Revision of the Genus Glischrochilus (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae: Cryptarchinae) from Korea

The genus Glischrochilus Reitter, 1873 is characterized by reddish or yellowish markings on their elytra. This genus is belonging to family Nitidulidae Latreille,1802. Five species in this genus: Glischrochilus (Librodor) ipsoides (Reitter, 1879), Glischrochilus (Librodor) japonicus (Motschulsky, 1858), Glischrochilus (Librodor) pantherinus (Reitter, 1879), Glischrochilus (Librodor) parvipustulatus (Kolbe, 1886), Glischrochilus (Librodor) rufiventris (Reitter, 1879) have been recorded in Korea upto now. Additionally, a new recorded species, G. christophi, are recognized from korea. As the results, descriptions and illustrations of adults of totally five species with one newly recorded species in Korea were reviewed herein. A key to Korean species of genus Glischrochilus is also provided.

Aims: Preoperative image studies are important part of planning the operation and characterizing the tumor extension and involvement of the vessels in pancreas cancer. We evaluated the necessity of PV resection (PVR), whether the PV was well separated from the pancreatic tissue during pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma when PV invasion was radiologically suspected. Methods: A total of 336 patients who underwent PD from January 2008 to December 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into two groups (Group A; n=206, not suspicious for invasion, Group B; n=130, suspicious for invasion group) based on the radiologic finding. There were subdivided into group 1-4, based on whether portal vein resection was performed. The patients of Group 1 and group 3 were again divided based on the free portal vein margin of 1mm. (Group 1; >1mm, 53 patients, < 0.9mm, 28 patients and Group3; > 1mm, 10 patients, < 0.9mm, 22 patients). Results: Group 3 showed significantly higher survival rate than group 4 (median 27 months vs 17 months, p=0.015). Group 3 had longer survival than patients who had no invasion of Group4, but it was statistically insignificant (median 27 months vs 19 months, p=0.114). There was no significant difference between patients who had more than 1mm from the portal vein groove margin compared to patients who had less than 1mm (median 27 months vs median 23.5 months and median 27.5 months vs median 32.5 months, p=0.226 and 0.335, respectively). Conclusions: Even though PV invasion is suspected on preoperative image, it is possible not to resect the PV in order to achieve R0 resection if the periportal tissue is well separated and PV invasion is surgically not suspected.

Muscle atrophy is associated with chronic diseases, such as heart failure diabetes, and aging-related diseases. Glycyrrhiza uralensis (GU) extract is widely used in traditional medicine. However, no studies have evaluated the effects of GU on muscle atrophy. Thus, in this study, we assessed the effects of GU on prevention of muscle atrophy. GU reduced the levels of the TNF-α-induced muscle atrophy markers, muscle RING-finger protein-1(Murf-1) and muscle atrophy F-box (MAFbx), and upregulated myosin heavy chain expression (MyHC). It also reduced the phosphorylation of nuclear factor kappa B, and downregulated Smad3 proteins, which are involved in protein ubiquitination. When we examined whether GU exhibits antioxidant activities. GU suppressed TNF-α-induced muscle atrophy by increasing the translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), which regulates the expression of antioxidant factors such as heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) as well as apoptosis-related factors, such as caspase-3/7. These results suggest that GU extract is potentially an important agent in the regulation of TNF-an induced muscle atrophy.
Analysis of the necklace design appearing in fashion collection

In this study, we analyzed the whole design of the necklace in detail, which reflects the artistic sense of handicraft in couture. The purpose of the study was to identify the characteristics of the design based on the analysis findings and to provide basic data to help fashion designers. The research method entailed analyzing trends in necklace design - viewed in fashion magazines and on websites - by year, season, brand, kind, material, color, and image. The identified necklace design characteristics were as follows. First, artistry and originality are dramatically expressed through the use of a broad range of materials. Second, due to the necklace’s role as an object of perfect beauty, in a number of images, the necklaces were presented in convergence and contrast with overall costumes. Third, the dramatic effects of layering revealed a strong presence and individualized styling. Necklaces are created with diverse sculptures by realizing the creative imagination of fashion designers. Even though they looked a little different every year, there were designs in the collections constantly. Round shape and princess length were preferred. In particular, the mix type was used to express dramatic effect by focusing neck part in entire styling which different length of necklaces were layered and worn. As a result, it meets the needs of consumers who emphasize brand differentiation and diversity, and it is believed that the role of necessities in fashion will continue and it creates economic demand in the fashion industry.

The Chrysomelid species of the genus Xanthogaleruca, X. aenescens Fairmaire, 1878 is reportd for the first time from South Korea. The genus Xanthogaleruca Laboissiére, 1934, within subfamily Galerucinae, contains only nine species, and is distributed Palearctic region (Beenen, 2010), but one adventive species, X. luteola (Müller, 1766), is widespread throughout much of Canada, North Africa and the United States. Also known as the elm leaf beetle, it feed on Ulmus (Ulmaceae). In the present study we report on the genus Xanthogaleruca Laboissiére, 1934 from Korea for the first time, based on X. aenescens Fairmaire, 1878. We provide the habitus photographs, illustrations of diagnostic features and a key to the genus in S. Korea.

결혼 이민자의 수가 급격히 증가함에 따라 한국 사회는 소위 다문화 가정과 그 이민자 구성원들을 위한 한국어,한국 문화 교육의 필요성을 절감하고 있다. 그러나 결혼 이민자들이 사용하는 언어의 담화, 화용적 측면에 대한 본격적이고 심도 깊은 연구는 아직그리 많지 않다. 본 연구는 한국 다문화 가정의 구성원들 사이에서 일어나는 담화상의 상호 작용을 담화 분석적 방법론을 기반으로 기술하고 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 베트남과 몽골 출신 어머니들로 구성된 두다문화 가정의 자연스러운 대화를 녹음 및 전사하였다. 이 자료를 기반으로 특히 이들 어머니들의 자녀 숙제 돌보기와 관련된 모자간 상호 작용을미시적으로 분석, 기술함으로써 다문화 가정 어머니들의 담화 특성과 유형이 그들의 언어 숙달도와 깊은 관련이 있음을 논의하였다. 즉, 유창성이 중급 이하로 판단되는 베트남 출신 어머니는 명령형 문장을 사용한 직접 화행을 자주 구사하며 동일 구절을 계속 반복함으로써, 다그치는 듯한 강압적 담화 패턴을 보였다. 이 베트남 어머니의 딸은 때때로 선생님과 같은역할을 취하면서 자신의 어머니의 발화의 화용적 부적절성과 부정확한 발음을 교정하려고 하는 것을 관찰하였다. 반면, 중-고급 한국어 학습자인 몽골 출신 어머니는 비록 바꾸어 말하기(paraphrase)에 있어서 한계를 보이며역시 동일 구절 반복의 양상을 보이기는 하지만, 간접 화행과 얼버무리기표현(주변어) 등을 사용함으로써 더욱 부드러운 발화 특성을 보였다. 이 몽골 어머니의 아들은 어머니를 적극적으로 가르치려 드는 모습은 보이지않았지만, 어머니의 부정확한 발음을 장난스럽게 흉내 내면서 어머니가 한국어 모국어 화자가 아님을 인지하고 있음을 드러내었다.

This study to figure out the diversity patterns and community structures of ground beetle of the Gyebang Mountain newly is incorporated into Odaesan National Park, Korea. A total of 47 species belonging to 20 genera of 12 subfamilies were identified from 483 collected ground beetles. Species richness was high in Pterostichinae (18 species, 39%), Carabinae (8 species, 18%), Harpalinae (7 species, 15%), Lebiinae (3 species, 7%), Bembidiinae and Nebriinae (2 species, 5%) and others (1 species, 2%). Twenty-three species were brachypterous and 24 species were macropterous. The dominant species was Synuchus nitidus (19.05%) and a subdominant species was Eucarabus cartereti cartereti (14.49%). Dominance, species diversity, species richness, and species evenness index were 0.56, 3.00, 3.85 and 0.70, respectively. Also, Acoptolabrus mirabilissimus ssp. 1 is discovered in the Mt. Gyebang area for the first time.
