Type-C retrovirus, human T-cell leukemia virus type-l(HTLV-1), has been shown to be associated etiologically with adult T-cell leukemia, which is an endemic disease in southwestern parts of Japan. We examined the seroepidemiological characteristics of antibody to adult T-cell leukemia virus associated antigen (anti-ATLA-antibody) by the indirect immunofluorescent assay and ELISA from the healthy individuals and various diseased patients in the Republic of Korea, a country adjacent to Japan in which HTLV-1 is endemic. The results were as follows. 24 out of 9,603 individuals(0.25%) were seropiositive. The positve rate was 0.17% in males and 0.36% in females, the sex difference was female predominent relatively. HTLV-1 carriers were found 16 individuals in Seoul, 5 in Kyonggi area, 1 in Chungnam and Jonbuk, respectively, but found only 1 individual in Busan city and Jaejoo area close to southwestern parts of Japan. Positive rate to anti-ATLA-antibody seemed to be high in older age, especially at the 50s(0. 4Yo). In conclusion the prevalence rate of anti-ATLA- antibody seemed to be very low in the Republic of Korea adjacent to Japan in which HTLV-1 is endemic and no patient with adult T-cell leukemia has been found as yet. Also we noted that the Republic of Korea is not an endemic area to HTLV-1.

본고는 「古事記」신라의 왕자로서 일본에 도래했다고 기록된 아메노히보코(天之日矛) 특히 그 탄생전승에 대해 고찰한 것이다. 필자는 이 탄생전승을 대륙계인 일광감정형과 남방계인 난생형의 복합적인 요소리는 선행연구를 재고하여 .공간형.으로 간주했다. 그 공간에 대해서는 새로운 생명이 탄생한다는 내용을 입각하여 그것에 태중(胎中) 혹은 자궁에 관련된다고 파악했다. 다음 일광감정에 대해 고찰함으로 아이를 잉태한다는 내용을 중심으로 조령(祖靈)이나 사자(死者)의 작용을 상징한다고 간주했다. 이상의 두 가지의 고찰로 인해 적옥의 원형을 잉태라는 새로운 생명의 탄생,그리고 조령과의 관련에서 사자를 제사하는 묘제(墓制)라는 이중의 의미가 있는 것을 발견했다. 따라서 이 탄생전승은 .생(生).과 .사(死).라는 의례적인 요소가 공존하는 내용이 담겨 있는 것을 찾아볼 수 있다. This research probes into the folklore about the birth of Amenohiboko in Japan, which has been handed down from generation to generation since ancient times. The story is recorded in Kosagi, the classics on Japanese myths, as follows. It is believed that a woman, on receiving sunlight, bore a red gem from which a female child was born, and that Amenohiboko got married with the girl. Concerning this folklore, it has been interpreted as the complex story of the oviparity myth of the southern community and the sunlight sentiment of the northern community. The writer raised some questions about this form of interpretation and tried to make three new observations. First, I do not see the red gem as an egg, but as a form of space, which means either a mother``s womb or inside the womb. Second, through the interpretation of it as a space form, I see it like a funeral ceremony, and the sunlight as calling up the ancestor``s soul (in a memorial service). Third, I would understand the Agu marsh to be a mother and her unborn baby, and that the marsh protects the baby at birth. Summarizing my three points mentioned above, the red gem representing space symbolizes a woman``s womb as well as a coffin that holds a dead body. In other words, this means rebirth of the dead spirit within a mother``s womb.

Multiple prior studies stress that continued Kaizen activity is conducive to building and maintaining competitive advantages of manufacturing companies. Meanwhile, it remains unclear as to what kind of management factors may exert impact on sustainment of Kaizen activity. This paper discusses a study conducted on the cases of two manufacturing lines, where such activity has been continued for more than ten years. At first, it was discovered that study period was divided into different periods. It was also found out that 'standstill conditions' which prevent smooth progress of activity exist in many periods, and that such conditions are hard to avoid. The study went on to categorize progress of activity in each period into different patterns, including at which points standstill conditions occurred, thereby, circumstances of standstill conditions were made clear. This paper verified a detailed process of Kaizen activity development in each period and the relationship between that detailed process and points of occurrence of standstill conditions. Thought was also given to factors and actions for smooth development, and effects brought about by overcoming such challenges. Lastly, consideration was given to the future perspectives of the study for elucidating how better Kaizen activity may be managed for continuation.
Analytical Surge Behaviors in Systems of a Single-stage Axial Flow Compressor and Flow-paths

Behaviors of surges appearing near the stall stagnation boundaries in various fashions in systems of a single-stage compressor and flow-path systems were studied analytically and were tried to put to order. Deep surges, which enclose the stall point in the pressure-mass flow plane, tend to have either near-resonant surge frequencies or subharmonic ones. The subharmonic surge is a multiple-loop one containing, for example, in a (1/2) subharmonic one, a deep surge loop and a mild surge loop, the latter of which does not enclose the stall point, staying only within the stalled zone. Both loops have nearly equal time periods, respectively, resulting in a (1/2) subharmonic surge frequency as a whole. The subharmonic surges are found to appear in a narrow zone neighboring the stall stagnation boundary. In other words, they tend to appear in the final stage of the stall stagnation process. It should be emphasized further that the stall stagnation initiates fundamentally at the situation where a volume-modified reduced resonant-surge frequency becomes coincident with that for the stagnation boundary conditions, where the reduced frequency is defined by the acoustical resonance frequency in the flow-path system, the delivery flow-path length and the compressor tip speed, modified by the sectional area ratio and the effect of the stalling pressure ratio. The real surge frequency turns from the resonant frequency to either near-resonant one or subharmonic one, and finally to stagnation condition, for the large-amplitude conditions, caused by the non-linear self-excitation mechanism of the surge.
Application of DV-X$\alpha$ Method to ${\gamma}$-2CaO.SiO$_2$

In the present study, we attempted to apply DV-X$\alpha$ method to expressing the reactivity of materials. The expression of reactivity was discussed by comparison between ${\gamma}$-C$_2$G having hydraulic activity and ${\gamma}$-C$_2$S not having hydraulic activity at normal conditions. It was found that the model cluster used for calculation can finely reproduce the bulk and surface states using with and without point charge, respectively. The hydration state was also represented by placing OH ̄ on the surface of the cluster. It was calculated that the bond strength of the first layer (as surface) was bigger than that of inner layers (as bulk) for ${\gamma}$-C$_2$S while that of the first layer for ${\gamma}$-C$_2$G was smaller than that of inner layers. Subsequently a model in which OH ̄ is coordinated on Ca at the surface was also calculated. The bond strength with OH ̄ was stronger than that without OH ̄, while for ${\gamma}$-C$_2$G the bond strength with OH ̄ was weaker than that without OH ̄. From these results, it is concluded that the hydraulic activity depends on whether the bond strength for hydrated state becomes weaker than that unhydrated state or not.
