer (EGC) without risk of lymph node metastasis, synchronous gastric epithelial neoplasia is no longer rare in the clinical practice. Knowledge about the characteristics associated with synchronous gastric epithelial neoplasia is of great importance to prevent delayed diagnosis.</P><P>Between November 2008 and December 2014, a retrospective study was conducted in a single tertiary referral hospital. Consecutive patients who underwent ESD due to EGC or high-grade dysplasia were analyzed to evaluate the incidence of synchronous gastric epithelial neoplasia and the factors associated with synchronous and overlooked synchronous lesions.</P><P>A total of 488 patients were analyzed in this study. Synchronous lesions were found in 59 patients (12.1%) during the mean 37.7 months of follow-up. Among 77 synchronous lesions, 25 lesions (32.4%) were overlooked at the time of initial ESD. Age of ≥ 65 years, moderate to severe endoscopic atrophic gastritis, and elevated morphology of primary lesions were associated with synchronous gastric epithelial neoplasia. An important factor associated with overlooked lesions is the non-elevated morphology of lesions.</P><P>Careful endoscopic examination of the whole stomach is necessary in patients who are older and who have moderate to severe atrophic gastritis and elevated morphology of lesions to prevent delayed diagnosis of synchronous gastric epithelial neoplasia, especially non-elevated lesions.</P>

        CONSTRUCTION, ASSEMBLY AND COMMISSIONING OF KSTAR MAIN STRUCTURES

        The KSTAR device succeeded in first plasma generation on 13th June of 2008 through comprehensive system test and commissioning. Among various kinds of the key factors that decisively affected the project, success in the construction and assembly of the major tokamak structure was most important one. Every engineering aspects of each structure were finally confirmed in the integrated commissioning period, and there were no severe troubles and failures prevented the KSTAR device from operating during the commissioning and the first plasma experiments. As a result, all of the experiences and technologies achieved through the KSTAR construction process are expected to be important fundamentals for future construction projects of superconducting fusion devices. This paper summarizes key engineering features of the major structures and of the machine assembly.

        Effects of artemisinin and its derivatives on growth inhibition and apoptosis of oral cancer cells

        <B>Background.</B><P>Artemisinin is of special biological interest because of its outstanding antimalarial activity. Recently, it was reported that artemisinin has antitumor activity. Its derivatives, artesunate, arteether, and artemeter, also have antitumor activity against melanoma, breast, ovarian, prostate, CNS, and renal cancer cell lines. Recently, monomer, dimer, and trimer derivatives were synthesized from deoxoartemisinin, and the dimers and the trimers were found to have much more potent antitumor activity than the monomers.</P><B>Methods.</B><P>We evaluated the antitumor activity of artemisinin and its various derivatives (dihydroartemisinin, dihydroartemisinin 12-benzoate, 12-(2′-hydroxyethyl) deoxoartemisinin, 12-(2′-ethylthio) deoxoartemisinin dimer, deoxoartemisinin trimer) in comparison with paclitaxel (Taxol), 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), cisplatin in vitro.</P><B>Results.</B><P>In this study, the deoxoartemisinin trimer had the most potent antitumor effect (IC<SUB>50</SUB> = 6.0 μM), even better than paclitaxel (IC<SUB>50</SUB> = 13.1 μM), on oral cancer cell line (YD-10B). In addition, it induced apoptosis through a caspase-3-dependent mechanism.</P><B>Conclusion.</B><P>The deoxoartemisinin trimer was found to have greater antitumor effect on tumor cells than other commonly used chemotherapeutic drugs, such as 5-FU, cisplatin, and paclitaxel. Furthermore, the ability of artemisinin and its derivatives to induce apoptosis highlights their potential as chemotherapeutic agents, for many anticancer drugs achieve their antitumor effects by inducing apoptosis in tumor cells. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
