한국 학생들의 영어 어두자음 발화학습에 관한 실험 연구

The purpose of this paper is to examine through experiment if Korean students can learn sounds like /r/, /f/, /b/ and /v/ precisely, sounds which Korean does not contain, and to discover methods whereby this learning may be accomplished. To this end, we prepared two kinds of test materials with 30 questions each, consisting of pairs with /l, r/, /f, p/, and /b, v/ in word-initial positions. In the tests, 40 third-year students from Janghang Technical High School served as subjects. The subjects were divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The tests consisted of two steps. First, we examined each group's pronunciation ability of the above consonants in word-initial positions. Next, after teaching the experimental group the differences between the consonants above with special programs, we examined their degree of improvement. The results showed that the pronunciation ability of the experimental group improved more than that of the control group. In conclusion, although most of the subjects of the control group had difficulty in pronouncing the sounds that Korean does not contain, they improved their pronunciation ability to some degree by learning the place and manner of articulation, and through reetitive practice.

신속 · 정밀하고 효율적인 짠류농약 검출을 위하여 극싱칼럼 (Extrelut-3')을 사옹한 SPE법을 시도하였다. 시료는 채소류체 사용하는 농약중 잔류성이 있고 식품공전상 시험 전처리가 각각 다른 Chlorothalonil등 6종의 농약을 선정하고 그들 표준액에 대한 PPIR수준의 농도로추출용라의 종류 및 용매량 등의 추출조건을 달리하여 회수율 등을 측정한 결과 최적의 분석조건을 얻었다. 1) 추출 용매량은 증가할수록 추출 수율이 높았고,용매 종류에 대한 추출수율은 각 농약별로 다소 차이는 있었으나 극성 정도가 비교적 높은 Ethyl acetate애서 평균 추출수율이 가장 높았다 2) 최대 평균회수율은 Ethyl acetate 60mL를 사웅할 경우로서 93.6%였다. 3)표준액을 시료에 첨가한 시험에서도 역시 Ethyl ace늘to가 푼출수율이 가장 높았으며 불순물 분리제거 효과도 LLE법 보다 월등히 우수하였다. 4) 각 농약별 검출한계는 치소 0.001ppin으로 농산물 중 미량 잔류하는 농약을 검출할 수 있을 것으로 사료된파. 그러므로 SPE법은 LLE법보다 경제적인 방법으로 판명되었으며, 앞으로 농산물 중 잔류농약 분석에서 LEE법을 대치할 쑤 있을 것으로 기대된다. Solid-phase extraction by polar column(Extrelut-3') was attempted to develope the fast and efficient method of detecting pesticide of farm product.5·ix kinds of pesticide used in farming fieldfrequently and different in pretreatment, were chosen from Korea Food Cord. Optfmal analysis condi-tions were determiBed from t31e recovery rate of standard pesticides according to extraction solvent andextraction volurae. Extraction yietd was increased as solvent polarity and extraction volume. Maximumrecovery rate was acquired at 93.6% when 60mL of ethyl acetate was used as eluent. Tllis method wasmore effective than liquid-liquid partition extract·ion method to eliminated the impurity and had 0.001ppm of detection limit. Therefore. solid-phase eEl=raction was expected to be economical substitute fortraditional liquid-liquid extT·action method.
Intradural Lumbar Disc Herniation

Intradural lumbar disc herniation[ILDH] is a rare pathology. The pathogenesis of ILDH is not known with certainty. Adhesions between the ventral wall of the dura and the posterior longitudinal ligament[PLL] could act as a preconditioning factor. Diagnosis of ILDH is difficult and seldom suspected preoperatively. Prompt surgery is necessary because the neurologic prognosis appears to be closely related to preoperative duration of neurologic symptoms. Despite preoperatively significant neurological deficits, the prognosis following surgery is relatively good. We report on case of ILDH at L3/4 with differential diagnoses, and the possible pathogenic factors are discussed.

<P> Mepivacaine is an aminoamide local anesthetic with an intermediate duration that intrinsically produces vasoconstriction both in vivo and in vitro. This study investigated the arachidonic acid metabolic pathways involved in mepivacaine-induced contraction, and elucidated the associated cellular mechanism with a particular focus on extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) in endothelium-denuded rat aorta. Isolated rat thoracic aortic rings were suspended for isometric tension recording. Cumulative mepivacaine concentration-response curves were generated in the presence or absence of the following inhibitors: quinacrine dihydrochloride, nordihydroguaiaretic acid, phenidone, AA-861, indomethacin, NS-398, SC-560, fluconazole, PD 98059, and verapamil. Mepivacaine-induced ERK phosphorylation, 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) expression, and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 expression in rat aortic smooth muscle cells were detected by Western blot analysis in the presence or absence of inhibitors. Mepivacaine produced tonic contraction in isolated endothelium-denuded rat aorta. Quinacrine dihydrochloride, nordihydroguaiaretic acid, phenidone, AA-861, NS-398, PD 98059, and verapamil attenuated mepivacaine-induced contraction in a concentration-dependent manner. However, fluconazole had no effect on mepivacaine-induced contraction. PD 98059, quinacrine dihydrochloride, nordihydroguaiaretic acid, AA-861, phenidone, and indomethacin attenuated mepivacaine-induced ERK phosphorylation. Mepivacaine upregulated 5-LOX and COX-2 expression. These results suggest that mepivacaine-induced contraction involves ERK activation, which is primarily mediated by the 5-LOX pathway and in part by the COX-2 pathway. </P>

<P>The attenuation and immunoenhancing effects of rpoS and phoPSalmonella enterica serovar strain Typhi (Salmonella typhi) mutants have not been compared. Here, three S. typhi deletion mutants (phoP, rpoS, and rpoS-phoP double mutant) are constructed and these mutants are characterized with respect to invasiveness, virulence, and protective immune response compared with wild-type Ty2. It was found that phoP and phoP-rpoS deletion mutants are less invasive to HT-29 cells than the wild-type Ty2 and the rpoS single-deleted strain. The LD(50) of immunized mice was higher for phoP than for rpoS mutants, and the highest for the phoP-rpoS double mutant. In addition, all S. typhi mutants showed an increase in the specific serum IgG levels and T-cell-mediated immunity, and showed equal protection abilities against a wild-type Ty2 challenge after two rounds of immunization in BALB/c mice. It is concluded that phoP genes appear to play a more important role than rpoS genes in both cellular invasion and virulence of S. typhi, but not in immunogenicity in mice. Furthermore, the data indicate that the phoP-rpoS double mutant may show promise as a candidate for an attenuated typhoid vaccine.</P>
Transcranial Doppler and Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow Study in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

Objective : The authors analyze prospectively the result of transcranial doppler[TCD] in normal pressure hydrocephalus and compared its cerebral blood flow parameters to radionuclide cerebrospinal fluid[CSF] flow study, postoperative brain computed tomography[CT] findings and clinical outcome, and studied the relationship between cerebral hemodynamics and clinical performance. Methods : Twenty five patients with hydrocephalus undertook pre- and post-operative TCD but only preoperative CSF flow study was performed. Mean flow velocity[Vm], pulsatility index[PI] and resistance index[RI] were assessed through TCD and changes in ventricle size and cortical gyral atrophy were checked through brain CT. Results : Postoperative hydrocephalus showed an increase in Vm[ACA P=0.037, MCA P=0.034], decrease in PI[ACA P=0.019, MCA P=0.017] and decrease in RI [ACA P=0.017, MCA P=0.021] compared to preoperative TCD parameters in the postoperative improvement group. In the postoperative improvement group, postoperative TCD parameters correlated with CSF flow study grade [Vm : $R^2=-0.75$, PI : $R^2=0.86$, RI : $R^2=0.78$] and ventriculocranial ratio change correlated with PI change [$R^2=0.73$]. The convexity gyral atrophy and initial TCD parameters showed close relationship to outcome. Conclusion : PI and RI can be used as an indicator of post operative prognosis, and with the addition of CSF flow study values, can also be used as a tool to predict pre-op and post-op patient status and successful shunt surgery.

The novel 1-(1-benzoylindoline-5-sulfonyl)-4-phenyl-4,5-dihydroimidazolones 2 shows highly potent and broad cytotoxicities. Their cytotoxicities against human lung carcinoma A549, human chronic myelogenous leukemia K562, and human ovarian adenocarcinoma SK-OV-3 are compatible with doxorubicin. Compound 2p (1-[(4-aminobenzoyl)indoline-5-sulfonyl])-4- phenyl-4,5-dihydroimidazolone) exhibits a cytotoxicity that is far more potent than doxorubicin and also exhibits highly effective antitumour activities against murine (3LL, Colon 26) and human xenograft (NCI-H23, SW620) tumor models.

<P><B>Background and Objectives</B></P><P>Several predictors of recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after ablation have been identified, including age, type of AF, hypertension, left atrial diameter and impaired left ventricular ejection fraction. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the atherosclerotic plaque thickness of the thoracic aorta is associated with a recurrence of AF after circumferential pulmonary vein ablation (CPVA).</P><P><B>Subjects and Methods</B></P><P>Among patients with drug-refractory paroxysmal or persistent AF, 105 consecutive (mean age 58±11 years, male : female=76 : 29) patients who underwent transesophageal echocardiography and CPVA were studied. The relationships between the recurrence of AF and variables, including clinical characteristics, plaque thickness of the thoracic aorta, laboratory findings and echocardiographic parameters were evaluated.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>A univariate analysis showed that the presence of diabetes {hazard ratio (HR)=3.425; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.422-8.249, p=0.006}, ischemic heart disease (HR=4.549; 95% CI, 1.679-12.322, p=0.003), duration of AF (HR=1.010; 95% CI, 1.001-1.018, p=0.025), type of AF (HR=2.412, 95% CI=1.042-5.584, p=0.040) and aortic plaque thickness with ≥4 mm (HR=9.514; 95% CI, 3.419-26.105, p<0.001) were significantly associated with the recurrence of AF after ablation. In Cox multivariate regression analysis, only the aortic plaque thickness (with ≥4 mm) was an independent predictor of recurrence of AF after ablation (HR=7.250, 95% CI=1.906-27.580, p=0.004).</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Significantly increased aortic plaque thickness can be a predictable marker of recurrence of AF after CPVA.</P>
