Objective: Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) is an autoimmune disease and manifests with a variety of clinical and immunologic features in the multisystem SLE occurs worldwide in all ethnic groups but the prevalence and clinical manifestations of SLE may differ depending on ethnic groups and age. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and laboratory features of 167 patients with SLE at the Yeungnam University Hospital, Kyungpook National University Hospital and Keimyung University Hospital between January 1984 to February 1993. Results: 1) The male to female ratio was 1:19.8 and the mean age was 28.1. Seventy six patients (42.1%) were diagnosed to have SLE in the third decade. 2) The prevalence of positive ARA criteria for SLE revealed that antinuclear antibody (ANA) was 96.4%, cutaneous disorder 73.6%, hematologic disorder 72.5%, immunologic disorder 71.3%, arthralgia or arthritis 70.1%, renal disorder 55.7%, serositis 40.7%, oral ulcer 28.7%, photosensitivity 25.7% and neuropsychiatric disorder 19.7%. 3) The malar rash was the most common manifestation in mucocutaneous disorder, arthralgia or arthritis in musculoskeletal disorder, proteinuria in renal disorder, pericarditis and pleuritis in cardiopulmonary disorder, psychosis in neuropsychiatric disorder, anemia in hematologic disorder, and hypocomplementemia in immunologic disorder. 4) Renal biopsy was performed in 65 cases among which the most common histologic type was diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis (53.9%). Conclusion: These data suggested that clinical manifestations of SLE in Korean patients revealed similar to those of Western (Caucasian+Black) except that photosensitivity, serositis, neuropsychiatric disorders were less frequent in Korean.

Most people seek a happy life and happiness positively affects sentiment, satisfaction with life, creativity, human relationship, business productivity, and even health and life extension. However, according to a survey in 2013, subjective happiness of adolescents (including university students) was very low compared to other age groups in Korea. Therefore this paper examined the effects of job-seeking stress, appearance recognition, financial situation, trust in government, and locus of control on university students happiness using SEM (structural equation modeling). 207 university students in Seoul, Korea have been surveyed. At first, an initial experimental SEM model among these variables has been set up and reliability analysis has been conducted. Then multiple regression analyses on job-seeking stress and happiness as well as SEM analysis have been conducted. As a result of these analyses, the SEM model has been revised two times. The final SEM model passed the goodness-of-fit test (using RMR, GFI, NFI, CFI, and IFI indices). The final SEM model showed the followings. First, Higher job-seeking stress (especially sentimental part, rather than environment or action related parts) negatively affects happiness. Second, Trust in government also affects happiness both directly and indirectly. Third, Locus of control is affected both by trust in government and financial situation. Fourth, appearance recognition heavily affects job-seeking stress. In addition, appearance importance is higher than appearance interest, meaning that students who are not very interested in appearance usually recognize the importance of appearance. Finally, happiness is affected neither financial situation nor appearance recognition. Therefore, even either they are in a poor financial situation or not happy with their appearance, they can be happy if they have firm locus of control.

저자 등은 만성질환으로 인해 영양결핍 및 면역저하상태로 생각되는 75세 폐결핵환자에서 분선충의 대량의 자가감염을 객담, 분변에서 확인하여 치료하였으나 사망한 1례를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Strongylodiasis is universal in distribution but is most abundant in countries with a tropical climate. Although infestation by Strongyloides stercoralis is usually limited to the intestines, dessemination of this helminth in debilitated host can be lead to death with various clinical disorders. characterized by profound malabsorption, diarrhea, electrolyte imbalance, gram negative or opportunistic fungal sepsis, coma and death. Cell-mediated immunity contributing significantly to the control of helminthic infections, may be suppressed by carcinoma, immunosuppressive chemotherapy and use of corticosteroids. Diagnosis of Strongyloidiasis is achieved by an examination of samples of feces, duodenal aspirates and sputum of patients for Strongyloides stercoralis. Treatment of strongyloidiasis is twofold : correction of the immunosuppressive state by withdrawal of immunosuppressive drug, if possible, and vigorous treatment with thiabendazole. Testing for strongyloidiasis is especially recommanded before treating a patients should be monitored for infection by Strongyloides stercoralis and other opportunistic infection. We are reporting a case patient with Strongyloides stercoralis hyperinfection and pulmonary tuberculosis who had been used corticosteroid for persisting polyarthritis.
