<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We evaluated the reliability and validity of the Pediatric Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Childhood Brain Tumor Survivor Questionnaire (pedsFACT-BrS, Version 2). This was specifically directed to patients aged 13 years and older (adolescents). The pedsFACT-BrS was translated and cross-culturally adapted into Korean, following standard Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy methodology. The psychometric properties of the pedsFACT-BrS in adolescents were evaluated in 161 brain tumor (BT) patients (mean age=15.53 years). Pretesting was performed in 30 patients, and the results indicated good symptom coverage and overall comprehensibility. In validating the pedsFACT-BrS for adolescents, we found high internal consistency, with Cronbach's α coefficients ranging from 0.76 to 0.91. The pedsFACT-BrS for adolescents also demonstrated good convergent and divergent validities when correlated with the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale and the Kovacs' Children's Depression Inventory. The pedsFACT-BrS for adolescents showed good clinical validity and effectively differentiated between clinically distinct patient groups according to Karnofsky score, type of treatment, and treatment on/off status. This reliable and valid instrument can now be used to properly evaluate the quality of life of Korean adolescent BT patients.</P>

조직 및 세포배양법을 이용한 시험관내 연역법의 효능성을 비교 검중하기 위해 편도절제술에서 얻에진 11세 소년의 편도 조직을 균등하게 두 부용으로 나누어 한 부분은l0% Type AB 인혈정이 보강된 RPMI 1640 배양액에 37 ℃ 세포배양기에서 또 한 부분은10% Type AB 인혈정이 보강된 Waymouth MB 752/l 배양액에 37℃조직 배양기에서95% O2/5% CO2 를 공급하며 배양하였다. 배양 1 시간 뒤 50 μ g/ml KLH 및 lOO μg/ml LFS 를 투여하여 연역을 시킨 뒤 Flowcytonletry 를 이용하여 CE23 의 발현정도, 생산된 장체의 생산 시기, 생산 량 항셰 아영 빛 지속정도를 ELISA 벚 western blot 을 이용하여 비교한 경과 조직배양군에서 항원 투여 3 시간 후 CD μ이 세포배양에 비해 먼저 발현되어 더 오래 지됩을 확인할 수 있었다 또한 IgG 형의KLH 빛 LPS 에 대한 특정 항제가 생산됨을 증명하여 향후 시험관내 연역법의 상용화 가능성을 증명할 수 있었다

<B>BACKGROUND:</B><P>This study investigated the agreement between self-reports from pediatric brain tumor patients and proxy reports from their parents regarding the patients' quality of life (QOL), as assessed using a brain tumor-specific QOL assessment tool, the Pediatric Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Childhood Brain Tumor Survivors (pedsFACT-BrS) questionnaire. The authors expected moderate correlation and similar mean scores between patient and parent reports.</P><B>METHODS:</B><P>The pedsFACT-BrS for those aged 7 to 18 years was completed by 351 brain tumor patients (166 children and 185 adolescents), and the parent proxy reports were completed by 351 mother proxies and 37 father proxies. Statistical analyses, including the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, intraclass correlation, and comparison of group means, were used to compare the 33 items shared by all 4 versions of the pedsFACT-BrS.</P><B>RESULTS:</B><P>The correlation between reports completed by pediatric patients and their parent proxies was significant (P = .59-.84), whereas that between the reports of adolescent patients and their parent proxies was slightly weaker (P = .47-.78). The patient and parent proxy reports showed moderate-to-good agreement and yielded similar mean scores in both the child and adolescent brain tumor patient groups; the sole exception was a difference in emotional well-being scores.</P><B>CONCLUSIONS:</B><P>The results indicate that proper use of the pedsFACT-BrS for patients and their parent proxies can provide clinicians with valid information about the overall QOL of child and adolescent brain tumor patients, including both their general health and their brain tumor-specific well-being. Carbon sequestration is emerging issue and soil organic matters are receiving high attention in regards to the global climate change. It is important to determine the soil organic carbon (SOC) fractions such as WESOC (water extractable soil organic carbon), and an incubated carbons as CO2 to evaluate carbon sequestration in soil. However, the analyses for those contents are time-consuming procedure. In this study the feasibility of MIRS (Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy) for determining the WESOC and an incubated carbon. Oven-dried soils at 100℃ and 350℃ were scanned with MIRS and compared with the chemically analyzed WESOC and carbon dioxide generated during 30, 60, 90, 120 days incubation, respectively. It was observed that an optimized determination coefficient was 0.6937 between WESOC and untreated soils pre-processed by spectrum vector normalization (SNV) and 0.8933 between Incubated soils for 30 days and oven--dried soils at 350℃ after subtracting air-dried soil processed by 1st derivatives.

Exercise dosage is proven to be an important factor in the physical treatment. Robot assistive approach can improve the rehabilitation quality and evaluate patient’s recovery quantitatively. This paper presents kinematic structure, assistive control system, and integrated F/T sensor for an upper limb rehabilitation robot. By using the human arm dynamic, there are three rehabilitation modes presented in this paper: active mode, assistive mode, and passive mode. In assistive mode, we have two strategies to implement it. One is to amplify interactive torque, and the other is to apply assist-as-needed concept. The goal of this mode is to assist patients to finish motion tasks. The rehabilitation robot under investigation has 7 degree of freedom (DOF) actuated by DC motors, which are programmed to drive the robot arm in the 3D space. To validate our control design, some realistic experiments are conducted and its satisfactory performance is demonstrated. This work is approved clinical testing by the Department of Health, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. So far, we are demonstrating the effect of our controller.
