Background : Recently, the lung cancer mortality rank first in Korea. The prognosis of lung cancer is not good enough with current treatments and multimodality treatments are required. So we are interested in the characteristics of lung cancer patients for better treatment. Methods : We searched lung cancer patients since 1994. Then we collected the data of primary lung cancer patients about the demographic features, histologic types and diagnotic methods. We divided the total period into 2 haves and specific analysis was tried. Results : 1) Total 850 patients were included. 633 (74.5%) were male and 217 (25.5%) were female. 2) The mean age was 65 ± 11 years old. and the peak age was 7th decades. 3) Squamous cell carcinoma(334/850, 39.3%) was slightly more prevalent than adenocarcinoma(302/850, 35.5%). Conclusion : From these results, we expected that older persons will be diagnosed to have lung cancer and adenocarcinoma will be more dominant histologic type with time.

Eosinophils play an essential role in allergy reaction after parasite infection. To examine the immune reaction induced by eosinophils, we investigated the allergy reaction in BALB/c mice infected with Echinostoma hortense's metacercariae, as well as the effect of ketotifen, an anti-allergy drug, on eosinophil immune reaction in the villi of host intestine. The worm recovery rate was higher in ketotifen-treated mice than in untreated mice and the worms in ketotifen-treated mice survived longer than those in untreated mice. The antibody titer in the serum of ketotifen-treated mice was very low. Especially, Echinostoma hortense infection strongly increased serum IgE level and eosinophil infiltration into the villi of the mouse intestine. Ketotifen treatment suppressed eosinophil infiltration into the infected areas and inhibited IL-4 production. The reduced IL-4 production may be related with the reduction of IgE, IgG1 and IgG2 production. In conclusion, ketotifen inhibited eosinophil infiltration functioning in the allergy reaction induced by parasite infection and the expression of immunoglobulins and cytokines.

Understanding brand personality is important to convention destination marketers. This study develops and tests a structural equation model showing the relationships of theoretical constructs including brand personality, perceived quality, image, value and satisfaction applied to the convention destinations. Linear structural equation modeling was employed to test the hypotheses on the relationships among the theoretical constructs. The results reveal that a proposed in this study provides a appropriate fit based on the theoretical review and sincerity and excitements were not significant to dominance. The sincerity was affected negatively to the pleasure and the other hypotheses set for this study were positively approved.

Smart textile industries have been precipitously developed and extended to electronic textiles and wearable devices in recent years. In particular, owing to an increasingly aging society, the elderly healthcare field has been highlighted in the smart device industries, and pressure sensors can be utilized in various elderly healthcare products such as flooring, mattress, and vital-sign measuring devices. Furthermore, elderly healthcare products need to be more lightweight and flexible. To fulfill those needs, textile-based pressure sensors is considered to be an attractive solution. In this research, to apply a textile to the second layer using a pressure sensing device, a novel type of conductive textile was fabricated using vapor phase polymerization of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). Vapor phase polymerization is suitable for preparing the conductive textile because the reaction can be controlled simply under various conditions and does not need high-temperature processing. The morphology of the obtained PEDOT-conductive textile was observed through the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). Moreover, the resistance was measured using an ohmmeter and was confirmed to be adjustable to various resistance ranges depending on the concentration of the oxidant solution and polymerization conditions. A 3-layer 81-point multi-pressure sensor was fabricated using the PEDOT-conductive textile prepared herein. A 3D-viewer program was developed to evaluate the sensitivity and multi-pressure recognition of the textile-based multi-pressure sensor. Finally, we confirmed the possibility that PEDOT-conductive textiles could be utilized by pressure sensors.

영상 기술의 발달 및 간세포암 고위험군의 추적 관찰에 의한 소간암의 발견율이 높아져 간세포암의 절제율이 높아지고 있으나, 우리나라 간세포암의 경우에 대부분이 간경변을 동반하고 있어 간 절제 후 간 기능 예비력이 저하됨과 종양의 재발, 종양의 위치, 그리고 환자들의 수술 기피 등으로 인해 절제술이 제한을 받고 있다. 수술적 제한을 받는 소간세포암 10례에서 경피적 에탄올 주입요법(PEIT)을 시행하여 추적 관찰한 후 생존을 분석하고자 하였다. 치료 후 평균 생존 기간은 18.4±10.6개월이고, 1년 생존율은 70%, 2년 생존율은 30%, Child class A군의 평균 생존은 21.4개월, Child class B군의 평균 생존은 13.2개월 이었다. PEIT는 다양한 이유로 간절제술에 제한을 받는 원발성 소간암에서 비교적 안전하고 효과적인 치료법으로 사료되며 정기적인 추적 관찰로 재발 여부를 확인하여 2차 PEIT나 TAE 등의 병용이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. Object : The surgical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) wish postnecrotic cirrhosis has been restricted due to poor postoperative functional reserve, the development of new lesion in remained liver and patient's refusal against operation. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of percutanous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) for the patient with small HCC in whom surgical resection was restricted. Material and Method : The subjects of this study were ten patients who were confirmed as small HCC by ultrasound guided liver biopsy. The mean age of the patients was 53.9 ±7.5 years, the male to female ratio was 9 to 1. HBs Ag was noted in eight cases, Anti-HBs antibody was noted in one case, and only Anti-HBc IgG positive was noted in one case among 10 cases. Five cases were assessed as Child A, four cases were Child B, and one case was Child C. In AFP level, lesser than 350ng/ml was checked in four cases and more than 350ng/m1 was checked in six cases. The average size of tumor was 3.1±0.8cm. Under the guidance of ultrasonography, we punctured the mass with 21-22 guage needle and then injected optimal amounts of the mixture of 99.5% ethanol and 2% lidocaine (ratio of 9:1) until the echogeneisity of tumor was completely changed from hypoechoic to hyperechoic (if need, maximum, 3 puncture were done) as one tome. Above procedure was performed 3-6 tomes repeatedly every 2-3 days as one cycle. We followed up the tumor by abdominal ultrasonography and serum AFP after one month and then every three months. If the regrowth of the tumor was detected or if the development of new lesion was suspected, color Doppler ultrasound, abdominal computed tomography or hepatic angiography was performed. And then we performed the second cycle of PEIT or TAE for the regrowing or new lesion. Results: After the first cycle of PEIT the mean of survival duration was 18.4±10.6 months, one year survival rate was 70% and two years survival rate was 30%. The average duration of survival was 21.4 months in Child A, 13.2 months in Child B, and the maximal duration of survival was more than five years at now. Conclusion : The PEIT was considered relatively safe and effective method for inoperablesmall HCC, but one cycle therapy was not sufficient. We suggest that it is necessary to detech the relapse or regrowing of tumor early by careful observation after PEIT and to per form the combination of second PEIT or TAE.
