Fuzzy PID Control by Grouping of Membership Functions of Fuzzy Antecedent Variables with Neutrosophic Set Approach and 3-D Position Tracking Control of a Robot Manipulator

Can, Mehmet Serhat,Ozguven, Omerul Faruk The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.2

This paper aims to design of the neutrosophic fuzzy-PID controller and it has been compared with the conventional fuzzy-PID controller for position tracking control in terms of robustness. In the neutrosophic fuzzy-PID controller, error (e) and change of error (ce) were assessed separately on two fuzzy inference systems (FISs). In this study, the designed method is different from the conventional fuzzy logic controller design, membership degrees of antecedent variables were determined by using the T(true), I(indeterminacy), and F(false) membership functions. These membership functions are grouped on the universe of discourse with the neutrosophic set approach. These methods were tested on three-dimensional (3-D) position-tracking control application of a spherical robot manipulator in the MATLAB Simulink. In all tests, reference trajectory was defined for movements of all axes of the robot manipulator. According to the results of the study, when the moment of inertia of the rotor is changed, less overshoot ratio and less oscillation are obtained in the neutrosophic fuzzy-PID controller. Thus, our suggested method is seen to be more robust than the fuzzy-PID controllers.

Development and Optimization of Alendronate Sodium Loaded PLGA Nanoparticles by Central Composite Design

        Umut Can Oz,Berrin Küçüktürkmen,Burcu Devrim,Ongun Mehmet Saka,Asuman Bozkir 한국고분자학회 2019 Macromolecular Research Vol.27 No.9

Alendronate sodium (AS) which supresses the activity of osteoclastic cells and leads to the inhibition of bone resorption, is one of the most clinically preferred drug for the treatment of osteoporosis. The purpose of this research is to develop an optimization method for AS loaded poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticle formulation which is prepared by nanoprecipitation method and is intended for local application to provide enhanced guided bone regeneration. Nanoparticle formulation parameters including AS content, polymer/surfactant ratio and organic to aqueous phase ratio were optimized to evaluate their effects on particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential and entrapment efficiency by using central composite experimental design (CCD). Morphology of nanoparticles was visualized with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and interaction between nanoparticle components was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The developed quadratic model showed high correlation (R2>0.89) between predicted response and evaluated parameters. Spherical nanoparticles with mean particle size of <84 nm and encapsulation efficiency with >34.68% were produced with the optimized nanoparticle preparation method. The optimization of AS encapsulating PLGA nanoparticles by utilizing CCD method, allowed us to prepare the nanoparticle formulation with optimum properties with less experiments. Consequently, this optimized model can be applied to predict the characteristics of nanoparticles prepared with nanoprecipitation method by using PLGA polymer.

      • Multicenter Epidemiologic Study on Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Turkey

        Can, Alper,Dogan, Erkan,Bayoglu, Ibrahim Vedat,Tatli, Ali Murat,Besiroglu, Mehmet,Kocer, Murat,Dulger, Ahmet Cumhur,Uyeturk, Ummugul,Kivrak, Derya,Orakci, Zuat,Bal, Oznur,Kacan, Turgut,Olmez, Sehmus,T Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.6

Background: Hepatocellular cancer (HCC) is one of the important health problems in Turkey, being very common and highly lethal. The aim of this study was to determine clinical, demographic features and risk factors. Materials and Methods: Nine hundred and sixth-three patients with HCC from 13 cities in Turkey were included in this study. Results: Only 205 (21%) of the 963 patients were women, with a male:female predominance of 4.8:1 and a median age of 61 years. The etiologic risk factors for HCC were hepatitis B in 555 patients (57.6%), 453 (81%) in men, and 102 (19%) in women, again with male predominance, hepatitis C in 159 (16.5%), (14.9% and 22.4%, with a higher incidence in women), and chronic alcohol abuse (more than ten years) in 137 (14.2%) (16.8% and 4.9%, higher in males). The Child-Pugh score paralleled with advanced disease stage amd also a high level of AFP. Conclusions: According to our findings the viral etiology (hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections) in the Turkish population was the most important factor in HCC development, with alcohol abuse as the third risk factor. The Child-Pugh classification and AFP levels were determined to be important prognostic factors in HCC patients.

Can tumor recurrence be reduced with plasma-kinetic vaporization of the area around the tumor in nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer?

        Yüksel Yılmaz,Mehmet Cemal Kahya,Fatma Hüsniye Dilek,Osman Köse,Serkan Özcan,Ertan Can,Yiğit Akın,Batuhan Ergani,Ahmet Selçuk Dindar 대한비뇨의학회 2018 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.59 No.4

Purpose: To investigate the effect on recurrence of vaporization of the tumor surroundings and suspicious areas with a plasma-kinetic (PK) system after transurethral resection (TUR) of nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer. Materials and Methods: The study included 121 patients with a primary superficial bladder tumor who were randomized as those who underwent TUR with the PK system (Group 1, n=62) and those who underwent TUR with the monopolar system (Group 2, n=59). The vaporization procedure was performed by suppressing the cutting option of the PK system for a period, which would accumulate energy sufficient to make swelling-waves on the mucosa very close to the area of the loop to be vaporized. Results: A total of 121 patients who met the study criteria were included for evaluation. Recurrence was determined in 21 patients in Group 1 (33.87%) and in 29 patients in Group 2 (49.15%) (p=0.088). Recurrence was close to the old resection site in 6 of 21 patients in Group 1, and in 13 patients in Group 2 (p=0.028); the difference was statistically significant. No statistically significant difference was determined between the two groups with respect to age, gender, number of tumor foci, rate or range of additional treatments applied, cigarette smoking rate, repeat TUR rate and rate of tumor en- countered in repeat TUR, T-stage, and tumor grade. Conclusions: The effect of vaporization on recurrence by the PK system may seem similar to the effect of standard TUR, the recurrence- lowering effect surrounding nonmuscle invasive bladder cancers is better.

        q-EXTENSIONS OF GENOCCHI NUMBERS

        CENKCI MEHMET,CAN MUMUN,KURT VELI Korean Mathematical Society 2006 대한수학회지 Vol.43 No.1

In this paper q-extensions of Genocchi numbers are defined and several properties of these numbers are presented. Properties of q-Genocchi numbers and polynomials are used to construct q-extensions of p-adic measures which yield to obtain p-adic interpolation functions for q-Genocchi numbers. As an application, general systems of congruences, including Kummer-type congruences for q-Genocchi numbers are proved.

      • Multi-biomarker approach to metabolic syndrome and associated diseases in Turkey: a cross sectional study

        ( Semra Can Mamur ),( Omer Colak ),( Selma Metintas ),( Inci Arikan ),( Mehmet Kara ) 한국정맥경장영양학회 2023 한국정맥경장영양학회지 Vol.15 No.3

Purpose: Biomarker for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are important in the clinical monitoring of individuals with metabolic syndrome (MetS). The use of these biomarkers in combination may be predictive of CVDs. This study aimed to demonstrate the ability of multiple biomarkers to predict MetS, diabetes mellitus (DM), and CVDs. The use of multiple biomarkers instead of a single biomarker may be more useful in early diagnosis. We investigated the use of a multi-biomarker approach in MetS and associated diseases. Methods: The study was performed by selecting control (n=30), MetS (n=30), MetS+DM (n=30), and MetS+CVD (n=30) groups from data of the Eskisehir Healthy Hearts Project conducted from January 2008 to October 2009 in Turkey. We recorded serum level of biomarkers, including lipid profile, liver enzyme, paraoxonase, arylesterase and arginase to find their difference among the groups. Results: Compared to the control group, gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and arginase levels increased, while paraoxonase and arylesterase activity and high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol levels were low in the patient groups (P<0.001). A negative correlation was observed between paraoxonase and arylesterase activity and MetS. Conclusion: We believe that the combined use of biomarkers, including GGT, arginase, paraoxonase, and arylesterase, may be useful in predicting diseases such as MetS and CVDs.

Molecular Typing and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus Strains Isolated from Raw Milk, Cheese, Minced Meat, and Chicken Meat Samples

        Hayriye Yesim Can,Mehmet Elmalı,Alper Karagoz 한국축산식품학회 2017 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.37 No.2

The objectives of this study were: i) to detect the presence of Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in raw milk, cheese, beef minced meat, and chicken meat samples; ii) to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates; and iii) to determine clonal relation among the isolates by using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) method. Therefore, a total of 160 food samples were randomly collected between August 2014 and May 2015 in Hatay province, located in the southern Turkey. Twenty (12.5%) of the samples were found to be contaminated with S. aureus. A total of 40 isolates from the 20 positive samples were confirmed to be S. aureus by multiplex PCR based on 16S rRNA and nuc gene. The mec A gene was not detected in any of the S. aureus strains. In the present study, 39 out of 40 (97.5%) isolates were found to be resistant to one or more antibiotics. All of isolates were susceptible to gentamicin, oxacillin, and vancomycin. The highest resistance rate was detected in penicillin (95%) and ampicillin (92.5%), followed by tetracycline (30%), erythromycin (20%), ciprofloxacin (12.5%). Nine major patterns were determined by PFGE. In 6 of these patterns, thirty-six strains (90%) had identical PFGE profiles.
