        Further on HUANG Zong-xi’s Conception of Philosophical History in Ming Dynasty

        《明儒學案》是深具中國特質的學案體斷代哲學史, 在“中國哲學史學”的歷史上有着重要的里程碑意義。其中“道非一家之私”、“聖賢血脈散諸百家”、“殊途百慮”等精彩的哲學史觀, 已經吐露出了近代學術平等與學術民主的思想霞光。整部著作以儒學爲大本, 以心學爲主線, 淸晳地勾勒了有明一代儒家哲學發展的脈絡, 體現了“功夫著到”與“竭其心之万殊”的知性認識與理性闡發的過程。對此的揭示, 不僅有着哲學史學的意義, 更可由此上探黃宗羲的學統重建的努力及其具有經世品格的政治倫理思考。 Ming-ru Xue-an is the philosophical history for the Ming Dynasty, which embodies Chinese nature and has great contribution to the history of Chinese history’s study. In this book, “Tao is not owned by one school or somebody”, “Sage’s spirit is scattered into schools”, “thinking through many ways” etc. such splendid viewpoints bring forth academic equality and democracy of modern times. By the famous work, HUANG Zong-xi created the Ming-philosophical-history development process, which poached in a way that Confucius is the main-stone, ideology is the main-steam. Such framework shows scholars reason spirit in their efforts, so-called “to take on”, “to disclose the different aspects of minds”. All these purchase, not only means much to the philosophical history study, but shows us another way to analyze HUANG Zong-xi’s political-ethical thoughts about reconstruction of the Scholar-orthodoxy etc. [Article in Chinese]

        C-Type Natriuretic Peptide/Natriuretic Peptide Receptor 2 Is Involved in Cell Proliferation and Testosterone Production in Mouse Leydig Cells

        Purpose: This study investigated the role of natriuretic peptide receptor 2 (NPR2) on cell proliferation and testosterone secre-tion in mouse Leydig cells.Materials and Methods: Mouse testis of different postnatal stages was isolated to detect the expression C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) and its receptor NPR2 by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Leydig cells isolated from mouse testis were cultured and treated with shNPR2 lentiviruses or CNP. And then the cyclic guanosine mono-phosphate production, testosterone secretion, cell proliferation, cell cycle and cell apoptosis in mouse Leydig cells were ana-lyzed by ELISA, RT-qPCR, Cell Counting Kit-8, and flow cytometry. Moreover, the expression of NPR2, cell cycle, apoptosis proliferation and cell cycle related gene were detected by RT-qPCR and Western blot. Results: Knockdown of NPR2 by RNAi resulted in S phase cell cycle arrest, cell apoptosis, and decreased testosterone secre-tion in mouse Leydig cells.Conclusions: Our study provides more evidences to better understand the function of CNP/NPR2 pathway in male reproduc-tion, which may help us to treat male infertility.

        Fabrication and Characterization of Copper-Exchanged BK7 Waveguides

        In this paper, we report fabrication of a copper-exchanged optical planar waveguide in BK7 glass by using ion exchange with ZnCl$_2$+Cu$_2$Cl$_2$ as ion source. The measured loss of the fabricated waveguides was as low as about 0.36 db/cm. The waveguides can hold 2 -- 4 modes with 5- to 30-minute exchange and 1 mode with 2- or 3-minute exchanges. The effective refractive index of each mode was determined by using the m-line test system at a wavelength of 0.65 $\mu$m. In addition, the cubic spline function interpolation method was employed to recover the gradient refractive index profiles of the copper-containing waveguides. The study on the annealing process for copper-exchanged waveguide is also discussed

        A New Method for Separating Temperature Effect of Bridge Strain Monitoring

        Temperature has a significant influence on bridge strain monitoring data. To improve the accuracy of temperature effect separation in strain monitoring data, this paper proposes a temperature effect separation method comprising variational nonlinear chirp mode decomposition (VNCMD), principal component analysis (PCA) and blind source separation. Firstly, VNCMD was used to decompose the monitoring data of strain and temperature, and the intrinsic mode functions (IMF) of strain and temperature signals were obtained. Secondly, PCA was used to reduce the dimension of IMF, and the false components were eliminated to select the optimal components. After reducing the dimension, the components were used as the input of fast independent component analysis model for blind source separation. Finally, the feasibility and accuracy of the method was verified via the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the simulated signal, and the separation results were evaluated using the Pearson correlation coefficient between the strain component and the corresponding temperature component in real bridge monitoring data. The proposed method performed better than the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of VNCMD improved 51.80% for daily temperature difference effect and 32.41% for annual temperature difference effect in the numerical study, respectively; the correlation coefficients of VNCMD improved 52.90% for daily temperature difference effect and 4.26% for annual temperature difference effect in practical verification, respectively.

        Magnetic field effects on the electric modulus properties of nematic mixture E7

        The molecular dynamics of the homogeneously aligned nematic liquid crystal mixture E7 subject to a magnetic field has been studied. The dielectric spectra study has revealed a low bias magnetic field effect on the evolution of dielectric relaxation spectra occurred at lower (wkHz) (d-relaxation) and higher (wMHz) (a-relaxation) frequency regions. The complex electric modulus, which converted from experimental dielectric spectra, has been analyzed with theoretical model of Debye relaxation. The obtained fitting parameters of relaxation time and strength of dielectric components are shown to vary systematically with the strength of applied magnetic field. A microscopic molecular dynamic model has been proposed to describe the two-step variation of E7 molecular under the bias magnetic field. The results provide implication for magneto-modulation of liquid crystal molecular dynamics under the bias magnetic field.

        Clonal Spread of Carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii ST92 in a Chinese Hospital during a 6-Year Period

        The carbapenem resistance rate of Acinetobacter baumannii in our hospital has increased steadily since 2004. The molecular epidemiology of carbapenem resistant A. baumannii (CRAB) clinical isolates was characterized by multilocus sequence typing (MLST) and rep-PCR in parallel, with pandrug susceptible A. baumannii (PSAB) used as control. MLST was performed to determine the sequence types (STs), and eBURST algorithm was used to analyze their relatedness. Carbapenem resistance related genes (oxa-23, oxa-24, oxa-51, oxa-58, imp, vim, and adeB) were screened using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method. 23 STs were identified in the 65 included isolates, with ST92 being the predominant clone. PSAB clustered into more singletons than CRAB. The positivity of oxa-23 and adeB correlated with high level carbapenem resistance (MICIPM>32 mg/L, MICMEM >32 mg/L) of CRAB ST92 isolates in 2009, which was different from the resistance pattern (MICIPM≤4 mg/L, 8 mg/L ≤MICMEM≤16 mg/L) of CRAB ST92 isolates in 2004. These observations suggest that clonal spread of CRAB ST92 isolates longitudinally is the possible reason for carbapenem resistance rate increase and correlate with high level carbapenem resistance in our hospital.

        Effects of three main sugars in cane molasses on the production of butyric acid with Clostridium tyrobutyricum

        The effects of three main sugars in cane molasses were investigated systematically to prepare a cost-effective medium for butyric acid bioproduction. Additionally, 30 g/L corn steep liquor was screened out as the suitable nitrogen source. In the batch fermentation of free cells, when 60 g/L glucose was the only carbon source, 21.28 g/L butyric acid was achieved after 30 h cultivation. Similar product concentration, productivity and yield were obtained when 60 g/L fructose was applied. The utilization of sucrose would bring about lower productivity (0.29 g/L·h) and product concentration (18.15 g/L), but the yield of butyric acid/sucrose (0.34 g/g) is almost the same as that from glucose or fructose (0.35 g/g). Finally, the sugar mixture (15 g/L glucose, 20 g/L fructose and 35 g/L sucrose) was employed to produce butyric acid in a fibrous-bed bioreactor (FBB), and 40.11 g/L butyric acid was produced with one simple fed-batch strategy.

        Direct Torque Control of PMSM Based on Fractional Order Sliding Mode Variable Structure and Experiment Research

        A direct torque control method based on fractional order sliding mode variable structure (DTC-FOSMVS) was proposed for the speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The proposed method in which the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) with fixed switch frequency is applied, reduces the torque and flux ripple, and improves the speed control performance. In order to improve the energy efficiency and reduce the demagnetization effect, the DTC-FOSMVS method with dynamic flux reference was designed. The stability of the control method is proved by Lyapunov theory. The performance of the proposed method is verified through experiment which is based on hardware in loop and Simulink/QuaRC real time control software. The experiment results show the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed method.

      • Prognostic Role of Circulating Tumor Cells in Patients with Pancreatic Cancer: a Meta-analysis

        Background: Isolation and characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in patients suffering from a variety of different cancers have become hot biomarker topics. In this study, we evaluated the prognostic value of CTCs in pancreatic cancer. Materials and Methods: Initial literature was identified using Medline and EMBASE. The primary data were hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of survival outcomes, including overall survival (OS) and progression free survival/recurrence free survival (PFS/RFS). Results: A total of 9 eligible studies were included in this meta-analysis, published between 2002 and 2013. The estimated pooled HR and 95%CI for OS for all studies was 1.64 (95%CI 1.39-1.94, p<0.00001) and the pooled HR and 95%CI for RFS/DFS was 2.36 (95%CI 1.41-3.96, p<0.00001). The HRs and 95%CIs for OS and RFS/DFS in patients before treatment were 1.93 (95%CI 1.26-2.96, p=0.003) and 1.82 (95%CI 1.22-2.72, p=0.003), respectively. In patients receiving treatment, the HRs and 95%CI for OS and RFS/DFS were 1.37 (95%CI 1.00-1.86, p=0.05) and 1.89 (95%CI 1.01-3.51, p=0.05), respectively. Moreover, the pooled HR and 95%CI for OS in the post-treatment group was 2.20 (95%CI 0.80-6.02, p=0.13) and the pooled HR for RFS/DFS was 8.36 (95%CI 3.22-21.67, p<0.0001). Conclusions: The meta-analysis provided strong evidence supporting the proposition that CTCs detected in peripheral blood have a fine predictive role in pancreatic patients especially on the time point of post-treatment.
