<P>Mo doped Li excess transition metal oxides formulated as 0.3Li[Li<SUB>0.33</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.67</SUB>]O<SUB>2</SUB>·0.7Li[Ni<SUB>0.5-<I>x</I></SUB>Co<SUB>0.2</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.3-<I>x</I></SUB>Mo<SUB>2<I>x</I></SUB>]O<SUB>2</SUB> were synthesized using the co-precipitation process. The effects of the substitution of Ni and Mn with Mo were investigated for the density of the states, the structure, cycling stability, rate performance and thermal stability by tools such as first principle calculations, synchrotron X-ray diffraction, field-emission SEM, solid state <SUP>7</SUP>Li MAS nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), elemental mapping by scanning TEM (STEM), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). It was confirmed that high valence Mo<SUP>6+</SUP> doping of the Li-excess manganese-nickel-cobalt layered oxide in the transition metal enhanced the structural stability and electrochemical performance. Low-dose metronomic chemotherapy has been introduced as a less toxic and effective strategy to inhibit tumor angiogenesis, but its anti-angiogenic mechanism on endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) has not been fully elucidated. Here, we investigated the functional role of regulated in development and DNA damage response 1 (REDD1), an endogenous inhibitor of mTORC1, in low-dose doxorubicin (DOX)-mediated dysregulation of EPC functions. DOX treatment induced REDD1 expression in bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs) and subsequently reduced mTORC1-dependent translation of endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor (Vegfr)-2 mRNA, but not that of the mRNA transcripts for Vegfr-1, epidermal growth factor receptor, and insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor. This selective event was a risk factor for the inhibition of BMMNC differentiation into EPCs and their angiogenic responses to VEGF-A, but was not observed in Redd1-deficient BMMNCs. Low-dose metronomic DOX treatment reduced the mobilization of circulating EPCs in B16 melanoma-bearing wild-type but not Redd1-deficient mice. However, REDD1 overexpression inhibited the differentiation and mobilization of EPCs in both wild-type and Redd1- deficient mice. These data suggest that REDD1 is crucial for metronomic DOX-mediated EPC dysfunction through the translational repression of Vegfr-2 transcript, providing REDD1 as a potential therapeutic target for the inhibition of tumor angiogenesis and tumor progression. Low-dose metronomic chemotherapy (LDMC) inhibits tumor angiogenesis and growth by targeting tumor-associated endothelial cells, but the molecular mechanism has not been fully elucidated. Here, we examined the functional role of regulated in development and DNA damage responses 1 (REDD1), an inhibitor of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), in LDMC-mediated endothelial cell dysfunction. Low-dose doxorubicin (DOX) treatment induced REDD1 expression in cultured vascular and lymphatic endothelial cells and subsequently repressed the mRNA expression of mTORC1-dependent translation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (Vegfr)-2/3, resulting in the inhibition of VEGF-mediated angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. These regulatory effects of DOX-induced REDD1 expression were additionally confirmed by loss- and gain-of-function studies. Furthermore, LDMC with DOX significantly suppressed tumor angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, vascular permeability, growth, and metastasis in B16 melanoma-bearing wild-type but not Redd1-deficient mice. Altogether, our findings indicate that REDD1 is a crucial determinant of LDMC-mediated functional dysregulation of tumor vascular and lymphatic endothelial cells by translational repression of Vegfr-2/3 transcripts, supporting the potential therapeutic properties of REDD1 in highly progressive or metastatic tumors.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a pivotal role in pathologic ocular neovascularization and vascular leakage via activation of VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2). This study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic mechanisms and effects of the tetrapeptide Arg-Leu-Tyr-Glu (RLYE), a VEGFR2 inhibitor, in the development of vascular permeability and choroidal neovascularization (CNV). In cultured human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMECs), treatment with RLYE blocked VEGF-Ainduced phosphorylation of VEGFR2, Akt, ERK, and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), leading to suppression of VEGFA- mediated hyper-production of NO. Treatment with RLYE also inhibited VEGF-A-stimulated angiogenic processes (migration, proliferation, and tube formation) and the hyperpermeability of HRMECs, in addition to attenuating VEGF-A-induced angiogenesis and vascular permeability in mice. The anti-vascular permeability activity of RLYE was correlated with enhanced stability and positioning of the junction proteins VE-cadherin, β-catenin, claudin-5, and ZO-1, critical components of the cortical actin ring structure and retinal endothelial barrier, at the boundary between HRMECs stimulated with VEGF-A. Furthermore, intravitreally injected RLYE bound to retinal microvascular endothelium and inhibited laser-induced CNV in mice. These findings suggest that RLYE has potential as a therapeutic drug for the treatment of CNV by preventing VEGFR2-mediated vascular leakage and angiogenesis.

마그넬리(Magneli)상 티타늄 산화물인 Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB>는 514 K에서 β상에서 λ상으로 변화하며 절연체에서 도체로 변화하는 금속-절연체 전이(metal-insulator transition; MIT)를 보인다. Ti<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>5</SUB>의 MIT는 큰 저항 변화와 높은 열에너지 저장 특성을 동반하는 것으로 알려져있어 높은 응용성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB>의 전기적 혹은 열적 특성을 활용하기 위해선 균일한 시료의 합성과 상전이 온도의 제어가 우선되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 아크 융해로(arc melting furnace)를 이용한 티타늄 환원법으로 Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB>를 합성하였고, 그 구조를 탄소 환원법으로 제조한 Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB>와 비교하였다. 또한, 티타늄 환원법을 이용해 Al이 도핑된 AlxTi₃−xO<SUB>5</SUB>를 합성하고 Al 도핑 비율에 따른 구조, 상전이 온도 및 잠열량을 확인함을 통해 아크 융해법이 Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB>를 합성하고 상전이를 온도를 제어하는데 효과적인 합성법임을 확인하였다. Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB> exhibits a metal-insulator transition (MIT) accompanied by a structural change from β- phase to λ-phase at 514 K. During the transition, Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB> demonstrates significant resistance changes and high thermal energy storage characteristics. To harness the beneficial characteristics of Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB>, it is essential to develop a growth method that yields homogeneous samples and to control the phase transition temperature. In this study, we successfully synthesized high-quality β-Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB> and λ-AlxTi₃−xO5 polycrystalline samples using an arc melting method. Furthermore, the structural and physical properties of β-Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB> and λ-AlxTi₃−xO<SUB>5</SUB> were investigated as a function of the Al doping ratio. Our results suggest that the arc melting method provides an effective way to synthesize high-quality Ti₃O<SUB>5</SUB> and control the transition temperature of the MIT.

In this paper, the method to apply the RFID technology to schools will be presented in order to effectively integrate and manage various assets in school. The proposed system may be seemed to be very useful of individual school to grasp the status of their assets and also the central government to control and manage the assets scattered far and wide around the country. We also propose the OSN/PMS server based on EPC global standard could be appropriate especially in schools. In addition, the proposed system can acquire simultaneously the information from several RFID readers at real time so that it is possible and easy to track the position, the path of moving and the status of assets in the school. To show the usefulness of the proposed system, the prototype of the system has been implemented and conducted. The proposed system seems to be applicable to various fields such as factories. farms. or homes as well as school.
Preparation of large Cu3Sn single crystal by Czochralski method

Cu3Sn was recently predicted to host topological Dirac fermions, but related research is still in its infancy. The growth of large and high-quality Cu3Sn single crystals is, therefore, highly desired to investigate the possible topological properties. In this work, we report the single crystal growth of Cu3Sn by Czochralski (CZ) method. Crystal structure, chemical composition, and transport properties of Cu3Sn single crystals were analyzed to verify the crystal quality. Notably, compared to the mm-sized crystals from a molten Sn fux, the cm-sized crystals obtained by the CZ method are free from contamination from fux materials, paving the way for the follow-up works.

이동방송 환경에서는 이용자의 시청환경이 제한적이어서 자신이 원하는 방송 콘텐츠를 용이하게 소비할 수 없는 경우가 발생한다. 이를 개선하기 위하여 언제 어디서나 시청이 용이한 개인 맞춤형 방송 서비스가 필요하다. 본 논문은 이동방송 환경에서 개인맞춤형방송 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 국내에서 표준화된 지상파 디지털미디어방송 전자콘텐츠안내(ECG) 표준 및 이를 기반으로 한 개인맞춤형방송 전송시스템 및 수신기의 개발에 대하여 기술한다.
