A family of hypergeometric integrals associated with Ramanujan's integral formula

        H. M. Srivastava,M. I. Qureshi,R. Singh,A. Arora 장전수학회 2009 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.18 No.2

The main object of this paper is to investigate some interesting applications and generalizations of Ramanujan’s integral formula (which he obtained with the help of the celebrated Ramanujan Master Theorem). Motivated essentially by some recent works by M. Garg and S. Mittal (see, for example, [South East Asian J. Math. Math. Sci. 1 (2) (2003), 85–95]), we evaluate several general families of definite integrals involving functions of one and more complex variables, some of which are then applied to derive the corresponding results associated with the generalized hypergeometric function pFq and the Fox-Wright further generalizations denoted by p[수식]q and p[수식]q . An integral formula considered recently by R. P. Agarwal [Resonance of Ramanujan’s Mathematics, Vol. I, New Age International Publishers Limited, New Delhi, 1996], which is closely associated with the aforementioned Ramanujan’s result, is also corrected and modified here appropriately.

Boron Detection Technique in Silicon Thin Film Using Dynamic Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry

        ( M. Abul Hossion ),( Brij M. Arora ) 한국질량분석학회 2021 Mass spectrometry letters Vol.12 No.1

The impurity concentration is a crucial parameter for semiconductor thin films. Evaluating the impurity distribution in silicon thin film is another challenge. In this study, we have investigated the doping concentration of boron in silicon thin film using time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry in dynamic mode of operation. Boron doped silicon film was grown on i) p-type silicon wafer and ii) borosilicate glass using hot wire chemical vapor deposition technique for possible applications in optoelectronic devices. Using well-tuned SIMS measurement recipe, we have detected the boron counts 101~104 along with the silicon matrix element. The secondary ion beam sputtering area, sputtering duration and mass analyser analysing duration were used as key variables for the tuning of the recipe. The quantitative analysis of counts to concentration conversion was done following standard relative sensitivity factor. The concentration of boron in silicon was determined 1017~1021 atoms/㎤. The technique will be useful for evaluating distributions of various dopants (arsenic, phosphorous, bismuth etc.) in silicon thin film efficiently.

Estimation of Phosphorus Concentration in Silicon Thin Film on Glass Using ToF-SIMS

        ( M. Abul Hossion ),( Karthick Murukesan ),( Brij M. Arora ) 한국질량분석학회 2021 Mass spectrometry letters Vol.12 No.2

Evaluating the impurity concentrations in semiconductor thin films using time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) is an effective technique. The mass interference between isotopes and matrix element in data interpretation makes the process complex. In this study, we have investigated the doping concentration of phosphorus in, phosphorus doped silicon thin film on glass using ToF-SIMS in the dynamic mode of operation. To overcome the mass interference between phosphorus and silicon isotopes, the quantitative analysis of counts to concentration conversion was done following two routes, standard relative sensitivity factor (RSF) and SIMetric software estimation. Phosphorus doped silicon thin film of 180 nm was grown on glass substrate using hot wire chemical vapor deposition technique for possible applications in optoelectronic devices. Using ToF-SIMS, the phosphorus-31 isotopes were detected in the range of 101~104 counts. The silicon isotopes matrix element was measured from p-type silicon wafer from a separate measurement to avoid mass interference. For the both procedures, the phosphorus concentration versus depth profiles were plotted which agree with a percent difference of about 3% at 100 nm depth. The concentration of phosphorus in silicon was determined in the range of 1019~1021 atoms/cm3. The technique will be useful for estimating distributions of various dopants in the silicon thin film grown on glass using ToF-SIMS overcoming the mass interference between isotopes.

Ectopic teeth with disparate migration: A literature review and new case series

        Arora Pallak,Nair Madhu K.,Liang Hui,Patel Paras B.,Wright John M.,Tahmasbi Arashlow Mehrnaz 대한영상치의학회 2023 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.53 No.3

Purpose: Ectopic eruption can be defined as the emergence of a tooth in an abnormal location, where the tooth does not follow its typical eruption pathway. While ectopic eruption within the dentate region is well-documented in the literature, ectopic eruption in non-dentate regions is relatively rare. This study aimed to report 6 cases of ectopic teeth and present a systematic review of the English-language literature on ectopic teeth, emphasizing demographic characteristics, radiographic features, potential complications, and treatment options. Materials and Methods: A literature search was conducted using the PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases. The demographic data and radiographic findings of patients presenting with ectopic teeth were recorded. Results: The literature review yielded 61 cases of ectopic teeth, with patients ranging in age from 3 to 74 years. The findings from these previously reported cases demonstrated that the most common location for ectopic teeth was the maxillary sinus, which is consistent with this case series. The Pearson chi-square test was performed to evaluate the correlation between age and location of ectopic teeth, and the results were found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). However, no statistically significant relationship was observed between sex and the location of ectopic teeth. Conclusion: The distinct features of these cases warrant reporting. This study presents the first case of supernumerary teeth in the condyle without any associated pathosis. Another notable characteristic is the pre-eruptive resorption of 2 inverted supernumerary teeth ectopically located in the palate, which predisposes to sinus opacification.

Multilocus Genotyping to Study Population Structure in Three Buffalo Populations of India

        Tantia, M.S.,Vijh, R.K.,Mishra, Bina,Kumar, S.T. Bharani,Arora, Reena Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2006 Animal Bioscience Vol.19 No.8

Three buffalo populations viz. Bhadawari, Tarai and local buffaloes of Kerala were genotyped using 24 heterologous polymorphic microsatellite loci. A total of 140 alleles were observed with an average observed heterozygosity of 0.63. All the loci were neutral and 18 out of the 24 loci were in Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium. The $F_{IS}$ values (estimate of inbreeding) for 16 loci in all the three populations were negative. This indicated lack of population structure in the three populations. The effective number of immigrants was 5.88 per generation between the Tarai and Bhadawari populations which was quite high suggesting substantial gene flow. The genetic distances revealed closeness between the Tarai and Bhadawari populations which was expected from geographical contiguity. The FST values were not significantly different from zero showing no population differentiation. The Correspondence Analysis based on the allelic frequency data clustered the majority of the Tarai and Bhadawari individuals as an admixture.

Study of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in advanced malignant ovarian germ cell tumors at a tertiary center in western India

        Abhilash Vasanth,Shilpa M Patel,Ruchi Arora,Chetana D Parekh,Pariseema Dave,Bijal M Patel,Priyanka Vemanamandhi 대한부인종양학회 2024 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.35 No.2

Objective: To study clinical characters and outcomes in patients of malignant ovarian germcell tumor (MOGCT) undergoing surger y following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Methods: Retrospective study of patients undergoing surger y following NACT for MOGCT atour institute. Platinum based chemotherapy was given in all patients in NACT. Results: Between March 2013 and Februar y 2023, 30 patients had surger y after NACT. Patient’s median age was 22 years (range, 12 to 35 years) and median follow up 42months(range, 6 to 132 months). Majority had endodermal sinus tumor (n=12), dysgerminoma (n=9)and mixed GCT (n=7). All had either International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO) stage 3 (n=19) or FIGO stage 4 disease (n=11). Complete response to NACT seen in5 patients and 23 patients had partial response. Fertility sparing surger y in 18 patients andcomplete surger y in 12 patients. Suboptimal surger y was seen in 4 patients. Currently, 20of 30 patients are alive and disease free, 3 lost for follow up and 7 patients had progressionafter adjuvant therapy. Five patients had mortality—4 with progression and 1 with bleomycintoxicity. Fifteen of 17 eligible patients have resumed menstruation and one had successfulpregnancy. Prognostic factors noted in study are stage, optimal surger y and viable tumor inhistopathology. Dysgerminoma had better outcome than other histology. Conclusion: NACT may be a reasonable option in patients with extensive unresectable diseaseor in whom fertility sparing is not possible or in the poor general condition. Fertility sparingsurger y can be attempted post neoadjuvant chemotherapy without adversely affecting prognosis.

Resuscitation from a pH of 6.5: A Case Report and Review of Pathophysiology and Management of Extreme Acidosis from Hypovolemic Shock after Trauma

        ( Alexander Balmaceda ),( Sona Arora ),( Ilan Sondheimer ),( Mckenzie M. Hollon ) 대한외상학회 2019 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.32 No.4

Extreme acidosis is a life-threatening physiological state that causes disturbances in the cardiovascular, pulmonary, immune, and hematological systems. Trauma patients commonly present to the operating room (OR) in hypovolemic shock, leading to tissue hypoperfusion and the development of acute metabolic acidosis with or without a respiratory component. It is often believed that trauma patients presenting to the OR in severe metabolic acidosis (pH <7.0) will have a nearly universal mortality rate despite aggressive resuscitation and damage control. The current literature does not include reports of successful resuscitations from a lower pH, which may lead providers to assume that a good outcome is not possible. However, here we describe a case of successful resuscitation from an initial pH of 6.5 with survival to discharge home 95 days after admission with almost full recovery. We describe the effects of acute acidosis on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems and hemostasis. Finally, we discuss the pillars of management in patients with extreme acute acidosis due to hemorrhage: transfusion, treatment of hyperkalemia, and consideration of buffering acidosis with bicarbonate and hyperventilation.

Two-Dimensional Nanosheets Produced by Liquid Exfoliation of Layered Materials

        Coleman, J. N.,Lotya, M.,O'Neill, A.,Bergin, S. D.,King, P. J.,Khan, U.,Young, K.,Gaucher, A.,De, S.,Smith, R. J.,Shvets, I. V.,Arora, S. K.,Stanton, G.,Kim, H.-Y.,Lee, K.,Kim, G. T.,Duesberg, G. S.,H American Association for the Advancement of Scienc 2011 Science Vol.331 No.6017

<P>If they could be easily exfoliated, layered materials would become a diverse source of two-dimensional crystals whose properties would be useful in applications ranging from electronics to energy storage. We show that layered compounds such as MoS(2), WS(2), MoSe(2), MoTe(2), TaSe(2), NbSe(2), NiTe(2), BN, and Bi(2)Te(3) can be efficiently dispersed in common solvents and can be deposited as individual flakes or formed into films. Electron microscopy strongly suggests that the material is exfoliated into individual layers. By blending this material with suspensions of other nanomaterials or polymer solutions, we can prepare hybrid dispersions or composites, which can be cast into films. We show that WS(2) and MoS(2) effectively reinforce polymers, whereas WS(2)/carbon nanotube hybrid films have high conductivity, leading to promising thermoelectric properties.</P>
