      • Nonlinear vibration of FG-CNTRC curved pipes with temperature-dependent properties

        Mingjie Liu,Shaoping Bi,Sicheng Shao,Hadi Babaei 국제구조공학회 2023 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.46 No.4

In the current research, the nonlinear free vibrations of curved pipes made of functionally graded (FG) carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) materials are investigated. It is assumed that the FG-CNTRC curved pipe is supported on a three-parameter nonlinear elastic foundation and is subjected to a uniform temperature rise. Properties of the curved nanocomposite pipe are distributed across the radius of the pipe and are given by means of a refined rule of mixtures approach. It is also assumed that all thermomechanical properties of the nanocomposite pipe are temperature-dependent. The governing equations of the curved pipe are obtained using a higher order shear deformation theory, where the traction free boundary conditions are satisfied on the top and bottom surfaces of the pipe. The von Kármán type of geometrical non-linearity is included into the formulation to consider the large deflection in the curved nanocomposite pipe. For the case of nanocomposite curved pipes which are simply supported in flexure and axially immovable, the motion equations are solved using the two-step perturbation technique. The closed-form expressions are provided to obtain the small- and large-amplitude frequencies of FGCNTRC curved pipes rested on a nonlinear elastic foundation in thermal environment. Numerical results are given to explore the effects of CNT distribution pattern, the CNT volume fraction, thermal environment, nonlinear foundation stiffness, and geometrical parameters on the fundamental linear and nonlinear frequencies of the curved nanocomposite pipe.

Coffin-Siris syndrome in two chinese patients with novel pathogenic variants of ARID1A and SMARCA4

        Liu Mingjie,Wan Linlin,Wang Chunrong,Yuan Hongyu,Peng Yun,Wan Na,Tang Zhichao,Yuan Xinrong,Chen Daji,Long Zhe,Shi Yuting,Qiu Rong,Tang Beisha,Tang Beisha,Chen Zhao 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.9

Background: Coffin-Siris syndrome (CSS) is a rare congenital syndrome characterized by developmental delay, intellectual disability, microcephaly, coarse face and hypoplastic nail of the fifth digits. Heterozygous variants of different BAF complex-related genes were reported to cause CSS, including ARID1A and SMARCA4. So far, no CSS patients with ARID1A and SMARCA4 variants have been reported in China. Objective: The aim of the current study was to identify the causes of two Chinese patients with congenital growth deficiency and intellectual disability. Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted from the peripheral venous blood of patients and their family members. Genetic analysis included whole-exome and Sanger sequencing. Pathogenicity assessments of variants were performed according to the guideline of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. The phenotypic characteristics of all CSS subtypes were summarized through literature review. Results: We identified two Chinese CSS patients carrying novel variants of ARID1A and SMARCA4 respectively. The cases presented most core symptoms of CSS except for the digits involvement. Additionally, we performed a review of the phenotypic characteristics in CSS, highlighting phenotypic varieties and related potential causes. Conclusions: We reported the first Chinese CSS2 and CSS4 patients with novel variants of ARID1A and SMARCA4. Our study expanded the genetic and phenotypic spectrum of CSS, providing a comprehensive overview of genotype-phenotype correlations of CSS.

Amino acid, fatty acid, and carbohydrate metabolomic profiles with ginsenoside-induced insecticidal efficacy against Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee)

        Liu, Shuangli,Wang, Xiaohui,Zhang, Rui,Song, Mingjie,Zhang, Nanqi,Li, Wanying,Wang, Yingping,Xu, Yonghua,Zhang, Lianxue The Korean Society of Ginseng 2020 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.44 No.4

Background: Previous studies have shown the insecticidal efficacy of ginsenosides. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the metabolic mechanism related to the inhibitory effect of panaxadiol saponins (PDSs) against the Asian corn borer Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee). Methods: Third instar larvae of O. furnacalis were fed normal diets with different concentrations of PDSs for 4 days. The consumption index, relative growth rate, approximate digestibility, and conversion of ingested and digested food were recorded. A targeted gas chromatographye-mass spectrometry assay was performed to detect the profiles of amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates in larvae of O. furnacalis. In addition, the activity of detoxification-related enzymes was determined. Results and Conclusions: PDSs decreased the consumption index, relative growth rate, approximate digestibility, and conversion of ingested and digested food in the 3rd instar larvae of O. furnacalis in a dose-dependent manner. PDSs decreased 15 free amino acids, 16 free fatty acids, and 5 carbohydrates and increased the levels of palmitoleic acid, palmitic acid, and 9-octadecenoic acid in the 3rd instar larvae. The activity of detoxification-related enzymes, such as acetylcholinesterase, glutathione S-transferase, cytochrome P450, carboxylesterase, trehalase, acid phosphatase, and alkaline phosphatase, was reduced in a dose-dependent manner in the 3rd instar larvae exposed to PDSs. These data confirmed the inhibitory effect of PDSs against growth, food utilization, and detoxification in the 3rd instar larvae of O. furnacalis and the potential for using PDSs as an efficient tool for insect pest management for O. furnacalis larvae.

Effects of constant versus fl uctuating red–blue LED radiation on yield and quality of hydroponic purple-leaf lettuce

        Mingjie Shao,Wenke Liu,Lingyan Zha,Chengbo Zhou,Yubin Zhang,Baoshi Li 한국원예학회 2020 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.61 No.6

This study investigated the eff ects of constant light and alternating relatively high-intensity (500 μmol m −2 s −1 ) and lowintensity(150 μmol m −2 s −1 ) red–blue LEDs (4R:1B) on the biomass production and quality of hydroponic purple-leaf lettuce( Lactuca sativa L. cv. ‘Zishan’) in an environmentally controlled plant factory. Four treatments were set up to separate1 h of high light into four diff erent alternating frequencies in a 24-h light−dark cycle (16/8 h): one time (A1), three times(A3), six times (A6), and twelve times (A12). In addition, one constant light treatment with the same daily light integral(DLI, 9.8 mol m −2 per day) as other treatments was set as the control (CK, 170 μmol m −2 s −1 ). The results indicated thatA6 signifi cantly reduced shoot fresh weight and increased the root–shoot ratio of lettuce compared with CK, but there wasno signifi cant diff erence among other treatments. Alternating light treatments did not promote the accumulation of solublesugar, soluble protein, and phenolic substances compared with CK. Meanwhile, A12 signifi cantly promoted the accumulationof total ascorbate (TA) in lettuce leaves compared with other treatments but decreased ascorbate/TA ratio. Above all, underthe same DLI condition, alternating high and low light did not have obvious positive eff ects on biomass production and theaccumulation of nutrient substance in lettuce under constant light was better than that under alternating light. Therefore, compared with the fl uctuating radiation with the same DLI, constant radiation is a better choice for lettuce production.

Analysis of a Novel Double-Stator and Dual-PM Toroidal-Winding Linear Vernier Machine

        Wang Mingjie,Ye Pengxiang,Li Yanyan,Liu Sheng 대한전기학회 2023 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.18 No.4

Aiming at the problem of low thrust density and large thrust ripple of conventional permanent magnet linear machine, this paper proposes a novel structure of double-stator and dual-PM toroidal-winding linear vernier machine (LVM) with high thrust density and low thrust ripple. The novelty of the proposed machine is adopted double-sided topology, toroidal-winding and permanent magnets (PMs) installed both on the stator side and the mover split teeth to improve thrust density. To emphasize the specificity of proposed dual-PM LVM in aspect of electromagnetic performance, three kinds of conventional LVMs with different topologies are compared with proposed machine by analyzing the air-gap flux density, inductance, no-load EMF, thrust, overload capability and power factor of the machines. The average thrust is increased by 11.5% under rated current, and the thrust ripple is decreased from 22.1 to 2.68% by optimizing the key parameters of the proposed structure. The harmonics contribution of EMF and thrust are discussed by semi-analytical method. The results of the semi-analytical method are in good agreement with the finite element method, which verifies the correctness of the semi-analytical method and proves that the proposed machine has good performance characteristics.

Operation Safety Risk Assessment of Water Distribution Networks Based on the Combined Weighting Method (CWM)

        Wei Liu,Wanli Cui,Mingji Chen,Qunfang Hu,Zhaoyang Song 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.5

This study proposes the risk assessment framework of water distribution networks with a focus on the determination of weights of various risk indices. First, the pipe risk list is built, in which pipe failure probability and consequence are considered. By integrating the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the entropy weighting method (EWM), the weights of these indices are obtained by the combined weighting method (CWM), by which both human experience and data distribution can be considered comprehensively. Taking a real WDN in an industrial zone in China as an example, the proposed method is demonstrated in detail and the risks of all pipes are determined. The accuracy of the CWM is validated from the perspective of risk levels of pipes with historical failure records. It is found that the AHP or EWM underestimates or overestimates pipe risks, respectively. Compared to them, the CWM provides reasonable results. In addition, the risks of plastic pipes, newly buried pipes less than five years old, and pipes over twenty years old are much higher.

        A Novel Semi-inserted Dual-stator Low-speed High-torque Permanent Magnet Drive Motor

        Jiwei Liu,Xiaohua Bao,Youyuan Ni,Mingji Zou Korean Magnetics Society 2018 Journal of Magnetics Vol.23 No.4

Low-speed high-torque permanent magnet direct drive machine (LSPMDM) overcomes the shortcomings of traditional drive system, but its volume is large. In this paper, the numerical relationship between the motor external diameter and the rated speed is deduced, and improvement of the torque density is qualitatively analyzed for a dual-stator motor. Owing to that semi-inserted magnetic circuit structure and auxiliary slots under the poles can further increase the torque density of the motor, the effect of the shape, number and position of the auxiliary slots on the salient pole rate is also studied through comparative analysis. By incorporating the merits of dual-stator motor and semi-inserted magnetic circuit structure with the auxiliary slots, a novel motor topology is proposed, which is verified by finite element analysis with good performance.

Autonomous Lane Keeping System: Lane Detection, Tracking and Control on Embedded System

        Chao Jiang,Mingjie Liu,Xutao Deng,Zhen Lei,Changhao Piao 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.1

Autonomous lane keeping system is the key technique to autonomous driving. It includes lane detection, lane tracking and control. It has been developed enormously, but it is still a challenge work due to diff erent factors such as illumination, general hyper-parameters setting for diff erent road condition and lane boundary correction. In addition, due to imbalance on accuracy and processing time, it is hard to conduct in embedding system. In this study, an autonomous lane keeping system is developed based on deep learning. First, a lane detection and tracking system is designed, which is robust to lane boundary correction. Especially for lane detection, a light-weight network named as LaneFCNet is proposed, which can balance accuracy and processing time. Then, lane tracking was followed by detector to improve the detection performance and create autonomous driving trajectory. Finally, to brief lane fi tting problem, it was treated as ridge regression problem, which can enhance the eff ectiveness to the whole system. Experimental results show that our integrated lane detection and tracking system can trade off accuracy and processing time and the whole line keeping system is robust enough to autonomous driving.
