There have been a lot of efforts to keep permissible emission standards and to reduce the amount of emitted air pollutants. There are several air pollution control equipments, however, wet scrubber is used to remove particulate matters and gaseous pollutants simultaneously, even if it has low collection efficiency in the particle size less than $5.0{\mu}m$. To overcome this problem, we introduced a spray tower scrubber with an electrospray system which a high voltage was indirectly applied. We found that collection efficiency of fine particles in the electrospray system was improved by increasing electrical field strength and the ratio of liquid-gas flow rate (from 41% to 84% for $0.3{\mu}m$ particles). In addition, a number of small droplets generated from an electrospray system led high collection efficiency, resulting from electrostatic attraction between droplets and particles and higher collision frequency. Therefore, we can conclude that the introduction of an electrospray system is quite effective to increase the particle removal efficiency of a spray tower scrubber.
Electric field assembled anisotropic alumina composite for thermal dissipation applications

<P>A composite material with anisotropic microstructure was fabricated by DC electric field. Alumina was used as filler for thermal conductivity and polysiloxane resin was used as matrix. According to the alumina morphology and loading amount, various anisotropic microstructures were assembled. The thermal properties of the composite material were investigated parallel to the direction of the applied electric field accordingly. For plate-like alumina with 20 vol% loading, a thermal conductivity of 0.44 W/mK was achieved. With spherically shaped alumina, with an equal loading of 20 vol%, a higher thermal conductivity of 0.46 W/mK was achieved. The increase in the thermal conductivity of the fabricated alumina composites with anisotropic microstructure was attributed to increased filler-to-filler connectivity.</P>

This research focused on the isolation and characterization of the new strains which can be used as microbial resources for auxin production in the agriculture industry. For the isolation of the new microorganism in the gut of Larimichthys polyactis, a marine agar medium was used and 3 colonies were isolated. Through the 16S-based ID service, isolated strains were identified as 1 strain of Niallia circulans and 3 strains of Proteus mirabilis. Verifying the agriculture industrial values of these isolated strains, the productivity of auxin and activity of various enzymes such as amylase, lipase, and protease were confirmed. As a result, isolated 3 strains showed auxin activity and only protease activities which means the possibility of applying them to the production of effective microorganisms in the agriculture industry.

전동차의 소비전력(Energy Consumption)은 유지보수 비용 절감 및 온실가스 배출 규제 대응을 위한 중요한 요인으로 본 연구에서는 전동차의 주요 전력 소모 장치인 추진 제어장치의 소비전력에 영향을 미치는 중량, 효율, 주행저항, 구배저항, 곡선저항, 출발저항 및 관성질량 등의 요인을 TPS(모의 주행 시뮬레이션) 및 성능 계산을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 차량의 주요 장치와 서비스 기기에 전원을 공급하는 보조전원장치의 부하 별 소비전력을 분석하였다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 소비전력 영향 요인 및 전력 사용량 예측 방안을 도출하였으며 주요장치의 용량 최적화 자료로 활용하고자 한다. Energy efficiency is a key factor for the EMU trains reasons of cost effectiveness and environmental competition. In this study, affecting factors to energy consumption for EMU trains such as train weight, efficiency, running resistance, gradient resistance, curve resistance, starting resistance and inertia mass are analyzed with TPS(Train Performance Simulation) and performance calculation. And energy consumption of each load for APU(Auxiliary Power Unit) which is fed the power to the major equipment and service equipment is analyzed. Based on the results of this analysis, energy saving strategy and prediction method of energy consumption were derived and it will be applied to the capacity optimization of APU.
체세포 복제란 이식우의 분만 전.후 TGF-${\beta}_1$ 단백질 농도

본 연구는 체세포 복제란 이식우의 분만에 있어서 혈중 스테로이드호르몬, TGF-${\beta}_1$ 농도와 분만지연의 상관 관계를 살펴보고자 실시하였다. 대조군으로는 인공수정(AI)을 통하여 임신한 암소(cow)들을 사용하였다(AI-R). 모든 AI-R들은 자연분만(n=5, 임신 $284{\pm}0.71$일)을 하였다. 분만징후를 보이지 않는 체세포 복제란 이식우(n=5, SCNT-R)들은 분만 예정일보다 10일 정도 지난 임신 292일째에 제왕절개(Caesarean section, C-sec)를 실시하여 분만하였다. 혈액 및 태반 샘플을 분만 전.후에 채취하여 형태 및 중량 등을 측정하였다. 혈장호르몬인 Progesterone(P4)와 Estradiol-$17{\beta}$(E2) 농도는 방사선동위원소 면역 분석 시험(RIA) 방법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 혈장 및 태반분엽의 TGF-${\beta}_1$ 농도는 ELISA 방법으로 측정하였다. SCNT-R에서 회수한 태반의 무게는 AI-R의 것과 비교하여 유의적으로 무거웠다(p<0.05). 분만 직전 SCNT-R들의 혈장 내 P4 농도는 AI-R들의 그것과 비교하여 유의하게 높았다(p<0.01). 하지만 SCNT-R들의 혈장 내 E2 농도는 AI-R과 비교하여 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다(p<0.01). 한편, 분만 전.후 SCNT-R들에서 혈장 또는 태반분엽의 TGF-${\beta}_1$ 단백질 발현 수준은 AI-R들과 비교하여 각각 유의적으로 높은 수준을 유지하였다(p<0.01). 이상의 결과를 종합하여 보면, 분만 시 P4 및 E2의 이상 발현과 높은 수준의 혈장 및 태반 내 TGF-${\beta}_1$ 단백질은 체세포 복제태아의 분만지연을 야기하는 중요한 요인들 중의 하나일 것이라 사료된다. This study was performed to investigate the correlations between steroids and TGF-${\beta}_1$ levels and delayed parturition in SCNT clone calving. The recipients pregnant by AI were used as control (AI-R). All AI-R were labored by natural delivery (n=5, day $284{\pm}0.71$ of pregnancy). The recipients pregnant by SCNT embryo (SCNT-R) showing no signs of delivery about 10 days after expected date were operated by Caesarean section (n=5, day 292). The blood and placentome samples were obtained and weighed at parturition. The concentrations of plasma progesterone (P4) and Estradiol-$17{\beta}$ (E2) were measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA). The levels of plasma and placental TGF-${\beta}_1$ levels were examined by ELISA. The placentomes from SCNT-R were overweight (p<0.05) compared to those of AI-R. The plasma P4 (p<0.01) level in SCNT-R at parturition was significantly higher compared to that of AI-R. In contrast, the plasma E2 level in the SCNT-R was significantly lower compared to that of AI-R (p<0.05). The plasma and placental TGF-${\beta}_1$ protein levels in the SCNT-R were significantly higher than those of AI-R at parturition, respectively (p<0.01). Based on these results, aberrant expressions of steroid hormones and high levels of plasma and placental TGF-${\beta}_1$ protein at parturition may be one of the key indicators on delayed parturition of SCNT clone calving.
