Objectives : We aimed to provide standard data of the individual tests in 7MS that could generalized for Korean elderly accor-ding to age and education. We also evaluated diagnostic efFicacy of each test in 7MS. Methods : Data on demographic characteristics of 311 normals were gathered for comparison. We also assessed two differences between normal and dementia group in individual tests of 7MS. Results : All individual tests of 7MS showed significant differences in sex, age, and education, except for ECR. But there were no significant differences in sex controlling age and education. As a result of ROC curve, the ability of the ECR test to discriminate between AD and normal subject appeared superior. The scores of the individual tests of 7MS among CDR 0.5 and 1 group and normal group were compared. It was also found that the ECR test stands out among 7MS tests. Conclusion : The 7MS, Particularly ECR, had the highest sensitivity and specificity for diagnosis of AD as well as early de-mentia. It suggests that the individual tests of 7MS are useful to predict early dementia, without using the complex logistic re-gression equation.

We intended to know that the result of color duplex ultrasonography corresponded to that nocturnal penile tumescence rigidity in the diagnosis of erctile dysfunction. We performed both color duplex ultrasonography and nocturnal penile tumescence rigidity in 15 erectile dysfunction men. Colr duplex ultrasonography was done with a 7 MHz. color Doppler unit after intracorporeal pharmacological injection and measured maximal arterail diameter, peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity and the results were compared with rigidity and tumescence in nocturnal penile tumescence rigidity using RigiScan. The positive predictive value, negative predictive value, sensitivity, specificity, overall accuracy of color duplex ultrasonography was reasonable when the result of color duplex ultrasonography was compared with the that of nocturnal penile tumescence rigidity. According to this results, color duplex ultrasonography could not only predict but also correspond to nocturnal penile tumescence. Therefore, we suggest that color duplex ultrasonography can relpace nocturnal penile tumescence rigidity if psychogenic and neurogenic erectile dysfunction are distinguished by history and neurologic examination.

In the past decade, damage due to typhoons on 2 or 3 scales on the Saffire-Simpson Scales is increasing. Considering the loss due to typhoon among damages under nature disasters reaches up to 58%, estimation and analysis of a typhoon`s influence has become essential. On this basis, features of typhoon-induced rainfall rates around Korea and the statistical models were presented in this paper by statical approach. In the models, typhoon was divided into four section considering that rainfall rate in a typhoon is affected by circumferential locations. Comparisons between the estimated rainfall rate of these models and the observed value in the duration of Typhoon NARI(2007) were analyzed to verify the availability of these models.

<P>With the acceleration of urbanization, impervious surface spreads due to increase of rainfall effluent; consequently, plenty of pollutants occur instantaneously, and severity of a problem caused by being worse of the river and water system is coming to the forefront. Nation Water Quality Inventory reported that 30% of the cause of water quality getting worse is caused by non-point pollutants, and 64% of the cause of polluted water quality of the lake around North Carolina is resulted from non-point pollutants of urban area. This study developed a system that treats and removes pollutants occurring in an impervious area of the urban district by using polymer media. Polymer media, made from polypropylene materials, has float ability and an irregular form. Also this study showed that polymer media has an excellent filtering function of pollutants due to porosity on the surface, and the increase of specific surface area, so that it has an excellent function to remove suspended solids (SS), organic materials and nutritive salts in effluent water on the road side. Treatment efficiency of pollutants in an impervious area of the urban district through application of polymer media to the site is 92.1% and average EMC of suspended solids (SS) is 19.74 mg/L. In addition, treatment efficiency of CODcr is 82.3%, and the efficiency of TN and TP is 50.4% and 73.9%, respectively.</P>
Optimal aspiration pressure level of suction pump for oocyte retrieval in IVF-ET

Objective: There is no conclusion on the optimal aspiration pressure level for oocyte retrieval in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS), and a variety of pressures between 100 and 200 mmHg are used, often based on manufacturers instructions. This study aims to evaluate the appropriate suction pump pressure for oocyte retrieval in terms of oocytes and embryos quality. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on a total of 211 COS cycles from September 2019 to December 2021 in a single tertiary center. The analysis was performed on patients who underwent COS for the purpose of infertility treatment. 110 cycles were included in the 120 mmHg pressure group and 101 cycles were included in the 150 mmHg pressure group. Age, AMH, antral follicle count (AFC), the proportion of ICSI, the number of retrieved oocytes, the number of MII oocytes, MII rate, degeneration rate on day 1 of culture, and the number of embryos on day 3 of culture was compared and analyzed between the two groups. Variables such as Age, AMH, and AFC that may affect the results were corrected using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: The number of retrieved oocytes was significantly higher in the 150 mmHg group compared to the 120 mmHg group (10.3 vs. 8.4, p=0.016). Neither the number of MII oocytes nor the MII rate was significantly different between the two groups (6.1 vs. 5.5, p=0.509 and 67.2% vs. 73.4%, p=0.437 respectively). The degeneration rate on day 1 of culture and the number of embryos on day 3 of culture were also not significantly different between the two groups (6.2% vs. 4.4%, p=0.282 and 5.7% vs. 4.7%, p=0.109 respectively). Conclusion: The aspiration pressure of 150mmHg had a significantly higher number of oocytes retrieved compared with the aspiration pressure of 120mmHg, but the oocyte quality and embryo quality were comparable. As the adenomyosis is diagnosed earlier, the menopause comes earlier

Objective: Heavy menstrual bleeding, dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain are the typical symptoms of adenomyosis. Although hysterectomy is the definitive treatment for adenomyosis, patients in their 40s usually want conservative treatment, waiting until menopause. Therefore, the timing of menopause is important in determining treatment options for adenomyosis. This study aims to evaluate whether the characteristics of adenomyosis correlates to the age at menopause. Methods: The medical records of 224 postmenopausal women who were diagnosed with adenomyosis at Seoul National University Hospital from November, 2016 to March, 2022 were retrospectively reviewed. 39 women who received chemotherapy and 92 women with uncertain age at menopause were excluded. 93 women were eligible for analysis. 201 postmenopausal women without history of chemotherapy were eligible for control. Menopause was defined as the absence of menstruation for consecutive 12 months. Adenomyosis was diagnosed by ultrasound, and the anteroposterior diameter(APD) of the uterus was measured. Simple linear regression analysis was performed to analyze the correlation between menopausal age and other factors. Results: Patients was diagnosed with adenomyosis at 44.28±6.04 years on average, and the mean APD was 5.75±1.25cm. Adenomyosis group experienced menopause significantly earlier than control group (50.58±4.52 years vs. 51.76±3.26 years, p = 0.011). Both APD (R<sup>2</sup> = 0.072, p=0.016) and the age at diagnosis of adenomyosis (R<sup>2</sup> = 0.516, p<0.001) were positively correlated with the age at menopause. Conclusion: Women with adenomyosis experienced menopause earlier, and there is a positive correlation between the age at menopause and diagnosis of adenomyosis.
