Background/Aims: Rectal carcinoid tumors can be resected with endoscopy, and it is important to assess their prognostic factors. We evaluated the potential of Ki-67 expression as a prognostic factor in rectal carcinoid tumors. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 37 patients with rectal carcinoid tumors who got endoscopic resection from January 2001 to January 2011 at Inje University Seoul Paik Hospital. We analyzed their endoscopic and histologic findings, Ki-67 expression, clinical outcome, and prognosis. Results: The mean age (±SD) of the patients was 56.3±10.7 years, and the male : female ratio was 3.6:1. The mean tumor size was 0.5±0.4 cm, 33 patients showed grade 1 tumors (89.2%) and the average Ki-67 expression was 0.7±1.2%. Thirty five patients underwent endoscopic mucosal resection, and two required endoscopic submucosal dissection. Eight patients had positive margins after resection, but no cases of lymphovascular invasion were identified. The median follow-up duration was 21.4±25.4 months, and no recurrences were observed. Conclusions: In low grade rectal carcinoid tumors which are lack of central depression on colonoscopy, the expression of a molecular marker of malignant potential, Ki-67, was low. Therefore, endoscopic resection seemed to be a safe and effective treatment for these tumors.

Primer 155(GCTGGCGCTG) was the most useful primer with distinctive polymorphic DNA pattern to distinguish between KI races and KJ races. Primer 173(CAGGCGGCGT) showed polymorphic DNA pattern to distinguish isolates of KI-100 race. The specific DNA fragment of 0.6Kb, generated from 88-62 of KJ-201 race by RAPD with primer 412)TGCGCCGCTG), was promising as a molecular marker to identify the isolate.

기대빈도를 활용한 새로운 상대집중지수의 제안

본 연구는 기존의 순위만 고려하는 집중도를 보완하여 기대빈도를 이용한 새로운 상대집중지수 NOHI(Nam-Oh-Hong Index)를 제안하고, 이를 지역별 직업별 종사자 수에 적용함으로써 지역별 특화 직종 분포에 활용하는데 있다. 지역 간 특화정도를 보여주기 위해 개발된 입지계수(LQ)의 경우, 해당산업의 지역 내 비중을 상대적으로 고려하지 못함에 따라 지역 내 특성화를 반영하지 못하는 한계를 내포하고 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 NOHI는 이러한 단점을 보완하여 산업 및 직종의 지역간 지역내 특화도를 동시에 나타낼 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 NOHI를 활용하여 분석한 결과 서울은 경영 회계 사무관련직의 특화도가 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 부산은 기계 재료관련직의 특화도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study is to introduce a relative specialization index, the Nam-Oh-Hong Index(NOHI) and to investigate regional distribution of occupational specialization using the newly developed index. Compared with Location Quotient(LQ), the advantages of the index is that the NOHI enables comparison between inter-regional and intra-regional concentration of employment possible at the same time. The results of the specialization analyses show that Seoul is specialized in management, book-keeping and office related occupations, whereas Busan in machine and material related occupations.

CO gas sensors were fabricated by firing the mixture of SnO₂and 5 wt.% Th(NO₃)₄. Their electrical properties and sensitivity characteristics to gases have been investigated. The mixture of 95wt.% SnO₂ and 5 wt.% Th(NO₃)₄ fired at 600℃ for 1 hour showed the highest sensitivity to CO gas. Since the devices are solid and have good sensitivity to CO gas, it is suggested that they could be used as the elements of CO gas detecting apparatus.

Courts in most states recognize a private right of action for dismissals that jeopardize specific public policy interests of the state. This category of tort liability is called the public policy tort. The public policy tort, is a specific application of the prima facie tort. The public policy tort permits recovery by a dismissed employee only when the dismissal violates a clear public policy of the state. The prima facie tort allows recovery if the employer dismissed the employee with malice and without justification. Malice is a legal term of art that means little more than the mental state that motivates harmful conduct in the absence of justification. Intentional tort principles applicable to these categories permit a plaintiff to recover only by showing that a legally protected right of the plaintiff was harmed by an act of the defendant and that the defendant lacked justification for his act. The public policy tort theory expands the range of circumstances in which an employee may recover without having to establish the employer's conduct or state of mind sufficiently to satisfy traditional tort categories such as intentional interference with contractual relations, intentional infliction of emotional distress, fraudulent misrepresentation, defamation, or invasion of privacy. None of these traditional theories permitted the employee to recover for the dismissal itself. The newer public plicy tort theory permits a dismissed employee to recover for the dismissal itself. Public policy tort cases require courts to balance the interests of the employee, employer, and society under formula presented in § 870 of the Restatement(Second) of Torts.

In this study, structural analysis of worn tire to current forces is performed to investigate its behavior charateristics. For the behavior analysis of worn tire, finite element model representing orthotropic material of tire, SAP, and ANSYS are applied. In case of finite element model used in this study, the material and geometric nonlinearities are not considered. And also, the analysis of large deformation and the contact element of three dimensional structure is not given in SAP. Two dimensional link element may be used in stead of contact element. Mean while, ANSYS provides three dimensional contact elements in order to do contact analysis and give the supplementary results which SAP doesn't cover.

Effects of hyper-and hypothyroidism in the swim-stress(SS) induced changes of plasma corticosterone(CS) level and brain norepinephrine(NE) metabolism were studied in male mice pretreated with 1-thyroxine sodium(4㎎/㎏, i.p. inj. once a day for 5 days; T₄) and propylthiouracil (fed ad lib in 0.01% drinking water for 5 weeks : PTU). The circadian rhythm of spotaneous motor activity was not significantly altered by T₄ and PTU, respectively. The plasma thyroxine level was markedly increased by T₄ but reduced by PTU and the plasma thyrotropin level was markedly increased by PTU but decreased by T₄. The plasma CS level was not changed by PTU but moderately increased by T₄ Clonidine slightly increased the plasma CS level, but the clonidine effect was significantly enhanced by T₄-pretreatment. The brain NE and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylglycol(MHPG) contents were little affected by T₄ but significantly decreased by PTU. ThE SS-induced increase of plasma CS level was moderately decreased by PTU but increased by T₄. However, clonidine significantly inhibited the SS-induced increase, and the inhibitory effect of clonidine was little significantly affected by PTU and T₄ respectively. The brain MHPG content and MHPG/NE ratio were significantly decreased by clonidine bur increased by SS. THe clonidine-induced decrease of brain MHPG/NE ratio were not altered by PYTU or T₄. The SS-induced, and the inhibitory effect of clonidine was not affected by PTU and T₄ respectively. These results suggest 1) that the alteration of thyroidal function little affects the changes of brain NE in responses to swim-stress, but the stress-induced change of plasma corticosterone level may be somewhat modulated by the thyroidal function, and 2) that the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenocortical stimulation in response to swim-stress seems to be mediated via hypothalamic noradrenergic activation, and the stress response may inhibited by the agonistic activity of clonidine on the presynaptic α₂-adrenoceptor.

균열크기 측정기법 개발에 관한 연구

본 연구는 증기발생기 건전성 향상기술 개발 과제 일환으로 진행중인 고리 1호기 구 증기발생기 인출 전열관을 대상으로 하는 Round Robin Test의 사전 시험을 위해 수행하였다. 균열결함에 대한 검출 및 크기측정의 기준을 설정하기 위해 SGMP Mock-Up를 제작하였고 신호수집한 Data를 증기발생기 전열관 가동중검사 업무를 수행하고 있는 와전류신호평가자들 4개조가신호평가에 참여하였으며, 그 결과를 요약 정리하였다. 본 연구에서 SGMP Mock-Up Data Crack Sizing의 목적은 고리 1호기 구 증기발생기 전열관을 대상으로 시행될 Round Robin Test 전에 결함 기구별 균열결함의 특성 이해 및 균열결함이 여러 유형의 외부 환경에서 나타나고 있을 때의 균열결함에 대한 정량적인 크기 측정값의 바람직한 모델 적용을 확인하기 위함이다. SGMP Mock-Up에 적용한 와전류검사는 Robbin 및 MRPC 검사를 포함하였다. 본 연구의 주 목적인 MRPC 데이터를 이용한 균열깊이 평가에 2개조는 위상각-깊이 분석법을 적용하여 신호평가를 수행하였고, 2개조는 위상각-깊이 분석법 이외에 진폭-깊이 평가 기법을 적용하여 SGMP Mock-Up에 대한 최적의 기법을 설정하였다.
