      • Combination Effects of Essential Oils from Thymus species with Norfloxacin against Streptococcus pneumoniae

        The combination effects of essential oils from Thymus quinquecostatus and T. magnus with norfloxacin were evaluated against three strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae. The checkerboard titer test results demonstrated significant combined effects of norfloxacin and the two Thymus oils or thymol, the main component of this oil, against the susceptible and resistant strains of S. pneumoniae, with FICIs ranging from 0.14 to 1.00. Additionally, the anti-Streptococcus effects of the oils were dose-dependent on Tryptic soy agar plates containing 5% defibrinated sheep blood.

        Presurgical Naso-Alveolar Molding Appliance for Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate

        본 연구의 목적은 1)편측성 순구개열 신생아 환자에 대한 술전 비치조 정형장치(PNAM)치료를 소개하고 2) 이 장치의 치조골 정형 효과를 평가하는 것이다. 서울대학교 병원 교정과에 내원하여 PNAM장치를 사용하여 치료받은 4명의 편측성 순구개열 호나자(남자 3명, 여자 1명, 평균 초진연령: 23.2일)을 대상으로 하였으며, 치조골에서 대분절과 소분절 파열부간의 평균거리는 8.27mm였고 치조골 정형치료의 평균기간은 9.7주였다. 초진시(Ti)와 성공적인 치조골 정형술이 이루어진 시기(T2)에 이들 환자의 인상을 채득하여 모형을 제작한 후, 사진촬영과 digital caliper를 사용하여 7개의 길이 항목과 5개의 각도항목을 계측하였다. SPSS win. ver 7.5프로그램을 사용하여 통계처리 하였고, 평균치의 차이를 비교하기 위하여 paired t-test를 사용하였다. 1. 신생아 치조골 후방부는 치조골 정형술을 시행하는 동안 안정된 구조물이었다. 2. 치조골 정형술에 의하여 대분절의 전방 성장이 억제되었다. 3. 치조골 정형술에 의한 파열부의 패쇄는 주로 대분절 전방부의 내측과 후방 굴곡 및 소분절 전체의 외측 굴곡에 의한 것이었다. The goals of this study were to present presurgical naso-alveolar molding(PNAM) appliance in unilaterla cleft lip and palate treatment and to evaluate the effects of PNAM appliance on alveolar molding. Samples were consisted of 4 unilateral cleft lip and palate infants(3 males and 1 female, mean age=23.2 days after birth) who were treated with PNAM appliances in Department of Orthodontics, Seoul National University Dental Hospital. Average alveolar cleft gap between the greater and lesser segment was 8.27 mm and average duration of alveolar molding treatment was 9.7 weeks. These patients' models were obtained at initial visit(T1) and after successful alveolar molding(T2). Seven linear and five angular variables were measured by using photometry and digital caliper. All statistical analyses were performed by SPSS win ver. 7.5 program. Paired t-test was used to compare the mean values. 1. The posterior part of alveolar segments are the stable structures during alveolar molding treatment period in infants. 2. Forward growth of th greater segment may be hindered by the action of alveolar molding. 3. The closure of cleft gap during alveolar molding were usually due to inward and backward bending of the anterior part of the greater segment and outward bending of the whole lesser segment.

        On this Study, it conducts the Standards investigation about air leakage of Buildings for performance improvement of Smoke control in Fire. In domestic standards, it is incomplete the Criteria standards of air leakage. Therefore it is considered that won’t limit the smoke spread due to stack effect. But in the case of the United States, it conducts the Hot smoke air-Leakage test and it consider that can prevent the Smoke Spread in Compartment.

        강원남부 폐광지역 개발기금 사업의 경제적 효과 : 2001~2021년간의 기금사업을 중심으로

        본 논문은 2001년부터 2021년 기간의 강원남부 폐광지역 4개 시군을 대상으로 전개된 폐광지역개발기금 투자의 경제적 파급효과를 실증적으로 분석함을 목적으로 한다. 이 기간 동안 연차별 투자 건수 1,220개로 구성된 691개의 재원 사업이 이행되었다. 분석대상 기간 동안 연차별로 투자된 재원의 합계는 총 1조 6,180.5억원이며, 지역산업연관분석을 통해 실증적으로 경제적 파급효과를 도출하는 것이 본고의 목적이다. 폐광지역개발기금의 투자금액의 면에서 보면, 대체로 생산유발효과가 상대적으로 낮은 3차산업 부문에 대한 재원의 비중이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 다른 한편으로 고려해야 할 점은 3차산업 부문의 취업유발효과가 이 지역에서 타 산업에 비해 높다는 점이다. 이러한 산업구조적 특성을 토대로 향후 폐광지역개발기금 사업의 경제적 효과를 최적화시키기 위해서는 유발계수 값의 분포를 고려한 재원의 배분 계획을 마련할 필요가 있다. 본고의 추정결과는 향후 폐광지역 개발기금의 합리적인 배분을 위한 실증적 기초 자료로서의 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다. This study aimed to analyze the economic effects of the closed mine area development fund on the southern part of the Gangwon provinces during the period 2001~2021. In this time frame, 691 financial projects comprising 1,220 items in the annual base were carried out and the total amount of investment was 1,618.05 billion Won. The main goal of this study was to derive empirical evidence about the economic effect of this fund through the regional industrial input-output tables. An analysis of the distribution of financial resources available to the specific fields revealed that the portion of funds invested in the tertiary industry sector has a low production inducement effect, which was not comparable with other industries. However, the movement of the employment inducement coefficient of tertiary industries led by the services sector in this area is comparatively high. Based on the regional character of the industrial structure, it is necessary to make a deliberate funds distribution plan taking the movement of the above inducement coefficients into consideration, to optimize the economic effect of the closed mine area development fund. The empirical output derived from this study would assist policymakers in establishing an effective distribution strategy for the closed mine area development fund in the future.

        Identification and characterization of Metarhizium majus isolated from the edible insect Protaetia brevitarsis in Korea

        Edible insects are considered novel protein sources, and the edible insect breeding industry is growing rapidly. However, fungal pathogens are a major threat to this industry, and appropriate identification of causative agents is important for the development of antifungal agents. In 2019, strains of the fungal pathogen Metarhizium were isolated from infected second and third instar larvae of the economically important edible insect Protaetia brevitarsis, which were collected from separate farms in Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea. Based on morphological characteristics and multilocus phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer region, and 50-region of gene encoding the 1-α elongation factor, the fungal strains were identified as Metarhizium majus. Here, we report the detailed phylogenetic characteristics and morphological description of this species, which is prevalent in Korea. Identification of the principal disease-causing agent can help develop disease prevention and antifungal strategies for application in edible insect-rearing farms.

        ‘경영인의 지혜(Managerial Wisdom)’ 습득을 위한 SSWB 모델의 효과성 연구

        [연구목적] 본 연구는 SSWB 모델을 실제 경영학습현장에 대입하기 위해 개발된 프로그램을 소개하고 SSWB 모델의 효과성을 검증하고자 함을 목적으로 한다. [연구방법] 본 연구는 연구자가 근무하고 있는 서울소재 K와 S대학의 책임경영, 기업윤리, 그리고 리더십 수강생 110명을 대상으로 2019년 가을학기에 시행되었다. 측정 도구는 연구자가 개발한 ‘경영인의 지혜’ 이며 사전 사후 검사를 위해 SPSS 25를 활용하여 대응표본 t검증을 실시하였다. [연구결과] 본 연구를 통해 경영인의 지혜에 대한 7개의 하위요인인 고차지식, 자기성찰, 앎의 욕구, 영성 및 초월, 공감, 모순인지 모두 통계적으로 유의미하게 분석되었다. 즉, SSWB 모델을 활용한 프로그램은 경영인의 지혜 수준을 향상시키며 따라서 본 모델의 효과성은 입증되었다. [연구의 시사점] 본 연구는 지금까지의 지혜 학습에 관련된 연구가 관념적인 논증을 거치거나 인터뷰를 통한 질적 연구에 국한되어 있었던 데 반해 실제 양적인 측정을 시도하였다는 것에 큰 의미가 있다. 게다가, 국내 최초로 경영인의 지혜를 개념화하고 측정 도구와 프로그램을 개발한 연구자가 직접 프로그램의 효과성을 검증했다는 것에서도 그 의의를 찾아볼 수 있다. 이는 연구의 방향과 흐름의 일관됨은 물론 같은 주제의 맥락을 하나로 집결시켜 정확한 연구의 본질에 충실할 수 있었음을 의미한다. 또한, 본 연구의 결과로 볼 때 지혜 학습의 가능성이 타당화되었다. 이는 추상적으로 여겨졌던 지혜의 학문적 진입은 물론, 실천적 대입에 대한 촉발제가 되었다는 점에서도 큰 의의를 지닌다. [Purpose] The purpose of this study is to first introduce the program developed to apply the SSWB model to the actual management learning site. The purpose is to verify the effectiveness of the SSWB model through comparative analysis before and after implementation of the program. [Methodology] The study was conducted in the fall semester of 2019 on 110 students of responsible management, management ethics, and leadership at K and S universities in Seoul where researchers work. For this study, pretest-posttest was conducted using the ‘Management Wisdom’ measurement tool developed by the researcher, and the analysis and verification were conducted using SPSS 25. [Findings] As a result, all factors resulted in statistically significant results. In other words, the SSWB model can be interpreted as improving the level of management wisdom. Therefore, it has been verified that this is a useful program for learning the wisdom of managers. [Implications] This study is significant in that the research related to learning wisdom has been limited to qualitative research through interview or through ideological reasoning so far, while actual quantitative measurement has been attempted. Moreover, the significance of the program can be found in the fact that the researchers who have conceptualized the wisdom of managers and developed measurement tools and programs for the first time in Korea have personally verified the effectiveness of the program. This means that the direction and flow of research are consistent, as well as the context of the same subject can be brought together to be faithful to the exact nature of the study. Also, the possibility of learning wisdom has been justified. This is of great significance not only in the academic entry of wisdom, which was considered abstract, but also in the fact that it was the trigger for practical college entrance.

        서울시 저영향개발(LID) 시범 시설에 대한 편익 특성 연구

        서울시는 ‘건강한 물순환 도시’ 조성을 비전으로 선포하고 도시 물환경 악화에 따른 문제를 해결하기 위한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이를 위해 서울시는 빗물의 침투 및 저류 기능 등을 이용하는 저영향개발(LID) 시설의 설치를 확산시키기 위한 정책 및 제도 개선을 추진하고 있다. 이러한 저영향개발 시설은 공공이 선도하는 물순환 도시 조성과 이를 위한 빗물의 표면유출 억제와 물이용 효율화를 목적으로 하고 있다. 또 악화된 물순환과 물환경을 회복하기 위해 다양한 저영향개발 시설이 설치 및 운영되고 있다. 그러나 이에 대한 체계적인 경제성 평가를 위한 편익 분석 방안은 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 저영향개발 시설의 경제적․환경적․사회적 편익을 다각적으로 분석하기 위해 저영향개발 시설별로 물․에너지․대기질 개선․기후변화 대응의 4개 카테고리별로 편익 분석항목을 선정하였다. 이러한 카테고리별 분류에 따른 직간접인 편익효과의 정량화 및 가치 평가 결과, 각 시설별로 연간 1,191원의 단위면적 당 편익이 발생하는 것으로 산정되었다. 분석 항목별 편익 분포 특성은 시설의 특성에 따라 다양한 것으로 나타났다(물: 30~90%, 에너지: 4~44%, 대기질 개선: <1~2%, 기후변화 대응: 5~22%). TBL 분석 결과, 시설별로 경제적 편익의 비중이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났으며(75~90%), 환경적 편익(<1~2%) 및 사회적 편익(9~24%)이 산정되었다. 향후, 현재의 개별 저영향개발 시설에 대한 편익 분석 방안을 기반으로 단지 및 지구 단위의 물순환 연계 시스템이 적용될 경우, 도시 열섬 현상 및 홍수 재해 예방 등 저영향개발 시설 운영의 편익에 대한 시너지 효과 등을 평가할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Seoul metropolitan has established a vision as ‘Healthy water-cycle city’ to resolve urban water-environmental deterioration. And it established administrative structure to expand Low Impact Development (LID) facilities to recover aggravated water-cycle and water-environment. Therefore, various LID facilities are constructed and operated, however, benefit analytic plans for systematic valuation are insufficient. In this study, to analyze economic, environmental and social benefits of LID facilities, contents for benefit analysis were selected and categorized as water, energy, air quality and climate changes. As a result of quantification and valuation to the beneficial effects, LID facilities showed the total benefit as 1,191~3,292 won/yr. Characteristics of benefit distribution by analysis contents were various reflecting functional characteristics of each LID facility (Water: 30~90%, Energy: 4~44%, Air quality: <1~2%, Climate change: 5~22%). As a result of Triple Bottom Line analysis, economic benefit showed the greatest portion as 75~90%. As further studies, suggested benefit assessment plans for each LID facility should be applied to inter-connected LID systems on complex-scaled area, and synergy effects by various LID systems would be evaluated such as prevention of heat island and flood disasters.

      • Impact of Interferon-Based Treatment on Quality of Life and Work Related Productivity from the Korean Cohort in the MOSAIC Study

        Aims: Chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection increases the risk for progressive liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma and negatively impacts the patient’s quality of life. HCV treatment is evolving with direct acting antivirals but IFN based therapy has been the standard of care for many years and remains available in some countries. The MOSAIC study aims to characterize patients with chronic HCV infection and assess the impact of IFN-containing treatment on health-related quality of life, work related productivity and health care utilization. Methods: MOSAIC is an international prospective multicenter observational study that has been conducted in 20 countries. Consecutive patients with chronic HCV infection were enrolled and those who initiated an IFN based regimen were prospectively followed for 48 weeks. We report results from the Korean cohort Results: 100 patients were enrolled: 86 were treatment naïve and 14 were treatment experienced. 33 patients initiated an IFN based regimen: 6 patients started IFN + RBV, 26 patients started Peg-IFN + RBV, none started Peg-IFN + RBV + DAA and 1 patient received other treatment. Among the treated cohort, demographic and disease characteristics were the following: the mean age was 54.5 years; 14 patients were male. 14 had minimal or no fibrosis, 2 portal fibrosis, 3 bridging fibrosis and 6 patients suffered from cirrhosis. HCV Genotype distribution was as follows: genotype 1: 11; genotype 2: 19 and genotype 3: 3. Table 1 describes the results at baseline and changes over 4, 12 and 48 weeks and end-of-treatment (EOT) for the quality of life and work productivity outcome measures (EQ-5D-5L, HCV-PRO and WPAI). Conclusions: Results from the Korean cohort of the MOSAIC study show a moderate trend for deterioration of health-related quality of life and work productivity associated with IFN based treatment for patients with chronic HCV infection during treatment period.
