To obtain more precise and rational calculation details of the loss and heat of a damper winding in a tubular hydro-generator, this study develops a three-dimensional, fi nite-element, electromagnetic-temperature fi eld close-coupling model of the damper winding. On the basis of multi-physical fi eld coupled theory, the model fully considers the temperature eff ects of the damper winding resistivities and heat conductivities, and the eddy current loss in the end region of the damper winding. The model was verifi ed by direct tests of the damper winding temperature. Unlike the conventional weak-coupling model, the proposed close-coupling model fully captures the interaction between the electromagnetic and temperature fi elds. Therefore, of the model more accurately and reasonably calculates the loss and heat of the damper winding than the conventional model. The proposed calculation model can properly assess the loss and heat of damper windings in large hydro-generators, which is helpful for improving the design standards of hydro-generators.
Energy-Efficient Antenna Selection in Green MIMO Relaying Communication Systems
Kun Qian,Wen-Qin Wang 한국통신학회 2016 Journal of communications and networks Vol.18 No.3
In existing literature on multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) relaying communication systems, antenna selection is oftenimplemented by maximizing the channel capacity or the outputsingle-to-noise ratio (SNR). In this paper, we propose an energyefficientlow-complexity antenna selection scheme for MIMO relayingcommunication systems. The proposed algorithm is basedon beamforming andmaximizing the Frobenius norm to jointly optimizethe transmit power, number of active antennas, and antennasubsets at the source, relaying and destination. We maximize theenergy efficiency between the link of source to relay and the linkof relay to destination to obtain the maximum energy efficiency ofthe system, subject to the SNR constraint. Compared to existingantenna selection methods forMIMO relaying communication systems, simulation results demonstrate that the proposedmethod cansave more power in term of energy efficiency, while having lowercomputational complexity.

A novel unsymmetrical diamine, 1,3-bis(4-aminophenoxy)naphthalene, was prepared through the nucleophilic displacement of 1,3-dihydroxynaphthalene with p-fluoronitrobenzene in the presence of potassium carbonate, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine. A series of novel aromatic polyimides containing bis(phenoxy)naphthalene units were synthesized from the unsymmetrical diamine and a range of aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides via the usual two-step procedures that included ring-opening polyaddition and thermal/chemical cyclodehydration. The poly(amic acid)s had inherent viscosities ranging from 0.65 to 2.01 dL/g. All the poly(amic acid)s could be converted thermally into transparent, flexible, and tough polyimide films. Most of the polyimides were soluble in organic solvents, such as dimethylacetamide, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, m-cresol, or ochlorophenol due to the unsymmetrical and bulky pendant naphthalene groups. The tensile strength and elongation at break of the polyimide films ranged from 74 to 97 MPa and 4 to 7%, respectively. These polyimides had glass transition temperatures ranging from 221 to 312 ºC. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed these polymers to be fairly stable up to 500 ºC, and the 10% weight loss temperature were recorded in the range of 531-580 ºC in nitrogen and 522-570 ºC in air. The substituted position effect of bis(phenoxy)naphthalene on the properties of the polyimides were investigated. The polyimides derived from unsymmetrical 1,3-substituted bis(4-aminophenoxy)naphthalene showed better solubility without sacrificing their thermal and mechanical properties due to the unsymmetrical and bulky pendant effects.
Reinforcement Learning enabled Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks
Wenli Ning,Xiaoyan Huang,Kun Yang,Fan Wu,Supeng Leng 한국통신학회 2020 Journal of communications and networks Vol.22 No.1
In cognitive radio (CR) networks, fast and accurate spectrumsensing plays a fundamental role in achieving high spectralefficiency. In this paper, a reinforcement learning (RL) enabled cooperativespectrum sensing scheme is proposed for the secondaryusers (SUs) to determine the scanning order of channels and selectthe partner for cooperative spectrum sensing. By applying Qlearningapproach, each SU learns the occupancy pattern of theprimary channels thus forming a dynamic scanning preference list,so as to reduce the scanning overhead and access delay. To improvethe detection efficiency in dynamic environment, a discounted upperconfidence bound (D-UCB) based cooperation partner selectionalgorithm is devised wherein each SU learns the time varying detectionprobability of its neighbors, and selects the one with the potentiallyhighest detection probability as the cooperation partner. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed cooperative spectrumsensing scheme achieves significant performance gain overvarious reference algorithms in terms of scanning overhead, accessdelay, and detection efficiency.

Background/Aims: Exacerbating factors of ulcerative colitis (UC) are multiple and complex with individual influence. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of disease control by searching and restricting inflammation trigger factors of UC relapse individually in daily clinical practice. Methods: Both patients with UC history or new diagnosis were asked to avoid dairy products at first doctor visit. Individual-reported potential trigger factors were restricted when UC flared up (Mayo endoscopy score ≥1) from remission status. The remission rate, duration to remission and medication were analyzed between the groups of factor restriction complete, incomplete and unknown. Results: The total remission rate was 91.7% of 108 patients with complete restriction of dairy product. The duration to remission of UC history group was significantly longer than that of new diagnosis group (88.5 days vs. 43.4 days, P=0.006) in patients with initial endoscopic score 2–3, but no difference in patients with score 1. After first remission, the inflammation trigger factors in 161 relapse episodes of 72 patients were multiple and personal. Milk/dairy products, herb medicine/Chinese tonic food and dietary supplement were the common factors, followed by psychological issues, non-dietary factors (smoking cessation, cosmetic products) and discontinuation of medication by patients themselves. Factor unknown accounted for 14.1% of patients. The benefits of factor complete restriction included shorter duration to remission (P<0.001), less steroid and biological agent use (P=0.022) when compared to incomplete restriction or factor unknown group. Conclusions: Restriction of dairy diet first then searching and restricting trigger factors personally if UC relapse can improve the disease control and downgrade the medication usage of UC patients in daily clinical practice.

Nasal-type extranodal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma (ENKL) is a highly invasive cancer with a poor prognosis. More effective and safer treatment regimens for ENKL are needed. Pegaspargase (PEG-Asp) has a similar mechanism of action to L-asparaginase (L-Asp), but presents lower antigenicity. The aim of the present research was to evaluate the safety profile and the latent efficacy of a PEG-Asp-based treatment regimen in patients with ENKL. Data collected from 20 patients with histologically confirmed ENKL, admitted to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University from January 2009 to August 2013, were included in the study. All patients received $2500IU/m^2$/IM PEG-Asp on day 1 of every 21-day treatment cycle. Patients received combination chemotherapy with CHOP (n=5), EPOCH (n=7), GEMOX (n=7) or CHOP with bleomycin (n=1). After 2-5 treatment cycles (median, 4 cycles) of PEG-Asp-based chemotherapy, five patients (25%) showed a complete response (CR), and the overall response rate (ORR) was 60%. Grade 3/4 neutropenia occurred in fourteen patients (70%). Grade 3 alanine aminotransferase (ALT) elevation was observed in two. Grade 1-2 non-hematological toxicity consisted of activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) elongation (n=9), hypofibrinogenemia (n=6), hypoproteinemia (n=17), hyperglycemia (n=3), and nausea (n=6). No allergic reactions were detected. No treatment related death was reported. Our results suggested that PEG-Asp-based chemotherapy presented an acceptable tolerance and a potential short-term outcome in patients with nasal-type ENKL.
