        Exploring dietitians’ views on digital nutrition educational tools in Malaysia: a qualitative study

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Dietitians frequently use nutrition education tools to facilitate dietary counselling sessions. Nevertheless, these tools may require adaptation to keep pace with technological advancements. This study had a 2-fold purpose: first, to identify the types of nutrition education tools currently in use, identify their limitations, and explore dietitians’ perspectives on the importance of these tools; second, to investigate the features that dietitians prefer in digital nutrition education tools. SUBJECTS/METHODS A semi-structured face-to-face interview was conducted among 15 dietitians from selected public hospitals, primary care clinics, and teaching hospitals in Malaysia. Inductive thematic analysis of the responses was conducted using NVivo version 12 software. RESULTS Most dietitians used physical education tools including the healthy plate model, pamphlets, food models, and flip charts. These tools were perceived as important as they facilitate the nutrition assessment process, deliver nutrition intervention, and are time efficient. However, dietitians described the current educational tools as impersonal, outdated, limited in availability due to financial constraints, unhandy, and difficult to visualise. Alternatively, they strongly favoured digital education tools that provided instant feedback, utilised an automated system, included a local food database, were user-friendly, developed by experts in the field, and seamlessly integrated into the healthcare system. CONCLUSION Presently, although dietitians have a preference for digital educational tools, they heavily rely on physical nutrition education tools due to their availability despite the perception that these tools are outdated, impersonal, and inconvenient. Transitioning to digital dietary education tools could potentially address these issues.       • Patient Satisfaction as an Indicator of Service Quality in Malaysian Public Hospitals

        The main aim of the paper is to provide an empirical analysis on patient satisfaction as an indicator of service quality in Malaysian public hospitals. Self-administered questionnaires were administered to patients by convenience sampling. Two sets of questionnaires were used, one for inpatient and another one set for outpatient. Selection of hospitals was made according to states in Peninsular Malaysia. 23 hospitals covering all state level hospitals, the National Referral Centre and selected district hospitals were chosen as respondent hospitals. Two dimensions of service quality emerged, namely clinical and physical dimension of service. Both outpatient and inpatient were found to be more satisfied with clinical dimension of service than physical dimension. For outpatient satisfaction, there was positive correlation between waiting time and patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction was also found to be higher in the smaller district hospitals than in the larger state hospitals. For clinical dimension of service, patients were satisfied with the services of doctors and nurses, while for physical dimension of service, patients were satisfied with the cleanliness of the facilities. The ability of the research to be conducted by random sampling was inhibited by the reluctance of patients to cooperate, which led to the use of convenience sampling. Studies have also shown that patients are reluctant to express their feelings on services provided by their caregivers. The study provides primary data for a nationwide study on patient satisfaction in Malaysian public hospitals, for both inpatient and outpatient.

        Portland-Blended Cement with Reduced CO<sub>2</sub> using Trass Pozzolan

        This paper reports the use of supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) derived from local resources, for the partial replacement of Portland cement to reduce $CO_2$ emission during cement production. Replacement of Portland clinkers up to 20 wt.% with SCMs in normal cements reduced $CO_2$ emission by 0.18 kg $CO_2$/kg. The compressive strength exceeded the standard specification for Portland cement ASTM C-150. Blended cement samples containing 20% Portland clinker replacement had compressive strengths of 37 MPa after 28 days of curing time. The microstructure evolution of blended cement at a composition of 80:20 was similar to that of the 100% Portland cement, where the structure between days 28 and 56 reached a steady state. Blended cements with compositions of 70:30 and 60:40 still showed progress of CSH plate formation and the lack of massive structure development. It is shown that the use of supplementary cementing materials could be as one of alternative ways to reduce $CO_2$ emissions during cement production. 이산화탄소 방출을 줄이기 위해 포트랜드 시멘트 성분 일부를 시멘트 보충재를 혼합해준 시멘트의 제조에 대해 연구하였다. 이산화탄소를 0.18 kg $CO_2$/kg 정도 줄이기 위해 포트랜드 시멘트에 보충재를 20 wt% 정도 혼합하였다. 이 혼합시멘트의 압축 강도는 포트랜드 시멘트 ASTM C-150의 표준치를 초과하며, 28일간의 굳는 과정중에 37 MPa의 압축 강도를 가졌다. 혼합시멘트의 미세구조는 포트랜드 시멘트와 유사하였다.

      • The Effect of Organisational Structure on Quality Management in Public Hospitals in a Developing Nation: A Comparative Study Between District, State and National Level Hospitals in Malaysia

        The objective of the study was to empirically assess the practice of quality management among employees of Malaysian public hospitals at the district, state and national level hospitals. Comparative analysis on the practice of quality management was made among the three groups of hospitals. Self-administered questionnaire was the main method of data collection. Twenty-three public hospitals throughout Peninsular Malaysia participated in the survey. Practice of quality management was found to be significantly higher in district hospitals than in the national referral centre, which is based in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. However, there was no significant difference in perception of implementation outcome between the three levels of hospitals. Among the factors of quality management, teamwork was found to be significantly higher in district hospitals than in state hospitals and the national referral centre. Leadership and management commitment was found to be significantly higher in district and state hospitals than in the national referral centre. The effect of organizational structure could have an effect on practice of quality management.

        Effect of narrow infill density gap on the compressive properties of 3D printed carbon fibre reinforced acrylonitrile butadiene styrene

        This study aims at assessing the effect of a narrow infill density gap on the compressive properties of 3D printed commercial carbon fibre reinforced ABS. Compressive specimens, with infill densities of 70, 80, 90 and 100 % were 3D printed via an FDM 3D printer and evaluated. The differences in compressive properties at infill densities of 80 and 90 % were statistically not significant although a strong correlation was quantified between the infill density and the compressive properties. This finding can be further employed to determine an appropriate infill density for targeted mechanical properties at a low material consumption for specific applications.

        Establishing Advertising Influence through Qualitative-Interpretive Research

As this proposed framework is substantially beneficial to designers and marketers to build credible brands, as well as purchase intention among consumers. This research were conducted using qualitative method in order to investigate insights of user groups, and their perception about the solid brand itself. In early findings, Brands and advertising visuals improve the credibility and influence to purchase, thus how this possibly will derived to loyalty or trust. The context took a case study series of advertisement of specific product, and immediate observation conducted towards participants. The attributes later defined using K.J and Priority method approaches. The findings and outcome believe factor, indicates the most significance priority in influences of purchase, meanwhile Advertising factors plays second important role when purchasing brands.         Exploring Conventional Models of Purchase Intention: Consumer Attitudes Towards Smartphones Advertisement

        Mobile phone makers compete for market shares through domination in media advertisements. These include domination of advertisements (Ads) in TV and the internet. However, the abundance and complexity of the competitions of Ads in TV does not guarantee advertising success which can influence consumers` emotion and the purchase intention towards the brand. This research analyses the case of a directional model on Attitude-towards-the-Ad model as a baseline into a new proposed correlation models (MacKenzie, Scott, &Lutz, 1989). The survey targets the involvements of Asian smartphone owners` attitude on advertisements, brands and purchase intentions. CFA (Confirmatory factor Analysis) was used in the research experiments, including hypothesis testing, the outcome of model fit which revealed significant levels and were successful. The study revealed that all three paths have consistently high coefficient paths (Attitude to Ads - Attitude to Brands - Purchase Intention), showing significant value of (β=>.80), which supported each correlation factors. Therefore, this structural model, could set standards for creative managers and advertising teams to improve the brands visibility and build strong influences on attitudes in advertisements and improve purchase intentions.
