        Statistical inference for the unbalanced two-way error component regression model with errors-in-variables

        In this paper, we investigate the estimation and testing problems of unbalanced twoway error component regression model with errors-in-variables. The estimation of the unknown parameter is given based on the bias-corrected technique, and the asymptotic property of the resulting estimator is shown under some regularity conditions. For the hypothesis testing problem of restricted condition, a test statistic is constructed through the difference of the corrected residual sums of squares under the null and alternative hypotheses. Then we develop an adjusted test statistic, which follows an asymptotically standard Chi-squared distribution. Some simulation studies and a real data analysis are carried out to assess the performance of the proposed methods.

        Serial Frozen Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in the Treatment of Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-obstruction: A Preliminary Study

        Background/Aims Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction (CIPO) is a serious, life-threatening motility disorder that is often related to bacterial overgrowth. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) results in restoration of the normal intestinal microbial community structure. We investigated the efficacy of FMT in the treatment of CIPO patients. Methods Nine patients (age 18-53 years) with CIPO were enrolled in this prospective, open-label study. Patients received FMT for 6 consecutive days through nasojejunal (NJ) tubes and were followed up for 8 weeks after treatment. We evaluated the rate of clinical improvement and remission, feeding tolerance of enteral nutrition, and CT imaging scores of intestinal obstructions. Lactulose hydrogen breath tests were performed before FMT and 8 weeks after FMT to evaluate for the presence small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Results FMT significantly alleviated bloating symptoms, and symptoms of pain were relieved 2 weeks after FMT. Enteral nutrition administered through a NJ tube after FMT was well-tolerated by 66.7% (6/9) of patients. CT scores of intestinal obstructions were significantly reduced after FMT (P = 0.014). SIBO was eliminated in 71.0% (5/7) of patients. Conclusions This pilot study demonstrated the safety of using FMT. FMT may relieve symptoms in selected patients with CIPO. FMT may also improve patient tolerance of enteral nutrition delivered via a NJ tube. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2017;23:289-297)

        급속 열처리를 이용한 Ag와 MgZnO 박막의 쇼트키 다이오드 특성 연구

        If stable Schottky diode characteristics are to be obtained, a stable Schottky barrier must be formed. In this work, ZnO and Mg0.3Zn0.7O films were deposited by RF sputtering with ZnO and Mg0.3Zn0.7O targets, respectively. For the formation of the Schottky contact, Ag metal was used and was annealed by using a rapid thermal process in air at 300 ℃, sequentially. The Schottky diode characteristics of ZnO and Mg0.3Zn0.7O were compared to understand of the effect of Mg and rapid thermal annealing. While the ZnO film showed no Schottky diode property, the sample of Mg0.3Zn0.7O that had undergone rapid thermal annealing showed an Ion/Ioff ratio of > 104, a threshold voltage of 1.10 V and a Schottky barrier of 1.10 eV. 안정적인 쇼트키 접합 특성을 얻기 위해서는 쇼트키 장벽의 형성이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 Mg0.3Zn0.7O 타겟과 ZnO 타겟을 이용하여 RF 스퍼터링으로 ZnO와 Mg0.3Zn0.7O 박막을 형성하였다. 쇼트키 접합을 형성하기 위해 Ag 금속을 사용하였으며, 대기 분위기에서 300 ℃에서 급속 열처리를 한 후, Mg의 영향과 급속 열처리에 대한 영향을 알아보기 위하여 ZnO 박막과 Mg0.3Zn0.7O 박막의 쇼트키 다이오드 특성을 비교하였다. ZnO 박막의 경우, 열처리 전과 후, 모두 쇼트키 다이오드 특성이 나타나지 않았으나, MgZnO 박막의 경우, 열처리된 시편에서 약 104 이상의 점멸비, 1.10 V의 문턱전압, 그리고 1.10 eV의 장벽 높이를 보였다.

        SURF4 maintains stem-like properties via BIRC3 in ovarian cancer cells

        Objective: As cancer stem cells (CSCs) are considered as the origin of tumor development,recurrence, and drug resistance, we aimed to explore the mechanism related to modulatingstemness in CSCs, thus facilitating to search for new therapeutic strategy for ovarian cancer. Methods: In this study, ovarian cancer stem cells (OCSCs) induced from cell line 3AOand A2780 were enriched in serum-free medium (SFM). The effect of SURF4 on CSC-likeproperties was evaluated by sphere-forming assays, re-differentiation assays, quantitativereal-time polymerase chain reaction, flow cytometry, Western blotting, cell viability assaysand in vivo xenograft experiments. The downstream molecule participating in SURF4maintaining stemness was screened by RNA-sequencing and identified by the experiments ofgene function. Results: SURF4 was upregulated expressed in OCSCs. Knockdown of SURF4 reduced theexpression of the related stem markers (SOX2 and c-MYC), inhibited self-renewal ability,and improved the sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs (paclitaxel and cisplatin) in OCSCs. SURF4 knockdown also inhibited tumorigenesis in nonobese diabetic/severe combinedimmunodeficiency mice. BIRC3 expression was controlled by SURF4, and BIRC3 showedthe similar effect as SURF4 did, and BIRC3 overexpression partially recovered stem-likeproperties abolished by SURF4 knockdown. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that SURF4 possesses the ability to maintain stemness ofOCSCs via BIRC3, and may serve as a potential target in stem cell-targeted therapy forovarian cancer.

      • Correction: Robust MAVE for single‑index varying‑coefficient models

        In this paper, a robust, efficient and easily implemented estimation procedure for single-index varying-coefficient models is proposed by combining minimum average variance estimation (MAVE) with exponential squared loss. The merit of the proposed method is robust against outliers or heavy-tailed error distributions while asymptotically efficient as the original MAVE under the normal error case. A practical minorization–maximization algorithm is proposed for implementation. Under some regularity conditions, asymptotic distributions of the resulting estimators are derived. Simulation studies and a real data example are conducted to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed method. Both theoretical and empirical findings confirm that our proposed method works very well.

        Electric Control of Friction on Silicon Studied by Atomic Force Microscope

        We investigated friction on an n-type silicon surface using an atomic force microscope when a bias voltage was applied to the sample. Friction forces on the same track line were measured before and after the bias voltages were applied and it was found that the friction forces in n-type silicon can be tuned reversibly with the bias voltage. The dependence of adhesion forces between the silicon nitride tip and Si sample on the bias voltages approximately follows a parabolic law due to electrostatic force, which results in a significant increase in the friction force at an applied electric field.

        Dynamic Output Feedback Control and Guaranteed Cost Finite-time Boundedness for Uncertain Switched Linear Systems

        This paper is concerned with dynamic quantized output feedback and event-triggered guaranteed cost finite-time H∞ control for uncertain switched linear systems with exogenous disturbance. First, one mode-dependent periodic event-triggered strategy is designed, which means that each subsystem has its own event-triggered mechanism. Meanwhile, the periodic detection of the error greatly reduces the sampling number and avoids the appearance of Zeno behavior. Second, considering the state information of the system is difficult to obtain completely, dynamic quantized output feedback controllers based on logarithmic quantizer are used to stabilize the switched system. Besides, combine the multiple Lyapunov functionals and the average dwell time condition, the sufficient condition of finite-time boundedness with H∞ performance level is obtained for the uncertain switched system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified a practical example.

        The Phylogenetic Analysis of Camellia sinensis cv. Longjing 43

        In the recent years, researches in phylogeny and evolution based on the chloroplast genome attracted more and more attentions. The entire chloroplast genome of 13 species of typical core eudicots including Camellia sinensis cv. Longjing 43 was compared to analyze the genetic relationship in this study. 3 different methods were used to buildParsimony method. All the results showed that Longjing 43 and Ardisia polysticta have a closer relationship, with 100% support. Further researches should be done and more factors should be considered in phylogenetic analysis based on the complete chloroplast genome.
