Development of a MEMS-based Acceleration Sensing Module for Electronic Stability Program

This paper describes our development work for acceleration sensing modules for electronic stability program (ESP) systems. The MEMS-based accelerometer is fabricated using the unique sacrificial/bulk micromachining (SBM) process by us. The sensing module is designed to measure low level accelerations accurately and be stable in an automotive environment. This paper describes the accelerometer design and fabrication, electronic circuits and PCB design, module assembly, and performances of the developed sensing module. The developed sensing module offers analog voltage output with ±1.5g dynamic range, 0.05% non-linearity, 0.2mG resolution and l295㎷/g scale factor. The module includes a CAN2.0A interface and yields good experimental performances when implemented on a CAN test server.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A reversible red-yellow color change in PDA (polydiacetylene) was achieved by controlling the head group of the diacetylene molecules. Typical PDAs show blue-red color transitions, and this reversible red-yellow color transition could be applied to various sensing applications. The introduction of an alkyl substituent to the head group as an internal stimulus resulted in a primary blue-red color change, and this change became clearer as the length of the alkyl chain became longer. The PDA vesicle, once colored red in response to an internal stimulus, showed a reversible and very selective red-yellow color change in response to a second external stimulus, such as temperature or pH.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A reversible red-yellow color transition of PDAs was achieved by alkyl chain induced PCDA-Oct. </LI> <LI> Stepwise blue-red-yellow color changes are suggested through internal and external stimuli. </LI> <LI> Both temperature and pH sensing were successfully performed using modified PCDA-Oct. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

This paper presents design, fabrication and measurement of a high resolution digital microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer system IC. This system IC consists of a MEMS sensing element and a high resolution digital readout circuit. The MEMS sensing element is fabricated using the sacrificial/bulk micromachining (SBM) process. In order to protect the sensing element from environmental changes, wafer level hermetic packaging(WLHP) process is performed. The developed readout circuit offers 32-bit resolution using an 1-bit, 4th-order ΣΔ modulator and a digital decimator/demodulator. The proposed system IC provides a 128-㎐, 32-bit digital output with ±5g dynamic range, 0.52% nonlinearity, and 1.6*10? count/g scale factor.

In this paper, we will present an inductive torque sensor development which could be preferably used in EPS systems. This torques sensor has capability of both input and output side rotary positions sensing with resolution of 0.005deg/0.01deg respectively. Differential angle between two rotating shaft linked by a torsion-bar can be calculated simply using two angle signals by the ECU. Digital output protocol “SENT” interface applied to strengthen noise performance in an automotive environment and diagnosis capability. For redundancy, the torque sensor consists of two sensors which can independently measure both input shaft and output shaft angles. The two sensors are electrically isolated from each other with their own power supply, ASIC, excitation and receiver coils. That means altogether four angles are measured whereby two angles are transmitted via each SENT signal line. This redundancy allows the ECU to crosscheck the signals to be able to detect faults inside the sensor or the wiring harness. Due to its both side angle measurement principle, the most critical performance parameter is a ripple which means output variation with 0-torque input during 360deg rotation. And the ripple parameter can be understood as superposition of offset error, low frequency ripple(LFR), high frequency ripple(HFR) and random noise. Averaged ripple measured from the developed sensors are to be 0.002deg offset, 0.032deg LFR, 0.010deg HFR, which are sufficiently acceptable for stable control of EPS system and good feeling for drivers.
Safeguards Distinction in Water-Cooled SMRs

Small modular reactors (SMRs) are getting attention as an alternative to fossil fuel power stations due to versatile application and carbon dioxide reduction. Although various types of advanced reactors are being developed, water-cooled SMR will be first deployed on a commercial scale. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and regulatory bodies are trying to identify safeguards issues of water-cooled SMRs as the first priority. IAEA begins to develop a safeguards plan by asking for the facility’s specification in a given format, a design information questionnaire (DIQ). Then, IAEA periodically performs safeguards activities such as design information verification (DIV) and physical inventory verification (PIV). In this sense, we utilize research and power reactor DIQ for water-cooled SMRs (NuScale, SMART, i-SMR and KLT-40S). Most of the questions are answered with open information. For undisclosed answers, pressurized water reactor (PWR) features are described. Safeguards issues in water-cooled SMR originate from core modularization. As the nuclear material flows are diversified, the number of safeguards measure will be increased while staff are reduced in SMRs. Instrumentation for safeguards should be developed to reduce worker’s fatigue level. Intensive arrangement of fuel assemblies may also need unique devices to secure their visibility or detectability. A transparent floor with a surveillance system or advanced Cherenkov viewing device may be adopted to enhance containment and surveillance. Meanwhile, some questions could be more elaborate regarding safeguards. First, question #38 cannot confirm the time of occurrence of weapon-grade plutonium for reactor operation. Second, the answers in questions #46 and #49 are primitive to identify a place to generate an undeclared fissile material. Therefore, the current DIQ should be revised to get a detailed burnup report and spatial distribution of neutron flux.
보행자 이미지에서 지역 다중규모 특징 임베딩 추출을 위한 어텐션 피라미드 이용의 보행자 재식별

In this paper, a person re-identification scheme using the dual pyramid adapting attention mechanisms to extract more elaborate local feature embedding by excluding the noises caused by the unnecessary backgrounds in person’s image is proposed. With the dual pyramid of local and scale ones, the spatial attention is used to suppress the noise effects caused by unnecessary backgrounds, and the channel attention is used to emphasize the relatively important multiscale features when the local feature embedding is constructed. In the experiments, the proposed scheme was compared with other cases in which the attention module is not used for each pyramid to confirm the optimal configuration and compared based on the rank-1 accuracy with the state-of-the-art studies for the person re-identification. According to the experimental results, the proposed method showed a maximum rank-1 accuracy of 99.4%, which is higher by at least about 0.2% and at most by about 13.8% than previous works.

약 본 논문에서는 작성중인 기술문서에 대해 기존 문서 데이터베이스내의 원본문서들과 유사도를 비교하여 일정기준 이상의 유사성을 갖는 문장을 포함하는 원본문서들의 서지정보를 모아 참고문헌 목록을 자동으로 작성해 주며 대상 문서의 해당 문장에는 참고문헌 인용부호를 부착할 수 있도록 지원하는 시스템을 소개한다. 또한 이러한 제안 내용을 토대로 하여 웹기반 시범 서비스 모델을 설계하고 이를 온라인 서비스로 실현하기 위한 프로토타입 시스템을 개발하였다. 개발된 시스템을 활용하여 기술문서 작성자에게 작성중인 기술문서에 대해 기 발표된 원본문서내의 유사 문장을 검색하고 이에 대한 참고문헌 인용부호를 부착할 수 있도록 지원함으로써 표절 문제를 선제적으로 예방하고 나아가 참고문헌 목록 생성 및 인용부호 자동부착 지원기능을 통해 논문 저술에 편리성을 확보할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다. In this paper, the design and implementation of an automatic reference-citation-mark attachment system are introduced. The system automatically attaches a citation mark to the end of a sentence in a technical document if the corresponding statement has a high similarity to another statement in the same document; simultaneously, the corresponding bibliographic data is automatically created from the cited-document information. In accordance with functional specifications, a Web-based, online service model and the development of its prototype system are proposed. The developed system can help in the elimination of unexpected plagiarism issues, and will alleviate the burdens of reference citation and reference-list creation for technical writers.
