Current state of research about acupuncture for the treatment of COVID-19: A scoping review

        Chen Chen,Jie Zhan,Hao Wen,Xiaojing Wei,Lu Ding,Chenyang Tao,Cui Li,Peiming Zhang,Yuyuan Tang,Jing-chun Zeng,Li-ming Lu 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.-

Background Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), acupuncture has been widely used in the treatment of COVID-19. The research community has responded rapidly and has already published many research articles about this topic. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library as well as CNKI, Wanfang and VIP from January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The dates of publication, language of publication, methodological characteristics and the key findings were analyzed separately. The data are presented as bar graphs, structured tables and figures. Results In this scoping review, 16 research articles were included: 7 case reports, 6 observational studies, 1 review, 1 RCT and 1 nonrandomized clinical trial. The majority of the articles (81.3%) were published by Chinese scholars, 12.5% articles were by scholars in the United States, and 6.3% articles were by scholars in Iran. The included studies reported that acupuncture could alleviate the symptoms of COVID-19 patients, shorten their hospitalization days, and is effective for the elderly. There were no side effects reported. The most frequent acupoints used were LI4, PC6, ST36 and KI3. They reported many obstacles in implementing acupuncture therapy for treating COVID-19 patients. Conclusion Acupuncture has a good effect for the treatment of COVID-19, but high-quality evidence support is still lacking. Coupled with the difficulties that acupuncturists experienced during the process of treatment, the promotion of acupuncture treatment for COVID-19 faces many obstacles. Enhanced Formaldehyde Gas Sensing Properties of ZnO Nanosheets Modified with Graphene

        Ziwei Chen,Yuyuan Hong,Zhidong Lin,Li-Ming Liu,Xiao-Wen Zhang 대한금속·재료학회 2017 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.13 No.3

In this study, pure ZnO (ZnO-1, ZnO-2) with two different morphologies, andgraphene doped ZnO-2 (G-ZnO-2) were synthesized using a simplehydrothermal process at 150 °C. The formaldehyde gas sensing performanceof the G-ZnO-2 composite, synthesized by an in-situ method was investigated. The morphologies and the structures of the nanomaterials were characterizedby X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electronic microscopy, andtransmission electron microscopy. The experimental results indicate that the GZnO-2 based sensor exhibits unique advantages for the sensing offormaldehyde gas at concentrations in the range of 2 to 2000 ppm, such as fastresponse/recovery time and good selectivity, at an optimal workingtemperature of 200 °C. The improved sensing performance of the G-ZnO-2composite indicates that the addition of graphene is effective in improving theformaldehyde sensing performance of ZnO-based sensors.

Effect of Adding Surfactant for Transforming Lignocellulose into Fermentable Sugars during Biocatalysing

        Yuqing Zhang,Xuemin Xu,Yuyuan Zhang,Jianfa Li 한국생물공학회 2011 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.16 No.5

Fuel ethanol is one of the most important alternative fuels used as a substitute for fossil fuel. Lignocellulose is the most abundant biomass resource for the production of fuel ethanol. However, the hydrolysis of lignocellulose requires high enzyme loading. In order to strengthen the process of enzyme hydrolysis of lignocellulose,surfactant-polyethylene glycol (PEG) was applied to the catalysis of lignocellulose into fermentable sugars. The effect of PEG on both the enzymatic hydrolysis and adsorption of cellulose were investigated. The addition of surfactant obviously facilitated enzymatic hydrolysis. In particular, upon addition of PEG4000, the enzyme catalytic efficiency increased by 51.06%. Meanwhile, the adsorption quantity of cellulase decreased by 11.25%. In addition, the mechanism of the effect of PEG on enzymatic hydrolysis and cellulase adsorption is discussed.

Agromyces laixinhei sp. nov. isolated from bat feces in China

        Cheng Yanpeng,Bai Yibo,Huang Yuyuan,Yang Jing,Lu Shan,Jin Dong,Pu Ji,Zheng Han,Li Junqin,Huang Ying,Wang Suping,Xu Jianguo 한국미생물학회 2021 The journal of microbiology Vol.59 No.5

Three rod-shaped, Gram-stain-positive, and catalase-positive, phenotypically closely related isolates (HY052T, HY050, and HY045) were obtained from fecal samples collected from bats in Guangxi province and Chongqing city of China. Circular, smooth, light-yellow colonies appeared on brain heart infusion plate after 24–48 h incubation at 28°C. The optimal pH for growth was between 6.0 and 7.5. Based on 16S rRNA, the three isolates were phylogenetically related to Agromyces terreus DS-10T, Agromyces aureus AR33T, Agromyces salentinus 20-5T, Agromyces allii UMS-62T, Agromyces lapidis CD55T, and Agromyces italicus CD1T. Moreover, based on 296 core genes, the phylogenomic tree indicated that the three isolates clustered together, closest to Agromyces cerinus VKM Ac- 1340T and Agromyces fucosus VKM Ac-1345T but separated distantly from other Agromyces species. The average nucleotide identity values between strain HY052T and other Agromyces species ranged from 79.3% to 87.9%, lower than the 95–96% threshold. Furthermore, the genome of strain HY052T contains a circular chromosome of 3,437,203 bp with G + C content of 69.0 mol%. Main fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0 and anteiso-C17:0. The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and unidentified glycolipids. Rhamnose, ribose, and glucose were the primary cell wall sugars. The major peptidoglycan amino acids included alanine, glutamic acid, glycine, and 2,4-diaminobutyric acid. An additional remarkable difference from other Agromyces species is that MK-12 was the sole menaquinone in strain HY052T. Based on results from the polyphasic characterizations performed in this study, our isolates are proposed to be members of a novel species in genus Agromyces, named Agromyces laixinhei. The type strain is HY052T (= CGMCC 1.17175T = JCM 33695T).

Georgenia faecalis sp. nov. isolated from the faeces of Tibetan antelope

        Wang Xiaoxia,Yang Jing,Huang Yuyuan,Wu Xiaomin,Wang Licheng,Han Limei,Li Sha,Li Huan,Fu Xiaoying,Chen Hai,Zhu Xiong 한국미생물학회 2020 The journal of microbiology Vol.58 No.9

Two aerobic, Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, non-sporulating coccoid strains, designated ZLJ0423T and ZLJ0321, were isolated from the faeces of Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii). Their optimal temperature, NaCl concentration and pH for growth were 28°C, 0.5% (w/v) NaCl and pH 7.5, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strains ZLJ0423T and ZLJ0321 were very similar to each other (99.8%) and had a sequence similarity of 97.0% with Georgenia satyanarayanai NBRC 107612T and Georgenia subflava CGMCC 1.12782T. Phylogenomic analysis based on 688 core genes indicated that these strains formed a clade with G. satyanarayanai NBRC 107612T and Georgenia wutianyii Z294T. The predominant cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0, anteiso-C15:1 A and C16:0. The major menaquinone was MK-8(H4). The cell-wall amino acids consisted of alanine, lysine, glycine and aspartic acid, with lysine as the diagnostic diamino acid. Diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol mannosides and two unidentified lipids formed the polar lipid profile. The DNA G + C content of both isolates was 73.9 mol%. The digital DNA–DNA hybridization value between strains ZLJ0423T and ZLJ0321 was 91.2%, but their values with closely related species and other available type strains of the genus Georgenia were lower than the 70% threshold. On the basis of polyphasic taxonomic data, strains ZLJ0423T and ZLJ0321 represent a novel species within the genus Georgenia, for which the name Georgenia faecalis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is ZLJ0423T (= CGMCC 1.13681T = JCM 33470T).

Effect of Gas Sensing Properties by Sn-Rh Codoped ZnO Nanosheets

        Ziwei Chen,Zhidong Lin,Mengying Xu,Yuyuan Hong,Na Li,Ping Fu,Ze Chen 대한금속·재료학회 2016 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.12 No.3

The hierarchically porous Sn-Rh codoped ZnO, Sn-doped ZnO and pureZnO nanosheets have been successfully synthesized through a simplehydrothermal reaction process without any surfactant or template at 180°C. The morphology and composition were carefully characterized by X-raydiffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer, field emission scanningelectronic microscopy and BET. The gas-sensing testing results indicatedthat the Sn-Rh codoped ZnO nanosheets, with the specific surface area was26.9 m2/g, exhibited enhanced gas-sensing performance compared withthat of pure ZnO and Sn-doped ZnO. The high sensitivity of the sensorbased on Sn-Rh codoped ZnO was 149.38 to 100 ppm ethanol and thedetection limit was less than 5 ppm (5.8). The response and recovery timeswere measured to be ~3 s and ~10 s when exposed to 100 ppm ethanol atthe test temperature of 300°C. The good sensing performance of the Sn-Rhcodoped ZnO sensor indicated that hierarchically porous Sn-Rh codopedZnO could be a promising candidate for highly sensitive gas sensors.

Isolation and characterization of tick-borne Roseomonas haemaphysalidis sp. nov. and rodent-borne Roseomonas marmotae sp. nov.

        Zhu Wentao,Zhou Juan,Lu Shan,Yang Jing,Lai Xin-He,Jin Dong,Pu Ji,Huang Yuyuan,Liu Liyun,Li Zhenjun,Xu Jianguo 한국미생물학회 2022 The journal of microbiology Vol.60 No.2

Four novel Gram-negative, mesophilic, aerobic, motile, and cocci-shaped strains were isolated from tick samples (strains 546T and 573) and respiratory tracts of marmots (strains 1318T and 1311). The 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that strains 546T and 573 were 97.8% identical to Roseomonas wenyumeiae Z23T, whereas strains 1311 and 1318T were 98.3% identical to Roseomonas ludipueritiae DSM 14915T. In addition, a 98.0% identity was observed between strains 546T and 1318T. Phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses revealed that strains 546T and 573 clustered with R. wenyumeiae Z23T, whereas strains 1311 and 1318T grouped with R. ludipueritiae DSM 14915T. The average nucleotide identity between our isolates and members of the genus Roseomonas was below 95%. The genomic G+C content of strains 546T and 1318T was 70.9% and 69.3%, respectively. Diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) were the major polar lipids, with Q-10 as the predominant respiratory quinone. According to all genotypic, phenotypic, phylogenetic, and phylogenomic analyses, the four strains represent two novel species of the genus Roseomonas, for which the names Roseomonas haemaphysalidis sp. nov. and Roseomonas marmotae sp. nov. are proposed, with 546T (= GDMCC 1.1780T = JCM 34187T) and 1318T (= GDMCC 1.1781T = JCM 34188T) as type strains, respectively.
