      • CAD Program for Simulation and Realization of Microstrip Tuner for Automated Noise Figure Measurements

        The noise parameters of microwave transistors are necessary for the design of low noise microwave amplifiers . An optimization method to determine these parameters has been presented [1] Noise figure F of the transistor must be measured far different values of the source admittance Ys by using a tuner . We have studied a tuner based on coupled symetric strips of equal lengths with one or two bonded wires [2]. In this paper, we present the results of simulations of such a device which enables to obtain different impedances in the considered frequency range .

        Design and Implementation of Direct Torque Control Based on an Intelligent Technique of Induction Motor on FPGA

        In this paper the hardware implementation of the direct torque control based on the fuzzy logic technique of induction motor on the Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is presented. Due to its complexity, the fuzzy logic technique implemented on a digital system like the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and microcontroller is characterized by a calculating delay. This delay is due to the processing speed which depends on the system complexity. The limitation of these solutions is inevitable. To solve this problem, an alternative digital solution is used, based on the FPGA, which is characterized by a fast processing speed, to take the advantage of the performances of the fuzzy logic technique in spite of its complex computation. The Conventional Direct Torque Control (CDTC) of the induction machine faces problems, like the high stator flux, electromagnetic torque ripples, and stator current distortions. To overcome the CDTC problems many methods are used such as the space vector modulation which is sensitive to the parameters variations of the machine, the increase in the switches inverter number which increases the cost of the inverter, and the artificial intelligence. In this paper an intelligent technique based on the fuzzy logic is used because it is allows controlling the systems without knowing the mathematical model. Also, we use a new method based on the Xilinx system generator for the hardware implementation of Direct Torque Fuzzy Control (DTFC) on the FPGA. The simulation results of the DTFC are compared to those of the CDTC. The comparison results illustrate the reduction in the torque and stator flux ripples of the DTFC and show the Xilinx Virtex V FPGA performances in terms of execution time.

      • Expansion of the Knockdown Resistance Frequency Map for Human Head Lice (Phthiraptera: Pediculidae) in the United States Using Quantitative Sequencing

        <P>Pediculosis is a prevalent parasitic infestation of humans, which is increasing due, in part, to the selection of lice resistant to either the pyrethrins or pyrethroid insecticides by the knockdown resistance (<I>kdr</I>) mechanism. To determine the extent and magnitude of the <I>kdr</I>-type mutations responsible for this resistance, lice were collected from 138 collection sites in 48 U.S. states from 22 July 2013 to 11 May 2015 and analyzed by quantitative sequencing. Previously published data were used for comparisons of the changes in the frequency of the <I>kdr</I>-type mutations over time. Mean percent resistance allele frequency (mean % RAF) values across the three mutation loci were determined from each collection site. The overall mean % RAF (±SD) for all analyzed lice was 98.3 ± 10%. 132/138 sites (95.6%) had a mean % RAF of 100%, five sites (3.7%) had intermediate values, and only a single site had no mutations (0.0%). Forty-two states (88%) had a mean % RAF of 100%. The frequencies of <I>kdr</I>-type mutations did not differ regardless of the human population size that the lice were collected from, indicating a uniformly high level of resistant alleles. The loss of efficacy of the Nix formulation (Prestige Brand, Tarrytown, NY) from 1998 to 2013 was correlated to the increase in <I>kdr</I>-type mutations. These data provide a plausible reason for the decrease in the effectiveness of permethrin in the Nix formulation, which is the parallel increase of <I>kdr</I>-type mutations in lice over time.</P>

      • P099 : A clinicohistopathologic study on the lesion resembling keratoacanthoma

        Background: Keratoacanthoma(KA) can be clinically differentiated with ease from other dermatoses. However its differential diagnosis can sometimes be difficult. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the diagnostic yield in submitting clinically diagnosed KA which showed solitary symmetric, firm, erythematous or skin-colored nodules. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 54 patients who received biopsy with clinical diagnosis of KA or with differential diagnosis and visited the department of dermatology from January 2004 to December 2013. Wecompared clinical and histopathologic diagnoses and analyzed the rate of concurrence. Results: 40.7% of patients were clinically assumed to have KAs but appeared to be some other diseases according to the histopathology test result. The mean age of the KA patients was 72.8 years. The ratio of male to female was 1:0.92. The KA patients were accounted for 0.07% of all new patients. The most lesions(84.0%) were sun exposure sites. The most common other disease was squamous cell carcinoma (55.2%), followed by basal cell carcinoma (20.7%), seborrheic keratosis (6.9%), verruca vulgaris (6.9%), pyogenic granuloma (3.4%), clear cell acanthoma (3.4%), bowen disease (3.4%). Conclusion: Lesions suggested to be KA need more examinations and lesions of atypical clinical appearances which cannot completely exclude the possibility of precancerous or malignant lesions are strongly recommended for skin biopsies.

        Background: Ingredients of cosmetics are able to pass in variable amount across the skin and generate adverse effects at given level of systemic exposure. Recently, cosmetic products are widely used even in adolescents and babies and the type and prevalence of cosmetic products for men are increasing prominently. Objectives: A database was created with person-oriented information regarding demographics of consumers and usage patterns for 72 kinds of cosmetics. Methods: We analyzed data from the online survey carried out 5 cities and 18,000 adults and adolescents comprising 908 males and 892 females ranged from 15 to 59 years completed the digital questionnaire. Results: - The average number of the cosmetic products which the participants use was 27.4 in women and 13.3 in men. The most commonly used products in men were shampoo, facial moisturizer and body cleanser. The use of base makeup and color makeup products of male respondents (21.7% and 32.3%, respectively) was reported to be quite higher than that of the past survey in other countries (0.5%). The average number of cosmetics for babies is 0.2 and the most commonly used products are lotion, shampoo and body cleanser. The teenagers use the average 24.1 cosmetic products and the commonly used ones in order are shampoo, lotion and hand cream. Conclusion: Our study provides valuable information on the usage pattern and exposure data of cosmetic products especially, in babies, teenagers and men

        다중 RFID의 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구

        본 논문은 유비쿼터스 시대의 주요기술인 다줌 RFID 수용에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 고찰하고 그 이용의 성공적인 확산을 위해 조기수용자와 일반수용자 집단별 차이를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하는 선험적 연구이다. 다중 RFID의 유용성. 적합성, 용이성, 상호작용성, 프라이버시 침해에 대한 우려가 주요변인으로 설정하여 조기수용자와 일반수용자간 인식의 차이와 각 집단별 채택의향에 영향을 미치는 변인들간의 관계를 규명하고자 했다. 이를 위해 서울지역의 20대, 30대, 40대의 남녀, 400명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 개혁성향 지수에 따라 조기수용자와 일반수용자 집단으로 나누어 그 차이를 알아보았다. 조기수용자는 일반수용자보다 유용성, 적합성, 용이성, 상호작용성, 프라이버시 우려에 대해 더 높게 동의하는 것으로 나타났다. 조기수용자의 채택에 영향을 미치는 변인들은 상호작용성, 유용성, 용이성의 순으로 나타났고 일반 수용자의 채택에 영향을 미치는 변인들은 유용성, 용이성, 상호작용성의 순으로 나타났다. 적합성과 프라이버시에 대한 우려는 채택에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study is to explore the range of variables that might affect usage intention of muiti-RFID as the important component of ubiquitous context and to examine the difference between the early adopter and late adopter for successful diffusion in terms of its usage intention. From the literature review, five variables were established to be related to usage intention of multi-RFID: perceived usefulness, compatibility, ease of use, interactivity, and concern of privacy. The data for this study were obtained from a survey conducted in Seoul area. A sample of 400 adults was drawn from the age of 20, 30, and 40s and divided into the early adopter and late adopter groups by the innovation index. The early adopter group more highly agrees with perceived usefulness, compatibility, ease of use, interactivity, and concern of privacy than the late adopter group. While interactivity, perceived usefulness, and ease of use are ranked to be significantly related to usage intention in the early adopter group, perceive usefulness, ease of use, and interactivity are ranked to be significantly related to usage intention in the late adopter group. Compatibility and concern of privacy did not reliably contribute to explaining usage intention of multi-RFID.
