This paper is intended to study 〈Jumong Myth〉 which's written by many writers newly. It seems to me that there are characters which are represented images of Jumong and Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉 in their works. First of all, it seems that they showed aspects of Jumong or Yoohwa as the Hero of the founder or the Hero's supporter of wisdom in their poems 『Dongmaeng』 and 『The Four Pillars and Eight Characters of Go, Ju-mong as the founder of Goguryeo Dongmyeongsungwang』by Seo, Jeong-ju, 『Lady Yoohwa』by Song Su-kwon and 『The sky of Jumong』 by Yoon Keum-cho. Only Seo‘s characters are expressed a destiny and a right but Song and Yoon's are represented the Hero itself in the narrative process through agony of realities. The secondly, it seems that Lee, Kwang-su showed aspects of Jumong as a so n?a husband?a father through the life of the Hero in his work 『Dongmyeongwang of love』. And Song Ha-chun showed aspects of Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉 through a woman as a unusual birth of process and preservation of life in his work 『Daughters of Haback』. In conclusion, it seems that their works either poems or novels are represented and recreated various images of Jumong and Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉.

Protective Effect of Curcumin and Aqueous Extract of Onchengyeum on CCl_(4)-induced Hepatotoxicity

An aqueous extract of oriental herbal composition named Onchengyeum and curcumin, an antioxidant isolated from turmeric (Curcuma longa Linné) reduced hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl_(4)). Improved liver function was observed by measuring the activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CRE), total cholesterol (TCHO), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-CHO), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-CHO), total protein (TP), albumin (ALB) and total bilirubin (BIL) in serum. Hepatic parameters monitored were levels of cholesterol (CHO), triglyceride (TG), malondialdehyde (MDA) and content of cytochrome P450 (CYP), level of glutathione (GSH), activities of NADPH-CYP reductase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase (GPx). The histopathological examination showed that the treatment of Onchengyeum and curcumin relieved the ballooning degeneration of hepatocytes which had been generated by CCl_(4). The results suggested that hepatoprotective effects of Onchengyeum and curcumin possibly are due to their promising antioxidative activity.

Iridology, developed more than 100 years ago, is the diagnosis of medical conditions through noting irregularities of the pigmentation in the iris The purpose of this study is to compare interrelation between CVA, hypertension family history and cardio-renal connective tissue in Iris Constitution through iris constitution examination. The subjects consist of 114 patients who were examined in Iris Constitution at Chonju Oriental Medicine Hospital attached to Wonkwang Univ. from September. 1St. 2000 to August. 31th. 2002. 1. In the distribution of Iris Constitution, among of 79cases, There are neurogenic type 13cases, abdominal connective tissue weakness constitution 31 cases, cardio-renal connective tissue weakness constitution 6 cases, cholesterol 7 cases and others 22 case in control group. 2. There are familial history of CVA and hypertention 32 cases, no familial history of CVA and hypertention1 3 cases, in 35cases of experimental group. These results imply that there is meaningfulness of interrelation between cardio-renal connective tissue weakness constitution and. CVA, hypertention.

발라(Giacomo Balla)의 생활예술로서의 악세서리 디자인 연구

The Futurist movement was intent on abolishing the distance which separate art from life. Balla who was a forerunner and creator of the Futurist movement developed the innovating ability of art. He claimed the creation of art for life and invented a new type of work of art. His consciousness of the presence of art in life represented at stage design, film, type setting machine, graphic design and house hold goods. He experimented in the minor art and tried to revolutionize people's clothing, furniture, and house hold projects. He projected accessory design as a modernizing factor. Scarfs, bags, fans, belts and embroideries were created with dynamic patterns using geometric character and highly colurful character. Neck ties and modifiers were anti-traditional style and were made of unconvention materials. Transformable dress was individual creation by way of dress modifiers. Hats and shoes were simple shape with asymmetric lines, geometric motifs, and dynamic colors. These fashion projects were realized for the renewal of taste in the applied art and were recreated as part of his utopian vision of a total Futurist environment.

新羅 花郞徒 敎育의 硏究 成果와 課題

This study aims to review on the whole the history of research dealing with Hwarangdo(花郞徒) education in Silla(新羅) period and to propose the future research vision for that subject. The research of Hwarangdo education is of great significance not only for examining the representative education style of Silla period but also for searching the typical education mode native to Korea since Gochosun(古朝鮮) period. And to satisfy these two research interest simultaneously, it is needed to investigate deeply the historic origin of Hwarangdo education. But most established researches of Hwarangdo education have not satisfied enough this need, and not explained systematically the characteristics of Hwarangdo education in concern with the problems of historic origin. The understandings of the historic origin of Hwanrangdo education are very diverse: shamanism(Musok), young boys group since Samhan(三韓) period, high grade religion or thoughts native to Korea, chinese religion or thoughts, political condition of Silla period, and so forth. I think that, among these several viewpoints, the theory of "high grade religion or thoughts native to Korea" is the most persuasive as the view of historic origin and characteristics of Hwarangdo education. To make clear deeply the entity of Hwarangdo education, we should comprehend seriously the issues of the origin in the future research. Furthermore, the research of Hwarangdo education should be closely connected with the research of the native typical education mode in ancient Korea.

Nowadays, the education in universities attaches great importance to practicality. Lectures on Korean Speech at universities need to conform to it, too. This article is a preliminary study for the compilation of a textbook for university students. It purports to reduce theoretical explanations, and instead it intends to gain the effect of studying via practical exercises. The plan of <Korean Speech> for 15 weeks is as follows. Self-introduction, the collection of data for the preparation of speech, presentation about one topic (five minutes speech), standard pronunciation, standard language, command of exact sentences. the attitude and method of hearing, practical exercise of interview, speech manners at home, school, work place, types and stage of conversation, the procedure and method of conference, modulation of a meeting, practice of discussion and debate, preparation of a draft for delivering a speech, the importance of a public speech, etc. Also, I will open the standard and method of evaluation to the students, and let students evaluate each other so that they can reflect on themselves. From now on, lectures on speech at universities will be more and more centered on practicality. Therefore more specialized lecture programs should be developed.

Public choice theory can be defined as the econmic study of nonmarket decisionmaking, or simply the application of economics to political science. The purpose of this study is to overview the major theory of public choice, to examine the usefulness and limitation of public choice approach to public administration, and to suggest the desirable direction for the application of public choice theory to public administration. In conclusion, public choice approach is very useful in public administration in the sense that it enhances democratic efficency in public administration, especially in an era of financial retrenchment. The weakness in the application of public choice theory to public administration will have to be complemented by the feeling, intuition, humanity, political rationality, interpretive theory or phenomenological approach, and critical theory.
