We synthesized novel mesogenic axially chiral binaphthyl derivative by substituting phenyl-cyclohexyl (PCH) moieties into 2, 20,6 and 60 positions of binaphthyl rings. The binaphthyl derivative showed the highest twisting power ofbM = 381.87 l m. 1, when0.05 mol% of the chiral dopant was added into a mixture of PCH302 and PCH304. The helical pitches of N*-LC varied from270 to 350 nm with changes of the concentration of the chiral dopant from 1.5 to 1.0 mol%. These helical pitches are smallerone-tenth than those (25l m) observed in the N*-LC containing di-substituted binaphthyl derivatives. This indicates that the pres-ent N*-LC including tetra-substituted binaphthyl derivatives is feasible for much higher twisted asymmetric reaction eld. It is ofinterest that the polyacetylene lm synthesized in the N*-LC with helical pitch of 270 nm showed highly screwed brils, but notthe bundle of bril. This is due to the fact that the helical pitch of 270 nm is smaller than the diameter of the bundle of bril. Thissituation might depress the formation of the bundle of bril. The brillar morphology without the bundle of brils should make it much easier to evaluate electromagnetic properties of the screwed fibril.

농산물 계약재배에 관한 정책을 검토한 결과 우리나라의 채소 수급 안정제도는 농협과 조합원간의 계약재배가 중심이 되며 사업과정에서 참여농협의 자율성이 강조되고 있다. 반면 일본의 경우 정부가 수급조정과정을 주도하고 있다. 즉 우리나라의 노지채소 계약재배사업은 사업 참여 농협과 생산 농가가 계약가격, 물량 등 주요 사업내용을 자율적으로 결정하는 데 반해 일본은 정부가 총괄하여 수급계획을 수립하고 있다. 이상에서 살펴본 것과 같이 우리나라의 농산물 계약재배 정책은 정책사업이지 산지농협 자체의 수익사업이 아니다. 즉 농협과의 계약재배는 농민에게 좋은 가격을 받게 해주는 것이 아니라 수급조절을 통해 가격을 안정화하고, 최저가격을 보장하여 농가소득을 안정화하고, 소비자 물가를 안정화하는 것을 목표로 하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 Table 3과 같이 다양한 채소 수급 및 가격안정관련 정책이 시행되었음에도 불구하고 농협을 중심으로 한 농산물 계약재배가 확대되지 못한 이유는 재배농가들의 요구사항을 반영한 정책 수립이 부족하기 때문이다. 최근 이마트, 롯데마트 등 대형유통업체들의 자체 농산물포장센터가 운영되고 있거나 또는 계획중에 있다. 롯데마트는 330 m2규모(경기도 이천 소재)의 농산물포장센터에서 감자, 풋고추, 애호박, 당근 등 채소류를 취급하고 있다. 이마트도 50만 m2규모의 산지유통시설(APC)(경기도 이천소재) 건립을 발표하였다. 이와 같은 대형유통업체의 산지유통 진입으로 기존의 산지유통 조직들간의 경쟁이 심화될 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 농협을 중심으로 한 농산물 계약재배 확대를 위해서는 농가들이 농산물 판매처를 선택하는 기준과 농산물 계약재배 의향을 파악한 후 재배농가들의 요구사항이 반영된 농산물 계약재배 정책 수립 및 집행이 필요하다. 왜냐하면 농협 계약재배사업은 판로에 있어서 대안을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 가격형성에 있어서도 산지유통인과 산지 농협간 경쟁상황을 조성함으로써 산지 계약가격을 지지하는 효과가 발생할 수 있지만 판매처 선택 범위에 있어서 수집상들은 상황에 따라 다양한 선택을 할 수 있지만, 계약재배의 경우 정책 사업이라는 한계로 인해 판매처가 제한되어 있다는 불리함이 있을 수 있기 때문이다(이,1998). In Korea, Vegetables stable supply system is central to the agreement between the union and the National Agricultural Cooperative cultivation. And NACF`s participation in the business processes of autonomy is emphasized. The other hand, in the case of Japan, the government has carried out a demand adjustment process. In other words, to business contract cultivation of open field vegetables, farmers` agricultural and business participation in the contract price, volume and other major business decisions are made autonomously, while in Japan the government as a whole and the establishment of a supply plan.

Daily inspection or working reports are widely used in manufacturing companies. A lot of useful information for process conditions and status are included in such documents. Although there is a large volume of such reports, most companies do not try to analyze them to improve their processes. To find optimal process condition, they usually adopt experimental design or evolutionary operations methods, which are quite useful in laboratories but difficult or not economical to be applied in actual manufacturing processes under operation. This study proposes a data mining procedure that might be effective in analyzing process data. The main idea lies in the categorical transformation of process data. As the range of the process variables and quality characteristics are quite narrow, it is hard to apply standard statistical analysis procedures. Therefore, it is necessary to transform the data to be suitable for analysis. In this study, data categorization is adopted and then conventional statistical tools such as contingency tables are applied. Such analysis extracted some patterns and information that can be used in searching optimal process conditions.
Runx3 is required for the differentiation of lung epithelial cells and suppression of lung cancer

Human lung adenocarcinoma, the most prevalent form of lung cancer, is characterized by many molecular abnormalities. K-ras mutations are associated with the initiation of lung adenocarcinomas, but K-ras-independent mechanisms may also initiate lung tumors. Here, we find that the runt-related transcription factor Runx3 is essential for normal murine lung development and is a tumor suppressor that prevents lung adenocarcinoma. Runx3−/− mice, which die soon after birth, exhibit alveolar hyperplasia. Importantly, Runx3−/− bronchioli exhibit impaired differentiation, as evidenced by the accumulation of epithelial cells containing specific markers for both alveolar (that is SP-B) and bronchiolar (that is CC10) lineages. Runx3−/− epithelial cells also express Bmi1, which supports self-renewal of stem cells. Lung adenomas spontaneously develop in aging Runx3+/− mice (∼18 months after birth) and invariably exhibit reduced levels of Runx3. As K-ras mutations are very rare in these adenomas, Runx3+/− mice provide an animal model for lung tumorigenesis that recapitulates the preneoplastic stage of human lung adenocarcinoma development, which is independent of K-Ras mutation. We conclude that Runx3 is essential for lung epithelial cell differentiation, and that downregulation of Runx3 is causally linked to the preneoplastic stage of lung adenocarcinoma.

We investigated the breakdown patterns of silica glass under the various impacts by forensic scientific analysis. The impacts were chosen by thermal and projectiles impact stress. Thermal impacts under the fire were constructed by changing the position of the flame with gas torches. Physical impacts were constructed with the projectiles of slingshots and rifles by changing the size of the projectiles at the surfaces and the initial distance. Also we identified incident angles of the projectiles by analysis of the punching portion at the glass surface. Under the thermal impacts, the breakdown patterns were various by changing the position of the flame. Especially, the configuration of breakdown patterns had radial shape with the position of the flame at the center of the glass sheet. Under the physical impacts by the projectiles, the breakdown patterns had always radial shape

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation is increasing, as rituximab has become widely used for B-cell lymphoma. Thus, prevention and management of HBV reactivation are important in HBV-endemic areas. Methods: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation in HBV surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive patients and HBsAg-negative/HBV core antibody (HBcAb)-positive patients who received rituximab-containing chemotherapy was investigated by the Asia Lymphoma Study Group via retrospective (n=340), and the results were compared to cross-sectional analysis with patients who were prospectively monitored in a single institute (n=127). The goal of the study was to define the frequency of HBV reactivation and the efficacy of antiviral prophylaxis. Results: HBV reactivation was found in 27.8% of HBsAg-positive patients (45/162) in the retrospective analysis, being significantly less frequent in patients receiving antiviral prophylaxis than those not (22.9%, 32/140 versus 59.1%, 13/22; p<0.001). Lamivudine was most commonly used (96/162, 59.3%), but more than 20% of HBsAg-positive patients showed breakthrough HBV reactivation. In the cross-sectional analysis, a reduced rate of HBV reactivation occurred for entecavir as compared with lamivudine prophylaxis (6.3% versus 39.3%; p<0.05). HBV DNA monitoring of HBsAg-negative/HBcAb-positive patients in the cross-sectional analysis showed HBV reactivation in only 2.4% of cases. Conclusions: This is the largest study of HBV reactivation in patients receiving rituximab-containing chemotherapy to date, and we defined the probability of HBV reactivation in an HBV-endemic region.

Peripartum cardiomyopathy is relatively uncommon and characterized by cardiac dilatation and congestive heart failure of unexplained cause during the last trimester of pregnancy or within 6 months after delivery. The cause of this disease is unknown and the mortality rate may be as high as 25 to 50 percent. Recently, we experienced a case of this disease in 34 year-old woman who had triple pregnancy and preterm labor at 30 weeks of gestation. This case was summarized here with brief review of related literatures.
