        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Steganography, a form of data hiding, embeds secret data into digital media for the purpose of identification, annotation, and copyright. We propose a high capacity image steganography based on E. Kawaguch's method. It embeds secret data to some LSBs and selectively embed MSBs with the complexity measure. In the experiment, it presents that our scheme improves the maximum capacity by 11,008 byte, compared with E. Kawaguch's. It also shows that about 4dB improvement in PSNR when the same amount of data is inserted.

        The algorithm visualization means the pictorial representations of program structure, algorithm and data structure. That is useful for the program testing and education of data structures and algorithms. JAWAA is a simple command language for creating animations of data structures and displaying them with a web browser. In this research, we can automatically store in a script file the command by which user draw own graphs using user interface and run by the JAWAA applet and selected Algorithm when the applet's web page is accessed through the web.

      • 출발원료 Si 분말의 입자크기에 따른 질화반응 Si₃N₄의 특성변화

        Size effect of raw-Si powder on the property of reaction-bonded silicon nitride was investigated by the use of Si powders with different particle sizes containing various native oxide SiO2 contents. The different secondary phases were formed at each specimens resction-sintered with different particle sizes, due to the content difference in native oxide on the surface layer of particles. The specimens prepared by using coarse powders couldn't even attain high density in high temperature gas-pressure sintering, because of the abnormal growth of elongated β-Si3N4 grains owing to the insufficiency and the inhomogeneous distribution in liquid phase contents. On the other hand, the specimens using fine powders showed high density because of melting of the secondary oxynitride phase. As a result, the content and distribution of liquid phase become appropriate, and then the transformation to β-phase uniformly occurs in the specimen at the same time. Thus the increase in density and fracture strength was shown. Higher values of fracture strength and hardness were obtained in the specimens using fine powders, however, the specimens using coarse powders showed higher value of fracture toughness due to the development of large elongated grains.

        Dense Ce0 8Gd0 2O19 ceramics were prepared with commercially available powders by the spark plasma sintering method A higher density could be obtained at a lower temperature and shorter dwelling time The densification behavior was compared with conventionally sintered samples Dense Ce0 8Gd0 2O19 ceramics with 96% of the theoretical density could be obtained by the spark plasma sintering technique at 1200 C for 5min, whereas conventional sintering needed to be sintered at 1550 Cfor 5hr in order to obtain an equivalent theoretical density.

        정신분열병 환자에서 얼굴 영상의 작동기억 장애 : 기능자기공명영상연구

        Objectives : Impaired processing of facial information is one of the broad ranges of cognitive deficits seen in patients with Schi-zophrenia. We aimed to elucidate the differences in brain activities involved in the process of facial working memory between schizophrenic patients and healthy comparison subjects. Methods : Twelve patients with schizophrenia were recruited along with twelve demographically matched healthy volunteers as a comparison group. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to assess cortical activities during the Perfor-mance of a 2-back working memory paradigm using images of neutral faces as mnemonic content. Rcsults : The patient group performed the tasks with reduced accuracy. Group analysis revealed that the left fusiform gyrus, the right superior frontal gyrus, the bilateral middle frontal gyri/insula, the left middle temporal gyrus, the precuneus, the quadrangular lobules and the vermis of cerebellum showed decreased cortical activities in the patient group. On the other hand, an increased level of activation in the lateral prefrontal cortex and the pahetal lobule was observed from the patient group, all in the right hemisphere. Conulusion : A decreased level of activity in the left fusiform gyrus among the patient group implicates inefficient processing of facial information. An increased level of activation in prefrontal and parietal neural networks from the patient group confirms earlier findings on the impaired working memory of patients with schizophrenia.

      • High-energy ball milling process에 의해 제조된 Ga₂0₃첨가 Ce_(0.8)Gd_(0.2)O_(1.9) 세라믹스의 전기적특성

        The electrical property of Ga₂0₃-added Ce_(0.8)Gd_(0.2)O_(1.9) ceramics was investigated. The gadolinia-doped ceria powders were prepared by the high-energy ball milling process using commercially available powders. Dense Ce_(0.8)Gd_(0.2)O_(1.9) ceramics with 97% of the theoretical density could be obtained by sintering of the milled mixture with 0.5 mol% Ga₂0₃ addition at 1250℃ for 5 h. Total conductivity of 0.5 mol% Ga₂0₃-added specimen showed the maximum conductivity of 2.88x10^(-3) Ω^(-1)·cm^(-1) at 500℃. Pure Ce_(0.8)Gd_(0.2)O_(1.9) ceramics needed to be sintered at 1600℃ in order to obtain an equivalent theoretical density and conductivity. Introduction of high-energy ball milling process and Ga₂0₃ doping had a good effect on the electrical conductivity of gadolinia-doped ceria.

        Free carrier effects on the absorption and photoluminescence spectra were widely investigated in p-and n-type modulation-doped GaAs-AlGaAs quantum wells at pulsed high magnetic fields up to 40T. The optical spectra were obtained as a function of temperature and magnetic field. For p-type MDQW, the lowest heavy hole exciton peak was unobservable in the absorption spectra at low temperatures. However, the heavy hole exciton peak appears and grows as the temperature or the magnetic field increases. The threshold field B??? is dependent on L?? and p. Also, the Stokes shift was found to increase as the magnetic field is increased, and it was explained by the magnetic field effect on the exciton wavefunction size. For n-type MDQW, we have concentrated on the identification of a well-resolved sharp peak seen at the absorption and PL spectra at low temperatures. It has been demonstrated that a sharp peak is caused by the Fermi edge singularity similar to the many-body effects in the soft X-ray spectra of metals. The singularity peak becomes weakened and broadened with increasing temperature, reflecting the broadening of the Fermi-Dirac electrons' distribution function. These results are one of the first observations of the Fermi edge singularity in semiconductor quantum wells.

        Digital watermarking, a concept of embedding a speclal pattern, uses an algorithm of inserting a watermark to protect the copyright of media. It has recently become Important in various application areas. A variety of watermark techniques have been proposed by many authors In the last several years. However, there are not enough analysis and comparison on the previous researches. In this paper, for the understanding of the previous works and the help for the future related research, we try to analyze and classify the conventional watermark techniques from the various points of view which are the class of inserted media category, the perceptlvity, the robustness, the inserting watermark type the processing domain, the necessity of an original media.
