Consumers are the principal agents of consumption when edible insect cookies are launched into the market; therefore, there is a need for research into consumer perception of this product and the factors that could affect their choice. Therefore, through this study, we aimed to provide such information for the development and launch of edible insect cookies. We investigated the importance of product features of edible insect cookies and the part‐worth of the feature levels while predicting the market share of edible insect cookies that are currently in development. We constructed 16 main and four hold‐out profiles from six product features and 16 levels of features. Following analysis of data collected from 203 of 250 respondents, product features were found to be important in the descending order of “type”, “price”, “size”, “availability of nutrition facts”, “thickness” and “use of edible insects”. When the market share of an edible insect cookie with the optimal combination of product features was analyzed through choice simulation, it had the second‐highest share in the cookie market, thus suggesting a direction for the development of edible insect cookies.

The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the edible insect industry in South Korea and present suggestions for future pricing and promotion strategies. In the first section of this paper, this study outlines the current status and challenges of the edible insect industry in the food market, the material market, the animal feed market, and the medicinal market. The second section of this paper suggests different pricing and promotion strategies for each market segment. This study describes how the consideration of personal traits, information framing, and increasing familiarity can enhance consumer consumption of insect‐based foods.

This study proposes a holistic approach to investigate activity preference patterns of international tourist market in Shanghai, China. The authors establish a second-order factor model of activity preference represented by activity segments. The second-order model is further compared across business and leisure tourist groups. The results indicate that the pattern of the second-order model across business and leisure tourist groups to Shanghai is consistent. The tourists in both groups show the highest interests in seeing local life, followed by entertainment, special tourism, and traditional attractions. This study leads to a more efficient allocation of resources in destination development and provides guidance regarding promotional strategies.

This study aimed to investigate the relationships between the age groups of international tourists and the information sources they prefer on the island of Fiji. The study used correspondence analysis to achieve its goals. The results showed that the 18-29 age group was more likely to obtain tourism information from travel guidebooks and friends/relatives. The 30-49 age group preferred to seek travel information on websites. Older adults, 50-64 and over, primarily relied on travel agencies and tour operators. This study helps tourism industry practitioners in Fiji understand more accurately how international tourists plan their trips and how to better-predict these tourists’ behavior. It further suggests some marketing strategies to effectively communicate with existing and potential tourists.

This study was performed to establish a rapid and simple analytical method for niacin (nicotinic acid and nicotinamide) using HPLC. A pretreatment method for the extraction and clean-up of niacin in infant formula sample and an instrumental condition for HPLC were optimized. Niacin was extracted by 5 mM hexanesulfonate with ultrasonication for 30 min. For the clean-up of the sample, the extract was applied to a HLB cartridge, and then niacin was eluted from the cartridge using 5 mL of 80% methanol after washing with 5 mL of n-hexane. The total recoveries were 83~104% and relative standard deviation were in the range of 1.5~3.5% during the extraction and clean-up process. Niacin was determined by gradient elution with sodium hexanesulfonate/methanol buffer as a mobile phase and a photodiode array detector (260 ㎚). It showed a high linearity between the content of niacin and the peak area (r²=1.000) in the range of 0.02~10.0 ㎎/L of nicotinic acid and nicotinamide. The detection limit was 0.02 ㎎/L (0.2 ㎎/㎏ in the sample). The method was successfully applied for the determination of niacin in infant formula. Total niacin contents were in the range of 53.5~140.3 ㎎/㎏.

This paper aims to explain the steering characteristics by changing local body stiffness. It is well know that body characteristics affect the quality of the dynamics of vehicles, such as handling performance, ride comfort and noise and vibration. This study focuses on the steering performance by changing local body stiffness since the steering characteristics are much affected by local body stiffness. In order to define local body stiffness effect, strut bar and reinforce shock tower are used for objective and subjective evaluation. The on-center handling test was conducted and good correlation was obtained between objective on center handling and subjective evaluation. With the study of on center handling test for local body stiffness, this paper explains the local body stiffness factor for enhancing steering performance.
