      • Improved Internal Quantum Efficiency and Light-Extraction Efficiency of Organic Light-Emitting Diodes via Synergistic Doping with Au and Ag Nanoparticles

        <P>This paper reports the distinct roles- of Au and Ag nanoparticles; (NPs) in organic light-Orating-diodes (OLEDS) depending on their sizes. Au and Ag-NPs that.are 40 arid 50 nm in size, respectively, are the most effective for enhancing the performance of green: OLEDs. The external quantum efficiencies (EQEs): of green OLEDs doped with An and Ag N.Pg, (40 and 50 rim, respectiVely) are improved by 29.5% and 36.1%, respectively, while the power. efficiencies (PE8) are enhanced by 47.9% and 37.5%, respectively. Furthermore, combining the Au and Ag NPs produces greater enhancements. The EQE and PE of the coci-oped OLEDs are improved by 63.9% and 68.8% respectively,-.through the synergistic behavior of the different NPs. Finite difference time-domain simulations confirm that the localized surfaee:plasmon resonance of the Au NPs near 580 nth improves the radiative recombination rate (k(rad)) of green-light emitters locally (<50 pm), while the Ag NPs cause relatively long, range and broadband enhancements in k(rad). The-Simulations of 'various domain sizes. Verify that the light-extraction efficiency (LEE),can, be enhanced by More than 4.2% by applying Ag NPS.. Thus, size-controlled Au and Ag NPs can synergistically enhance LEDS by improving both the internal quantum efficiency and LEE.</P>

        혼수상태의 외상환자에서 초음파를 이용한 흉부 및 복부손상의 진단

        The need for rapid diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening thoracic and intra-abdominal injury result in controversy over the appropriate triage of unconscious blunt trauma patients. To aid in early decisions for these patients, a prospective analysis of 98 patients with glasgow coma scale(GCS) scores≤8 was undertaken. Although intra-thoracic and intra-abdominal injuries were frequently identified based on systolic blood ressure, the use of clinical signs alone resulted in more missed injuries than did using the emergency ultrasonography. In normotensive patients(n=34), intra-thoracic injuries was identified in one patient(2.9%), and intra-abdominal injuries were in 7 patients(20.6%). In shock(systolic blood pressure<90mmHg) Pa-tients(n=64), thoracic injuries and intra-abdominal injuries were diagnosed in 8(12.5%) and 27 patients(42.3%), thoracic and abdominal combined injuries were identified in 11 patients(17.2%). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of emergency ultrasonography were 96.3%, 91.7%, 94.9%. This study suggests that all unconscious trauma patients undergo immediate emergency ultrasonography to prevent missing life-threatening injuries.

      • BEZ235 (PIK3/mTOR inhibitor) Overcomes Pazopanib Resistance in Patient-Derived Refractory Soft Tissue Sarcoma Cells

        <P><I>BACKGROUND:</I> Although pazopanib treatment has become the standard chemotherapy in salvage setting for metastatic sarcoma patients, most patients progress after pazopanib treatment in 4 to 6 months. After failure to pazopanib, patients have limited options for treatment. Therefore, subsequent therapy in patients who failed to pazopanib is urgently needed and the use of patient derived cells or patient derived tumors for accompanying testing with various pharmacological inhibitors could offer additional treatment options for these patients. <I>METHODS:</I> Patient derived tumor cells were collected from ascites at the time of progression to pazopanib and a 13-drug panel was tested for drug sensitivity. We confirmed the results using <I>in vitro</I> cell viability assay and immunoblot assay. We also performed the genomic profiling of PDX model. <I>RESULTS:</I> The growth of patient derived tumor cells was significantly reduced by exposure to 1.0 μM AZD2014 compared with control (control versus AZD2014, mean growth = 100.0% vs 16.04%, difference = 83.96%, 95% CI = 70.01% to 97.92%, <I>P</I> = .0435). Similarly, 1.0 μM BEZ235 profoundly inhibited tumor cell growth <I>in vitro</I> when compared to control (control versus BEZ235, mean growth = 100.0% vs 7.308%, difference = 92.69%, 95% CI = 78.87% to 106.5%, <I>P</I> < .0001). Despite the presence of CDK4 amplification in the patient-derived tumor cells, LEE011 did not considerably inhibit cell proliferation when compared with control (control vs LEE011, mean growth = 100.0% vs 80.23%, difference = 19.77%, 95% CI = 1.828% to 37.72%, <I>P</I> = .0377). The immunoblot analysis showed that BEZ235 treatment decreased pAKT, pmTOR and pERK whereas AZD2014 decreased only pmTOR. <I>CONCLUSION:</I> Taken together, upregulation of mTOR/AKT pathway in sarcoma patient derived cells was considerably inhibited by the treatment of AZD2014 and BEZ235 with downregulation of AKT pathway (greater extent for BEZ235). These molecules may be considered as treatment option in STS patient who have failed to pazopanib in the context of clinical trials.</P>

        A model follwing controller is designed for an uncertain plant using the theory of VSS. The propsoed method is based on the modified condition for the sliding mode to exist. The discontinuous control law speed-ups the reaching phase and reduces the chattering in sliding mode. To further reduce chattering, this discontinuous control law is replaced by a continuous one in a predefined boundary layer neighboring switching hyperplane.

        항공기의 세로운동에 대한 가변구조모델추종제어기를설계 하였다. 슬라이딩모드에서 발생하는 채터링의 크기를 최소로 하는 다변수제어 알고리즘을 제시하고 그 타당성을 컴퓨터시뮬레이션을 통하여 보았다. A variable structure model-following controller is designed for the longitudinal motion of an aircraft. The proposed multivariable control law reduces the magnitude of the chattering in sliding mode. Simulation results show the performance of the control system.

        노인외상환자의 외상중증도계수와 동통감지력의 변화에 대한 임상적 고찰

        Because elderly individuals are participitating in social work as adult inspite of their physical handicapes such as hearing difficulty, visual difficulty and limit of motion, they are continually exposed to the risk of injury. Trauma is now fifth cause of death in elderly of over 65 years old, and the elderly suffer disproportionately high injury-related motality comparing with younger adults. In addition, sometimes elderly patients don`t complaint of pain on injured site because of high threshold to pain. We studied about occurence of neglected injury due to high threshold to pain in geriatric trauma patients. When we diagnosised injury that patients did not complaint of pain on injured site through physical examination and radiologic examination, we defined that as neglected injury. There were 8 (8%) geriatric patients who didn`t complaint of pain on injured site on admission to emergency center, but only 0.7% of adult patients had neglected injury. The severity was estimated by use of AIS(Abbreviated Injury Scale), and the severity of all neglected injuries were above AIS 2 point. The neglected injury were head injuries(4 in number), abdominal injury(1), pelvic injuries(2) and extremity injury(1). So if geriatric trauma patients were admitted to emergency center, we recommand full physical and radiological examinations although patients don`t complaint of pain.

        This paper considers the problem of detecting elliptical curves using multistage Hough transform. The proposed approach is based on the polar and pole definition of conics and its advantage lies in avoiding the propagation of parameter estimation error over the successive stages of the Hough transform. The Proposed method is capable of detecting partially visible ellipses, overlapping ellipses, and groups of concentric ellipses. It presints techniques aimed at improving the efficiency and reducing the memory size of the accumulator array. A set of experimental results is presinted to demonstrate these capabilites of the suggested approach.

      • 칼라코에 줄기切片의 器官分化에 미치는 生長調節物質의 影響

        In order to elucidate the effects of growth regulators on organogenesis in the stem explants of Kalanchoe daigremontiana, we have cultured the explants for 10 weeks on the MS medium with or without ammonium nitrate, supplemented with simultaneous combinations of auxin(IAA), gibberellin(GA_3) and cytokinin(BAP)The cocentrations of these growth regulators were 0.001-10.0 ㎎/l, respectively. The callus formation and organogenesis in the explants are mainly achieved under the simultaneous actions of the auxin and cytokinin. The optimal combination of growth regulators for callus formation was IAA 10.0 ㎎/l, GA_3 0.001 ㎎/l and BAP 0.1 ㎎/l. The optimal combinations for the adventitious root and bud formation are IAA 10.0 ㎎/l, GA_3 0.01 ㎎/l, BAP 0.01 ㎎/l and IAA 0.1 ㎎/l, GA_3 0.01 ㎎/l, BAP 1.0 ㎎/l, respectively. On the MS medium without ammonium nitrate, the callus and adventitious bud formation in the explants are better than those on the MS medium with ammonium nitrate, but the adventitious root formation is worse. The correlation between callus formation and organogenesis is negative on the both media.

        This paper considers the problem of detecting elliptical curves using Advanced Hough transform. Storage and efficiency problems are over come by decomposing the problem into two stages. The first stage uses a novel constraint as the basis for a Randomined Hough transform to detect the ellipse centre while the second stage finds the remaning parameters using simple but efficient focusing implementation of the Advaned Hough transform. The method is applicable in many situations where previous Hough transform schemes would fail. Results are demonstrated for comolicated image data containing several occluding ellipses.

      • 로보트 매니퓰레이터에 대한 슬라이딩 모드 제어기 설계

        본 논문에서는 로보트 매니퓰레이터에 대한 슬라이딩 모드 제어알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제어입력에 지수함수항을 포함시킴으로써 도달과정을 줄이도록 하였으며 경계층을 설정하여 채터링을 제거하였다. 제안된 방법을 2-링크 매니퓰레이터의 고정점 이동 제어에 적용하였으며 그 결과를 시뮬레이션으로 나타내었다. In this paper, a sliding mode control algorithm is proposed for the robotic manipulator. The reaching phase is reduced by the exponential control input terms and the chattering problem is solved by the introduction of the boundary layers neighboring switching planes. This method is applied for the point-to-point control of two-link manipulators and simulation results is intorduced.
