        <tex> ${\rm TmBa}_{2}{\rm Cu}_{3}{\rm O}_{7-{\rm x}}$</tex> Superconducting Thin Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition

        <P>TmBa<SUB>2</SUB>Cu<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>7</SUB> <SUB>-</SUB> <SUB>x</SUB> films which is one of the (Rare earth)Ba<SUB>2</SUB>Cu<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>7</SUB> <SUB>-</SUB> <SUB>x</SUB> high temperature superconductors with small ionic radius of rare earth element, were deposited on STO (100) single crystal substrates and Y<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/YSZ/CeO<SUB>2</SUB> buffered metal substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The J<SUB>c</SUB> (77 K) and the value of onset of Tc TmBCO thin film on STO substrate was 4.5 MA/cm<SUP>2</SUP> and 86 K, respectively. The of J<SUB>c</SUB> TmBCO coated conductor on metal substrate was 1 MA/cm<SUP>2</SUP> . In-field property measurement was carried out at temperatures between 10 K and 77 K in magnetic filed up to 6 T in PPMS system. This is the first report, to the best of our knowledge, of TmBCO thin films and coated conductors with TmBCO film as the superconducting layer which have critical current densities at 77 K of 4.5 MA/ cm<SUP>2</SUP> and 1 MA/cm<SUP>2</SUP> , respectively. The superconducting properties of TmBCO films and the possibility of using TmBCO film as the superconducting layer of the HTS coated conductor, were investigated.</P>

      • Graphene paper with controlled pore structure for high-performance cathodes in Li–O<sub>2</sub> batteries

        <P>In non-aqueous Li-O-2 batteries, relatively large amounts of discharge products are formed on air cathodes. As such, the expansion of air cathodes is a critical issue that remains to be solved. Here, we report the fabrication of highly porous free-standing graphene paper by introducing macropores within the paper using polystyrene colloidal particles as a sacrificial template. The as-prepared macroporous graphene paper (mp-GP) have a large BrunauereEmmetteTeller (BET) surface area (ca. 373 m(2) g(-1)), a large pore volume (ca. 10.9 cm(3) g(-1)), and a high porosity (91.6%). Owing to the high surface area and large pore volume, the mp-GPs exhibit a high specific capacity of ca. 12,200 mAh g(-1) at a current density of 200 mA g(-1), as well as good rate capability, when used as an air cathode in a non-aqueous Li-O-2 battery. Moreover, the mp-GP shows good stability up to 100 and 78 cycles at a current density of 500 mA g(-1) and 2000 mA g(-1) respectively, with a limiting capacity of 1000 mAh g(-1). It is found that formation and decomposition of the discharge product, Li2O2, occur within the macropores, and thus, the mp-GP maintains its original structure without considerable expansion during cycling.       • Thermoset polyester droplet-based microfluidic devices for high frequency generation

        <P>The vast majority of droplet-based microfluidic devices are made from polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Unfortunately PDMS is not suitable for high frequency droplet generation at high operating pressure due to its low shear modulus. In this paper, we report the fabrication and testing of microfluidic devices using thermoset polyester (TPE). The optical characteristics of the fabricated devices were assessed and substrate resistance to pressure also investigated. TPE devices bonded using an O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma treated PET substrate at 76 °C were shown to function efficiently at pressures up to 18 MPa. TPE material retains many of the attractive features of PDMS such as ease of fabrication but significantly, has superior mechanical properties. The improved resistance of TPE to high pressures enabled investigation of high frequency droplet generation as a function of a wide range of flow-rates with three different oils as continuous phase.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Droplet-based microfluidic devices to withstand high pressure have been successfully fabricated using thermoset polyester (TPE) materials for high frequency generation of droplets. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c1lc20603f'> </P>

        만성 정신질환자 가족의 우울증상 및 관련 요인 조사

        Objectives : It has been reported that caregivers of patients with chronic mental illness including schizophrenia are in higher risk for psychological and physical health problem. This study was performed to evaluate the depressive symptoms and associated factors in caregivers of patients with chronic mental illness. Methods : The subjects were 77 unaffected caregivers (30 parents, 30 siblings, 10 offspring, and 7 spouses) of patients with chronic mental illness (62 schizophrenia, 4 schizoaffective disorder, 11 bipolar disorder) and 100 healthy controls. Depressed mood was assessed by Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) in all subjects. For their sick family members, clinical factors including psychotic symptoms using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), duration of illness, number of admission were assessed. Results : The mean BDI score of the caregivers was significantly higher than that of control subjects (11.2±11.6 and 8.0±17.5). Given that 23.4% of family group and 23.0% of control group are attributed to mild to moderate depressed state and 22.0% of family group and 8.0% of control group to above moderate depressed state, significant depressive symptom is more frequently observed in family group. The mean BDI score of parent group was higher than that of sibling group controlling for sex and age. In the parent group, BDI scores are positively correlated with age while the offspring and spouse group had negative correlation between BDI scores and age. Higher age, lower socioeconomic state, more severe positive symptom scores of patients were potential predictors for BDI scores of caregivers. Conclusion : This study showed that caregivers of patients with chronic mental illness have significant depressive symptoms. It may be suggested that depressive symptoms of caregivers are associated with aging, low socioeconomic state, and severe positive symptom rather than chronicity of their sick family members.

        직업적인 납 노출이 없는 일부 중년 한국인의 골중납량 및 혈중납량

        목적: 우리나라에서 납에 직업적으로 노출되지 않은 일부 중년 성인들의 골중납량과 혈중납량의 수준과 상호관련성을 알아보기 위하여 40세 이상 남자 86명 여자 51명 총 137명을 대상으로 본 연구를 시도하였다. 방법: 연구변수로 골중납량인 경골납량,혈중납량을 택하였다. 경골납량은 K-shell XRF를 이용하여 각 대상 자들을 30분간 측정하였고,혈중납량은 원자흡광광도계법으로 분석하였다. 결과: 총대상자 137명의 경골납량의 평균±표준편차는 3.49±4.99 μg/g이었으며, 남자와 여자는 각각 3.90± 4.88 μg/g 및 2.80±5.14 μg/g이었으나 양군 평균의 통계적 차이는 없었다. 한편 총대상자 137명의 혈중납량의 평균±표준편차는 3.70±1.35 μg/dl이었으며,남자와 여자는 각각 3.93±1.25 μg/dl 및 3.30±1.42 μg/dl이었으나 양군 평균의 통계적 차이는 없었다. 음주,흡연 및 BMI를 통제한 후 혈중납량을 종속변수로 한 중 회귀분석에서 연령은 양의 영향을 주는 변수로 나타났다. 여자대상자만을 대상으로 한 중 회귀분석에서 교란변수를 통제한 후 연령은 경골납량에 경계수준의 양의영향을 나타내었다. 결론: 40세 이상의 우리나라 중년성인의 경골납량의 평균±표준편차는 3.49±4.99 μg/g이었으며,혈중납량의 평균±표준편차는 3.70±1.35 μg/dl이었다 혈중납량은 연령과 성과 유의한 양의 관련성이 있었으나,골중납량은 여자에서만 연령과 경계수준의 유의한 관련을 나타냈다. Objectives: In order to investigate the level and the association between bone lead and blood lead levels of non-occupationally, lead-exposed Koreans, the authors studied the lead biomarkers of 137 middle aged Koreans (86 males and 51 females) older than whose age were above 40 years. Methods: The tibia lead level was selected as the bone lead indicator of cortical bone, and the blood lead level was also measured. The tibia lead level was measured by K-shell XRF with 30-minute measurement of each subjects. The blood lead level was analyzed by AAS method. Results: The mean (SD) of the tibia lead level of the 137 study subjects was 3.49 (4.99) ,㎍/g, and tended to be higher. The mean (SD) of tibia lead level in male subjects (was 3.90 (4.88) ㎍/g) and larger than in that of female subjects (2.80 (5.14) ㎍/g), but without no statistical significance was observed. The mean (SD) of blood lead level of all total subjects was 3.70 (1.35) ,㎍/dl, and tended to be higher. The mean (SD) of blood lead level in male subjects (was 3.93 (1.25) ㎍/dl) and larger than in that of female subjects (3.30 (1.42) ㎍/dl), but without no statistical significance was observed. In multiple regression analysis of blood lead levels after adjusting for covariates, age was a significant independent variable. A weak association of age with tibia lead in female subjects was also observed in multiple regression analysis. Conclusion: The mean (SD) of tibia and blood lead levels of middle aged Koreans whose ages were over 40 years old were 3.49 (4.99) ㎍/g and 3.70 (1.35) ㎍/dl, respectively. Age and sex were positive predictors of blood lead level in multiple regression analysis after controlling for the covariates. However, in multiple regression analysis whereas age was weakly association with tibia lead level only in female subjects in multiple regression analysis.

      • 소음성 청력장애에 관한 조사연구

        부산지역 일부 섬유, 고무 및 제강 산업장의 소음 작업부서 종사 근로자들중 6분법에 의한 청력장애(21dB이상)자는 조사대상의 6.30%이었다. Authors surveyed on the status of prevalence and several characters related with the occurrence of noise induced hearing impairment on 2,963 numbers of workers engaged in noisy department of twelve industries which were Textile, Rubber and Steel-Wire in Busan from July 1st, 1980 to September 30th, 1981. The obtained results were as follows: 1.About 90 percent of workers in noisy department engaged in the place of noise level less than 100dB(A). 2.The prevalence of occupational healing loss of workers engaged in noisy department by each level of hearing loss was respectively 5.43 percent at 21dB and above. 2.53 percent at 31dB and above, 0.80 percent at 41dB and above. 3.Workers of noise induced hearing impairment showed typical Cs-dip in Audiogram. 4.About 80 percent and above of workers of noise induced hearing impairment determined hearing loss of 40dB and below. 5.Hearing loss of workers of noise induced hearing impairment increased with aging. 6.Hearing loss of workers of noise induced hearing impairment was in accordance with the duration of employment in 7 years and below. 7.The occurred rate of noise induced hearing impairment using ELI(Early Loss Index) was about 92 percent(D-E scale).

      • 광궤환 알고리즘을 적용한 새로운 구조의 대용량 광 셀 압축기 및 역압축기 구현

        In this paper, we proposed a new type of the Optical Cell Compressor and Decompressor, which are essential functional modules in TDM and TDM/WDM Hybrid Optical ATM Switch structure. The proposed structure drastically lessens hardwares for realization, using applied optical feedback algorithm in the compressing and decompressing. Also, it is possible to compress and decompress the large capacity optical pulse stream under the situation of multi-stage connection. We specified the systematic application through 4-bit compressing experiment with the single module for the proposed optical cell compressor.

      • 개구제한 치료에 있어서 Therabite ^�Jaw Motion Rehabilitation System^TM의 효과

        In oral maxilofacial surgery, limited mouth opening (trismus) is a common symptom resulting from traumatic and postoperative conditions involving the muscles of mastication and their attachments. The limited mandibular function of trismus can result in impaired nutrition, speech, oral hygiene and lifestyle. In the head and neck cancer patient, these symptoms can occur at a time when nutrition, attitude and oral hygiene can be very important to comfort and recovery. Limited jaw mobility can make it difficult to introduce food into the mouth and interferes with the oral preparatory phase of swallowing. Therefore we have to treat the limited mouth opening with various method such as hot pack, muscle massage, muscle stretch with manual, tongue blade and therabite jaw motion rehabilitation system. This study has demonstrated the efficacy of therabite jaw motion rehabilitation for treatment of limited mouth opening in mandibular fracture, internal derangement of TMJ, deep facial infection patients. Ten patients complaining of limited mouth opening were treated by therabite jaw motion rehabilitation system. This treatment was found to be effective in reestablishing normal mouth opening within 4 week in postoperative. It is suggested that therabite jaw motion rehabilitation system is simple, non-invasive, inexpensive, and highly efficient procedure in patients with limited mouth opening.
