In this paper, a solution of the H∞ control problem for linear uncertain systems with input time delay is presented. An H∞ norm bounded condition is obtained as a sufficient condition for linear uncertain systems with input time delay. Based upon this sufficient condition, a robust H∞ controller design method which involves the solutions of linear matrix inequalities is developed. A numerical example is solved in order to illustrate the efficacy of the suggested design method.
低溫光反應 裝置의 製作과 이를 利用한 테트라페닐디아조시클로펜타디엔의 低溫光反應

The apparatus for low temperature photoreaction is very useful one for detecting reactive intermediates such as carbene, benzyne etc. So, the major portion of this work dealt with the construction of apparatus for low temperature photoreaction. And tetraphenyldianzocyclopentadiene was synthesized as a precursor by reaction of benzil with 1, 3-diphenylacetone and p-toluenesulfonylhydrazide. Using this apparatus constructed for low temperature photoreaction, tetraphenyldiazocyclopentadiene was irrdiated by UV (λ>280nm) at 10K, 7 exp (-6)mbar. Irradiation of tetraphenyldiazocyclopentadiene through quartz window at 10K gave three new strong IR peaks; 2,110 cm^-1, 1,675cm^-1, and 765cm^-1. Comparison with the results of matrix isolated study of diazocyclopentadiene, it was believed photoproducts to be tetraphenylcyclopentadienylidene (765cm^-1) as carbene and tetraphenylcyclopropenylallene (2,110cm^-1, 1,675cm^-1) formed by intramolecular rearrangement of the carbene.

A new biologically active peptide with structural similarity to neuromedin N (NMN) has been isolated from extracts of visceral tissue of the African lungfish, Protopterus dolloi, using the rectum of the quail as the bioassay system. The primary structure of NMN-related peptide was established as Lys-Ala-Pro-Tyr-Ile-Leu-OH ([$Ala_2$]-NMN) and contained one substitution ($Ala_2\rightarrow$Ile) compared with the porcine NMN. [$Ala_2$]-NMN was found to have an excitatory effect on rectal muscle tissues of quail (Coturnix japonica), newt (Cynops pyrrhogaster) and black bass (Micropterus sulmoides). The threshold concentration of [Ala2]-NMN for contraction of C. japonica muscle was found to be approximately $10^-11$M. [$Ala_2$]-NMN showed contractile activities in the following order: C. japonica > C. pyrrhogaster > M. sulmoides. The identification of [Ala2]-NMN provides evidence that NMN family, hitherto confined to mammals, has a widespread occurrence in lungfish.

Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to examine whether rectosigmoid polyps could be a marker for proximal lesions. Methods: A total of 367 asymptomatic patients with distal colonic polyps (314 adenomatous; 53 hyperplastic) noted on sigmoidoscopy and 134 asymptomatic controls without distal colonic polyps were evaluated with total colonoscopy. No one had risk factors of colorectal cancers or polyps. Results: Incidence of synchronous proximal adenomas was higher in the patients with distal adenomas than in the patients with distal hyperplastic polyps and the controls (30.3% vs 17.0% and 15.7%, p$lt;0.05). It was also higher in the patients with multiple distal adenomas than in the patients with single distal adenoma. Patients with distal adenomas bigger than 5 mm in diameter had a higher risk of synchronous proximal adenomas (42.4% vs 25.8%, p$lt;0.005). Patients with advanced distal adenomas had a higher prevalence of advanced adenomas in the proximal colon than those with non-advanced distal adenomas (9.1% vs 2.1%, p$lt;0.05). Conclusion: Rectosigmoid polyps detected on flexible sigmoidoscopy can be a predictor of proximal neoplasia according to their morphologic characteristics and pathology.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>As a bioisosteric strategy to overcome the poor metabolic stability of lead compound KYS05090S, a series of new fluoro-substituted 3,4-dihydroquinazoline derivatives was prepared and evaluated for T-type calcium channel (Ca<SUB>v</SUB>3.2) block, cytotoxic effects and liver microsomal stability. Among them, compound <B>8h</B> (KCP10068F) containing 4-fluorobenzyl amide and 4-cyclohexylphenyl ring potently blocked Ca<SUB>v</SUB>3.2 currents (>90% inhibition) at 10μM concentration and exhibited cytotoxic effect (IC<SUB>50</SUB> =5.9μM) in A549 non-small cell lung cancer cells that was comparable to KYS05090S. Furthermore, <B>8h</B> showed approximately a 2-fold increase in liver metabolic stability in rat and human species compared to KYS05090S. Based on these overall results, <B>8h</B> (KCP10068F) may therefore represent a good backup compound for KYS05090S for further biological investigations as novel cytotoxic agent. In addition, compound <B>8g</B> (KCP10067F) was found to partially protect from inflammatory pain via a blockade of Ca<SUB>v</SUB>3.2 channels.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P>Metal recovery from electronic waste and industrial wastewater has attracted increasing attention to recycle precious metals and inhibit the emission of hazardous heavy metals. However, the selective recovery of precious metals with a large quantity is still very challenging because wastewater contains a variety of different cations while precious metal ions are relatively scarce. Here, we introduce a simple method to selectively increase the adsorption of gold ions using tannin-coated porous polymer microspheres through photochemical reduction. Mesoporous poly(ethylene glycol dimethacrylate-<I>co</I>-acrylonitrile) microspheres with an average pore diameter of 13.8 nm were synthesized and used as an adsorbent matrix. Tannic acid (TA) was deposited onto the internal pores of the polymer matrix by simple immersion in an aqueous milieu. TA coatings increased the maximum number of adsorbed gold ions by 1.3 times because of the well-known metal ion chelation of TA. Under light illumination, the maximum number of adsorbed gold ions dramatically increased by 6.1 times. We examined two distinct mechanisms presumably involved in the enhanced adsorption: the photooxidation of TA and plasmon-induced hot electrons. Moreover, TA-coated microspheres exhibited remarkable selectivity for gold ions among competing metal ions commonly found in waste resources. This work suggests that the photochemically activated TA can serve as an excellent adsorbent for the selective and efficient recovery of gold ions from wastewater.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

The peptide with structural similarity to mammalian substance P (M-SP) has been isolated from extract of the body of the African lungfish, Protopterus dolloi, using the rectum of the newt as the bioassay system. The primary structure of the SP-related peptide was identified as Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Asp-Gln-Phe-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Met-NH2 (L-SP) and contained four substitutions ($Lys^{1}\rightarrow $ Arg, $Arg^{3}\rightarrow$ Lys, $Asp^{5}\rightarrow$ Gln, and $Tyr^{8}\rightarrow$ Phe) compared with M-SP; this structure is identical to that of the peptide isolated from the gut of the Australian lungfish. Circular dichroism spectra showed that L-SP had an unordered structure in the buffer solution and phospholipid bilayers. This peptide was found to have an excitatory effect on rectal muscle tissues of newt, quail, and fish. L-SP also had a more potent vasodilatory effect on the guinea-pig aorta than that of M-SP. The identification of the peptide provides evidence that SP family, hitherto confined to mammals, have a widespread occurrence in lungfish.
