This study investigated ginseng growth and ginsenoside contents after control a reserved ginseng cultivation land using various green manure crops for stable ginseng cultivation. Followings are results obtained from this research. After cultivate the green manure crops, microbial flora in soil was diversified, organic matter and total-N content increased, but salt content decreased. The highest output obtained from the wheat cultivated area among various green manure corps. Growth of shoot and root of two years old ginseng increased significantly at the green manure crop cultivated area. Specially, the wheat cultivated area was the most effective in growth. Also, the rate of the leaf discoloration at the aerial part and the rusty root at the root was the least at the wheat cultivation area. Meanwhile, the ginsenoside content was the most at the wheat cultivation area. Thus, the reserved ginseng cultivation land could be managed by cultivating wheat for effective ginseng growth.

2014년 8월 5일부터 7일까지 경상남도 창녕군 일대에 위치한 대한민국 최대의 내륙 습지인 우포늪 일대를 한국거미연구회 회원(김주필, 예용택, 장지현, 오종화, 예성훈, 유혜성, 채준호, 김태우, 김민섭, 변진관, 성민규, 김지후, 김대희, 김녕, 이정준, 이형민 등 16명)들이 채집 조사한 결과 16과 48속 69종의 거미가 조사 연구되어 이에 보고하는 바이다. The authors investigated the spiders of the Upo wetland from 5th August to 7th August, 2014. In the present paper 69 species of 48 genera belong to 16 families were identified. These specimens are deposited at the Joo-Pil Spider Museum, Namyangju-Si, Kyunggi-Do.

It is common to define double primary cancer as the case of primary malignant tumors of different histologic site origins in each other. Etiology of double primary cacer is not known exactly but there are many contributing factors and theories about double primary cancer development. Owing to advancement of diagnostic procedure, reported cases of double primary malignant tumors have been increased in number. But occurance rate of multiple prirnary malignant tumors is relatively rare. We report the two cases, which we have confirmed double promary malignant tumors of different site origins such as esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and stomach adenocarcinoma with gastric fiberoptic endoscopic biopsy.

원발성 간세포암종은 간 외로 전이하는 경우가 드문 암이다. 전이가 있는 경우 주로 폐, 복부 임파선, 뼈, 뇌 순으로 전이된다. 그러나, 전이성인 경우라도, 간 종물 없이 전이 병변만 발견된 경우는 보고된 바가 없었다. 이에 간 종물 없이 흉벽에서만 발견된 전이성 간세포암종을 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. 51세 남자로, 좌상부 흉벽에 약 12×10㎝ 크기로 단단한 종물이 촉지되고 8개월 전부터 크기가 증가되어 내원하였다. 환자는 10년 전 만성 B형

Background/Aims: This study was performed to investigate the correlation of sodium iodide symporter (NIS) expression with the functionality and loss of phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) expression in human cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Methods: Immunohistochemistry for the expression of NIS and PTEN was performed in 60 biopsy specimens of CCA. The clinicopathological parameters were retrospectively identified from medical records. The expression pattern of NIS and loss of PTEN expression were analyzed in association with the clinicopathological characteristics, including survival. Results: Normal biliary trees displayed NIS expression, but hepatocytes did not. NIS expression was divided into two patterns: cytoplasmic and membranous. Fifty-nine cases, all except for one case, displayed NIS expression in tumor cells. Twenty-two cases (33.3%) were mixed pattern, and 39 cases (65.05%) were cytoplasmic pattern; the pure membranous pattern was not noted. There was no association between the NIS expression pattern and clinicopathological parameters, including age, sex, differentiation grade, T stage and tumor, node, metastasis stage (p>0.05). The survival rates were similar among various NIS expression patterns. Normal hepatocytes and biliary trees exhibited PTEN expression in the nucleus and cytoplasm. CCA cells displayed nuclear staining. Thirty-six (60.0%) of 60 cases displayed a loss of PTEN expression. The loss of PTEN expression was observed in the advanced T-stage group (p=0.0036), but there was no association between the loss of PTEN expression and other clinicopathological parameters (p>0.05). No association between the loss of PTEN expression and survival was noted. Conclusions: NIS is expressed in most types of human CCA. The expression pattern suggests a role in cancer development. PTEN loss expression is common in the context of human CCA, especially in the advanced T stage.
